Eight problems related to tank assembly have been reported for the 1999 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Gas tank strap broke allowing the gas tank to fall out of place almost touching the road. Had to have truck towed in. Would appreciate your help in getting costs covered for the repairs from any recall on this safety hazard since the gas tank could have exploded. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Fuel (gasoline) tank strap failed due to rust. Fuel tank dropped in rear causing the driver to note the tank hanging down under the vehicle. Tank had to be temporalily supported to move vehicle to repair facility.
Consumer took car to dealer. Dealer said that they replaced the recall. Consumer received another recall notice from Ford. Took car to a different dealer. They put the car up, and said the first recall had never been taken care off.
The vehicle was taken into the Ford dealer for a safety recall pertaining to the fuel tank mounting system. They could not complete the recall work because the fuel tank was leaking from a hole in the bottom of the tank. The dealer stated that the tank had a puncture that was caused by some object that bounced off the road. The tank is made of plastic and has no shield to protect it from road debris. Had this been a gasoline tank instead of diesel fuel it could very well have exploded when the object struck the tank. The vehicle should be recalled and at the very least a shield should be mounted on the frame to protect the tank from being hit by foreign objects.
Whenever driving during the day or during the night interior lights & back lights would come on & then go off. The fuel tank also leaked fuel. Have taken vehicle to dealership & was informed by mechanic there was no way the problem could be corrected.
Dealer unable to perform recall repair 99s32 of the fuel system integrity because where is a fifth wheel in the bed of the truck. Nlm.
Hit object in the road, puncturing the gas tank which had no protective covering. Consumer believes that this covering should be a requirement, not just an option.
Consumer received recall 99v-093001, however is not satisfied with the dealership and the time of recall repairs.
