My vehicle has being stalling while driving at 1st start up in the morning for over 3 weeks. The problem is now getting daily. I understand there is a recall 05s34 that has this problem with the Ford diesels. My vehicle in currently broken down about 60 miles from my home. The auto repair shop thinks its a hiring harness to the ficm.
The problem began in July 2011. I own and bought new, a 2004 F-250 super duty crew cab four-wheel drive truck with a 6. 0 liter engine. The problem started with hard cold starts. When it did start after three to four attempts, the engine ran extremely rough. After a few minutes, it would eventually level off. Throughout the day, the engine would start and stop without any problems. But after being parked overnight, the truck would be hard to start. This continued for several weeks. On the evening of August 11, 2011, after the engine was off for only three hours, it was hard to start. The engine woukd lope, it would not level off for a few minutes and blew black smoke out the exhaust. Eventually, it did level off and drove home. I did not attempt to start it up again until the morning of August fifteen. It would not start. When I turned the key, it cranked, acted like it was going to start, then back to just cranking. I attempted seven times and stopped concerned I would drain the battery, damage the starter, or some other part. I contacted the dealer. It had to be towed to their service center. They ran diagnostics and deternmined it was the ficm (fuel injector control module) and was going to cost me $1,300 to fix. This is our only source of transportation, so I reluctantly gave them the go ahead to fix it. The day it went in for service it only had 55,079 miles. I don't understand. This truck is only seven years old. I hesitated in switching to diesel, but after researching and listening to friends and relatives about the lower fuel costs, lower maintenence, higher performance, I switched. I am diappointed that in only seven years, I'm having to spend over a thousand dollars to replace a part that cannot be repaired. Poor design or poor quality? american made cars and trucks used to be built to outlast their owners. This event has questioned my trust in the "built Ford tough" statement. Recall should be the word for this situation.
2004 Ford F-250 sd. Consumer requests assistance in helping obtain satisfactory attention and results related to recalls and repairs the consumer stated the egr valve was bad and needed to be replaced. The vehicle ran fine for awhile, until the egr valve went bad again. The fuses burned out on a consistent basis, the battery died, the fuel gauge did not give accurate readings, the vehicle stalled on several occasions and the crank position sensor failed.
No acceleration when throttle pushed. My 2004 Ford F-250 has a situation where I can be setting at a intersection getting ready to pull into traffic, and when I press down on the throttle, nothing happens leaving me in the middle of the road. The truck idles pulling me into traffic, no acceleration happens at all. This has occurred 3 times in the last 2 weeks. There is no way to predict when it is going to happen. A major accident could easily occur.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250 equipped with a diesel engine. The contact was driving at approximately 65 mph, when the vehicle suddenly shut off completely with no power steering. He was able to get the vehicle safely to the side of the road and had it towed to a repair shop. The mechanic at the repair shop replaced the wiring harness and one of the fuel injectors. However, the wiring harness shorted out again and a fuel injector in another area blew. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealership where he was informed that the wiring harness and the fuel injection module had failed. He was also advised to replace the wiring harness and the module. The current and failure mileages were approximately 170,000.
Multiple failure of turbo charger and connecting hose, have experienced no power, loss of power,back-fire conditions while in traffic. While towing and not towing. No accidents so far but several near misses. Turbo replaced or repaired 3 times, less than 51000 miles on truck. Vehicle has not been modified.
Pulling out onto highway and engine loses power and sometimes stalls. This condition was occasional but now is constant. When I pull onto a roadway and it stalls, cars have to brake to keep from crashing. I understand there is a manufacturer/sponsored recall but when I talked to the service manager at the Ford dealership they tell me they don't have a recall listed.
Engine stalls while driving since 12/06. Missed recall 05s34 by 1 week. Ford replaced icp sensor 4 times since then at our cost. Stalls 2-3 times week. 3-4 missed accidents. Stalled decelerating on freeway today. My son was almost killed. Ford CO. Will not assist beyond email to dealer.
2004 F-250 superduty with 6. 0 diesel every morning the truck has no acceleration from the start it runs really rough and if I depress the accelerator the truck will not move or it will only go to a speed of 5 to 10 mph this also happens if the truck has been setting for an extended period of time like all day at work I have had several very close calls with other cars when pulling out into traffic and the truck will not go this has happened numerous times and I have had no help from the local dealer .
Check engine light came on, I had it checked and found that it was code #p2285 or icp sensor circuit. The truck idles erratic and the motor surges. The Ford dealer said that it is not covered under safety recall #05s34 because of the build date. I have not had it repaired yet.
Was driving my 2004 Ford F-250 super duty 6. 0l diesel truck with my family when it stalled without warning on a sharp curve. Started looking online and noticed that there were recalls on said trucks concerning ficm wire harnesses and icp sensor connectors.
My 2004 Ford f250 super duty diesel had its turbo replaced in may 2005-it has been in and out of the dealership's garage on and off for the last year, stalling out at various speeds, we can not tow anything with out it blowing black smoke and cutting out. I am 1000 miles from the initial warranty the mechanic's have not fixed the problem I located a NHTSA recall which describes the problem to the tee. Ford motor company representatives told me that my vehicle's VIN wasn't included in the recall so I have to pay out of my pocket for the correction. Even though I am still under warranty, and the consequences of summary states: if the engine stalls, a crash could occur. Which could endanger my family and possibly someone else.
I have a problem when my f250 diesel runs at 1200-1500rpm, the engine seems to shutter and loads up. It sometimes seems to start to stall out and lose power. The dealer has had the vehicle in their service department six times and can not find the problem. They have changes the exhaust sensor and remap the computer with no luck. They have test driven the truck and had the problem occur. The vehicle is becoming dangerous to drive because of the lose of power in traffic. I have had a couple of close rearend collisons becasue of the problem. Nothing has been done to correct the problem. The dealer can not find the problem and has advised me to keep driving it at my risk. Hoping to find a fault code.
We have terrible gas(diesel) mileage with our truck, can you help? , we've had at least 6 recalls on our truck.
2004 Ford f250 diesel truck does not have power to accelerate in the mornings. I can not pull out into traffic with any confidence that you will not be hit. The truck has been taken several times to Ford dealerships and they say that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle has many other problems but if the computer can't find them, they do not exist and they will not fix it. I. E. Turbo being blown, fuel mileage becoming less and less etc.
2004 Ford f250 super duty king ranch. After reflash to repair an idle problem truck developed three very dangerous conditions. 1. Cruise stalled - going down hill at approx 55-58 the truck will stall without warning. No power steering or brakes. Reproducable on demand. 2. Downshift lockup - truck will lockup rear tires in excess of 30 feet if tow/haul mode is used. On first occasion it almost caused a major accident on highway, came within inches of a head on with a large dump truck while towing a boat. Reproducable on demand. 3. Coast stall. Intermittently stalls usually at off ramps after cruise has been released. Extremly dangerous to take offramps in such a large vehilce with no power.
Extreme turbo lag with loss of power which caused vehicle not to shift through the gears, it is an automatic, unable to drive over 25mph and emitting a large cloud of black exhaust. Incident occurred at approximately 100,000 miles luckily the turbo was able to be dis-assembled and cleaned with no internal damage at a rather high cost but still cheaper than a replacement.
