I purchased this truck in January 2023. Drove just fine for 2 months and started having this issue. While driving my 2004 f250 sd 6. 0l turbodiesel 4x4, (egr deleted, bulletproofed and studded engine, cold air intake, oil cooler, sct x4 tuner) a "fizzle" noise was heard more on passenger side; acting like fuel wasn't reaching engine; and truck stalled right after noise was heard. Wouldn't restart on a hot engine. Crank-no start. Drained both batteries attempting to restart. Restarted after cold engine but would stalled out and not be able to restart while hot engine. Replaced both fuel filters, fuel pump, some module in front bumper relating to fuel system. A friend that knows diesel engines has been trying to find out why its operating the way it is. I treated the gas tank to (2) seafoam for trucks and had valvoline in ferndale, wa do an oil change after purchasing it. Recalls say that they've been done, but could this issue be caused by the ficm recall?.
I was driving in nampa around 5pm when my truck lost power my fuel peddle had 0 response tried to pull off the road almost had an accident because truck died losing steering power and brakes was hard to push truck had lost the voltage board in the ficm. Upon going over forums this is a major common issue amongst many Ford owners. I also have a ground short from unknown location not sure as to what has caused this but assuming it has to do with the wiring harnesses to the ficm. I feel Ford should be in repair of this due to the large amount of issues across the nation of 6. 0 owners but this is a very dangerous situation for owners. Not having steering control in such a large truck is extremely dangers. Previous owner had same issue and replaced the ficm and said it shouldn’t ever be an issue I feel there is a wiring issue that needs to be addressed.
Vehicle loses all power-stalls and loses function when idling. Has occurred when exiting freeway way and in a regular neighborhood streets. Need to restart after stall.
Reduced powered under a grade/load. Reduced acceleration. Bogs down, cannot reach speeds higher than 40-45 mph, up hill.
Takara recall I was driving down the freeway when the check engine light came on I all the sudden had a loss of power and it was like the motor was sputtering like it had a misfire after that it's very hard to start and barely moves it comes up with multiple injector codes that all failed at the same time some high some low.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact had to maneuver to the shoulder. After approximately half hour the vehicle started after approximately 6 miles it stalled again. The vehicle was towed home. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic clogged injector pumps failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 195,000. Bp.
Driving on the highway , complete loss of throttle but the engine was still running at a low amperage. Was able to pull off the road and turned it off. It wouldn't start back up right away. Had to wait a while it would start and limped it home. No problems for a few days, then it started acting up again. A couple times it would start, but at a low idle with no response of the gas peddle. The final straw was last week. I was driving on the highway to work. Each time I came to a stop, it would lose throttle. I was able to turn it off and back on to get going. Then at a major intersection of hwy 41 and 145, it wouldn't turn back on and I was in the middle of the hwy. I had to push it to the side of the road and it would turn but not start. I had it towed to my mechanic on Saturday and Monday when they got to it, after charging the batteries, it started right up and they haven't been able to get it to fail. . . When this happens, there is no oil pressure on the gauge. This is dangerous and potentially hazardous or deadly. I could have easily been injured or killed if I had been hit.
Tl- the contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250 vehicle. The contact stated that the fuel lines severely corroded and were leaking. As a result of this leaking the contacts transmission malfunctioned while driving 40 mph which required the contact to use a greater effort to keep vehicle control. The were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact however did replace power steering fuel line, one brake line and one transmission fuel line. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 180,000. Kh.
My truck started to stall intermittently, I've had it to the dealer to have numerous repairs performed. I saw NHTSA campaign number: 05v270000 which references Ford recall no. 05s34. I called to inquire at west brothers Ford in sullivan mo. And was told my truck has no recalls. I called Ford customer service and the first person said the recall expired and my truck was no longer under warranty. The second person said my truck wasn't affected because the recall said "certain" vehicles. My truck falls in the manufacture dates listed on the recall, has the 6. 0 engine and is stalling now. I have owned my truck since new and it has not had this work performed on it. I would like an explanation of what "certain" vehicles apply to this recall and why mine doesn't. I would also like my truck fixed or reimbursed by Ford, unless they can show why my truck doesn't need the work done. This is a safety matter. Thank you. ## VIN passed ## Ford f250 super duty 2004 ##.
While driving at speeds between 40 and 65 mph, the vehicle will suddenly stall. Fuel light engine preheat warning lights will come on. If the cruise control and/or tow haul are in use at the time of the stall, they are shut off at the same time. Engine can usually be restarted; on a few occasions it has been necessary to turn on the emergency flashers and attempt to get out of traffic. This creates a hazardous situation when driving on interstate highways. The stalling has occurred when the vehicle has no load and also when pulling a light weight fifth wheel camper. We have taken the vehicle to 2 local Ford dealerships, they have replaced parts (accelerator pedal, & a "fuel management module) but have been unsuccessful in correcting the problem and claim to be unaware of any history of problems with this model vehicle.
Engine accelerates sporadically on its own. Engine occasionally dies at stop lights. Must keep brake pedal firmly pushed at stop as engine will suddenly accelerate. I have already replaced the turbo. The dealer says it could be many different things wrong. The 2003-2007 diesels are notorious for bad turbo, fuel injectors and a head bolt problem that requires removing the cab. I purchased this truck new and it now has 39000 miles on it. This is a serious safety concern.
My vehicle has being stalling while driving at 1st start up in the morning for over 3 weeks. The problem is now getting daily. I understand there is a recall 05s34 that has this problem with the Ford diesels. My vehicle in currently broken down about 60 miles from my home. The auto repair shop thinks its a hiring harness to the ficm.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to dealer for diagnosis where the stated that they needed to replace the head gasket. The vehicle was repaired but the vehicle still would not start. The dealer then advised the contact that the fuel module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance, stating that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure and the current mileage was 173,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250 tdi. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph uphill and towing a boat, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure but stated that he found permatex gasket material in the fuel system, causing the injector o-ring to blow. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 140,000 and the current mileage was 1637,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250. While driving 20 mph, the contact stated that the fuel injector control module failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified, but offered no assistance. The manufacturer was notified and also offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 94,000. The failure mileage was approximately 93,900.
My 2004 Ford f250 super duty crew-cab truck accelerates and decelerates spontaneously on its own while I am driving at a uniform speed. This can persist for a number of miles before abating. The engine just begins to rev up and then down for no apparent reason. When stopped at a traffic light, with my foot only on the brake, the truck suddenly accelerates and lurches forward. I tried putting it in park while at the traffic light, but it died when I did so. The truck is used for trail fcor two large horses, and should it spontaneously accelerate or completely stop while trailering on the freeway, the results could be disastrous. This significant safety issue is what prompts my complaint to the NHTSA. We took the truck to our Ford dealership mechanic, and he said that Ford has had a number of similar complaints.
