Four problems related to spare tire have been reported for the 2004 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250 super duty equipped with ameritrack tr tires. While driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle began to shake excessively. The vehicle was pulled over and the contact noticed the tread had separated from the front drivers side tire. The vehicle was driven to an independent repair center where a full sized spare was installed on the front drivers side. Six days later while driving at approximately 65 mph; the failure recurred on the front passenger side tire. The vehicle was pulled over and the contact installed a spare tire on the front passenger side. The vehicle was not diagnosed for the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 43,900.
I was driving approximately 45 miles per hour on the highway. I had the rear driver side tire blow out on the highway. This occurred without any warning of imminent failure. The tires had approx 40,000 miles on them and are the original tires supplied with the vehicle. It is a 2004 Ford F-250 lariat diesel extended cab. The vehicle has approx. 40,000 miles on the odometer. I purchased it used in December of 2008 and was not informed of any recalls. I believe these are defective tires. Splits are evident in at least one more tire. Bf goodrich tires. My VIN is [xxx] . I have changed all four tires and retain possession of all the remnants collected from the roadway. Ford full size pickup trucks (150/250/350 etc) spare tire held by cable, cable wears and brakes w/out warning. Spare tire held up by cable under trucks comes loose on highway @ speed !.
When the consumer went use the spare tire, he discovered the tire was too small for the vehicle, which caused the vehicle to ride abnormal.
