14 problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 2004 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driving on the highway , complete loss of throttle but the engine was still running at a low amperage. Was able to pull off the road and turned it off. It wouldn't start back up right away. Had to wait a while it would start and limped it home. No problems for a few days, then it started acting up again. A couple times it would start, but at a low idle with no response of the gas peddle. The final straw was last week. I was driving on the highway to work. Each time I came to a stop, it would lose throttle. I was able to turn it off and back on to get going. Then at a major intersection of hwy 41 and 145, it wouldn't turn back on and I was in the middle of the hwy. I had to push it to the side of the road and it would turn but not start. I had it towed to my mechanic on Saturday and Monday when they got to it, after charging the batteries, it started right up and they haven't been able to get it to fail. . . When this happens, there is no oil pressure on the gauge. This is dangerous and potentially hazardous or deadly. I could have easily been injured or killed if I had been hit.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250 super duty. While driving at speeds of 10 mph, the brakes were applied and the vehicle abnormally accelerated, resulting in a crash. The police did not appear on the scene and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the failure was caused by a malfunction in the vehicles computer. The failure and current mileages were 63,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Ford f250 superduty. While idling at a red light, the vehicle unintentionally accelerated. Currently, the vehicle constantly accelerates on its own. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by a mechanic or dealer at this time. The current mileage was 92,000 and failure mileage was 90,000.
: the contact stated the vehicle accelerated on its own at various speeds intermittently. Also, this had happened while stopped at a red light. The dealership had seen the vehicle five times. The first two times, the problem could not be duplicated. The third time, an unknown part was replaced. The fourth time, the computer was reprogrammed, but the problem persisted.
My 2004 Ford 250 4 x 4 is surging (taking off) when I am not accelerating the engine. It does this at various speeds. The dealership has tried several fixes and even called their own hotline. Nothing is working to fix the problem. I am at times sitting a red signal light ant the truck wants to take off. My foot was firmly suppressed upon the brake pedal. I travel down a residential street, going at speeds between 25 and 40 miles per hour, and my truck surges forward as though I depressed the accelerator. I did not depressed the accelerator. I can be going speeds between 25 and 75 miles per hour on the highway, whether in stop and go or continuous speed, and the truck surges without the command of my foot on the accelerator. The rpm needle jumps suddenly as well when this occurs. If I am repeating myself, it is because I am very concern for my safety as well as any passengers and the other drivers on the road with me when this problem occurs. I have gone to various website forums and I am seeing other owners complain of the same thing, but Ford is not fixing the safety issue.
Contact states vehicle surged and jumped about 2 feet into the street when foot was not on the accelerator. Vehicle had surged before, but not as bad as this time. The service dealer couldn't find what iwaswrong with the vehicle. The service dealer replaced 5 or 6 modules trying to find out what was wrong with the vehicle.
Low idle surging and stalling with loss of power steering.
While driving vehicle stalled. When it shut down lost power at 35-45 mph. Problem still recurred. The vehicle would surge, would be given no warning, but the check engine light would come on.
The vehicle was taken to repair shop 8 times for stalling. Each time the dealer did something and it continued to stall. They replaced the processor, wiring harness, and a number of other things. This started oct 12,2004.
While stopped at a red light the vehicle accelerated without warning. No impact reported. The part has been repaired six times, however the problem still exist. Please provide additional information.
Vehicle had no throttle response and the rpm's dropped down to 0. Vehicle just quit, lost power for about 30 seconds. This happened repeatedly at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer replaced several components but the problem recurred.
Vehicle surges forward with no pressure on gas pedal. While stopped vehicle jumper forward then stalled. Dealer was unable to duplicate without error code and returned vehicle. At highway speed of 55 and 1200 rpms vehicle lurched forward. Vehicle then began to lurch and stall weekly. Unable to duplicate at dealership. After dealership drove vehicle over 100 miles they think its the wiring harness and advised to have it replaced. They had no previous knowledge of any such incidents.
Consumer purchased a 2004 Ford f250 6. 0 diesel truck in August 2003 and has had nothing but problems since then. Engine revs up while in gear at a stop and vehicle lurches into traffic.
