Our company has 3 2005 F-250 work trucks and the all have the same problem ,when you reach approx. 55mph you get a violent shake from the frontend, and or if you hit a pothole it is very dangerous, like your going to lose control due to the shaking and nobody can find a total fix to the problem,I think Ford should have a recall or something!.
I was driving on I-64 doing about 65-70mph and crossed over bridge/rough spot in road when it threw the truck into a bad shimmy. It has happened at least 10 times in the past year. I took the truck to a Ford dealer and was told that it needed a new camber kit that would change by 1 degree. I had to pay for repairs. The problem still exist.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle would shake whenever he drove over a bump. The failure occurred at all speeds. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed. The contact replaced the tires himself, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 12,000.
2005 Ford F-250 super duty, started at @ 25,000 miles in 2008 and still happens today. Happens when traveling over 60 mph, when you hit any small bump in the road, the front suspension started to shake uncontrollably. It is very hard to control the truck. This happens all the time on the freeway. The tire pressure was correct at the time of the first incident, the tires were balanced and the lug nuts were torqued to Ford specs. Talked to the Ford dealer and they denied any knowledge of a similar problem. After a few hours research online, this problem is well documented and frequent with the Ford super duty line from 05"-08". It seems to be an engineering defect and Ford is well aware of the problem, but it does appear that Ford has offered any remedies. The NHTSA also knows of the problem. I viewed four NHTSA videos that demonstrated the identical problem that I am experiencing with my truck. I have found no action on the part of the NHTSA. This problem needs to be acknowledged and corrected before someone is killed.
Very severe uncontrollable front end shimmy. Vehicle was taken to dealer and no trouble was found. Service advisor advised tire balancing and alignment. I paid for that service out of pocket and problem still persisted. I them replace the tires out of pocket. Problem still persisted. I then replaced the shocks and steering stabilizer out of pocket. Problem is 90 percent better but you must be careful of the vehicle limitations. In my opinion their is a vehicle design flaw. Exact dates can be supplied if necessary.
2005 F-250 superduty lariat 4 door 4x4 violent shaking when hitting rough roads.
Shakes violently and uncontrollably at various times and speeds when hitting a bump or uneven surface. Usually occurs at 60-75 mph. Very dangerous and scary! dealer blames tires which are almost brand new.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-250. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle shakes violently. The failure initially occurred when she hit a small bump in the road. The vehicle is currently at the dealer for service. The dealer has not yet diagnosed the cause of failure. The VIN, engine size, and # of cylinders were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 25,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford f250 super duty. He stated that while driving highway speeds the vehicle would bounce and shimmy. The dealer stated that they have done all that they could do. The failure mileage was 18,000 and the current mileage was 22,000. The VIN number appeared to be incorrect.
2005 Ford f250 crew cab super duty v10 triton. While driving at a speed above 30 mph and hitting some bumps on the road the truck will go into a violent oscillation where all the wheels hop up and down causing me to nearly loose control. The only way I have found to stop this severe wheel hop is to put the vehicle in neutral and quickly but safely get the vehicle below 10 mph (5 mph if left in gear). This usually happens at speeds about 50 mph but in two cases it has happened at slower speeds including once at right at 30 mph. I have had passengers including children in the vehicle when this has happened and they have all feared for their lives when it occurs. I find myself dodging bumps in the road at the risk of causing an accident myself to keep this from happening. I can't believe with as many people that I have found on the web that are complaining about this that nothing is being done about it.
Severe rapid vibration in steering wheel after hitting small changes in surface plane - acknowledge speed 70-80 - possible unbalanced suspension for elevation of chassis? very dangerous, very real problem.
While driving down the road, hit a small pothole in the road and the suspension started to violently shake the truck along with severe steering wheel oscillations. No control of the vehicle until I could get slowed down enough to stop the oscillations. I have had this happen on my truck multiple times throughout the years at speeds anywhere from 30 to 60 mph and contrary to other reports listed on here, the tire pressure was correct and made no difference. I have put on aftermarket suspension and tires since the original time this happened and added a steering stabilizer which helped to keep this from occurring but it still happens on occasion. This problem was brought up to my dealer at the beginning and they said they could find no problems. The shaking and beating of the vehicle when this occurs is unbelievable. I fully believe this is what has caused me to have a broken rim, electrical issues, brake problems, and what I believe is a cracked turbo up pipe or something else that is allowing exhaust fumes into the cab.
I just recived from Ford another notice about the out of control shimming that takes place concerning the 2005 f- 250 . Ford has does nothing to correct this problem other than to blow smoke at everyone about the tire pressure. Since I bought this unit new, the tire have always been corrected to the proper amount or the correct tires been replaced. Still this isuue takes place . Its an unbelieable terrifing shaking that takes place , and only stops when the trcuk gets to about 20-25 miles an hour. This occured most recently, last that a car following me , pulled me over to tell me how it looked from the rear, to the point the person behind me was fearful for their safty as well. I refuse to let any member of the family drive this truck ,other than myself. There is certainly more to this issue than what Ford is making out to be and all Ford wants to do is blow smoke at us about the tire pressure. I've tried to sell this unit to no avail, as the dealers don't want to touch this unit and others have checked on line to have found out about it and asked me about it , and wanting to be honest I told them about it. So now I have a truck that I can't even sell at a deep discount. Thanks Ford.
Consumer's 2005 Ford f250 shook when it hit a bump. When the steering wheel started shaking the consumer could not make it stop until he lowered his speed to approximately 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer 5 times for this problem but they have been unable to duplicate or remedy the problem. As of 9-26-05 the vehicle has been at the dealer. An engineer agreed that there is a problem but doesn't know what the problem is. The consumer would like for the manufacturer to buy back the truck.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving 55-60 mph over a bump in the road, the front end began to shake violently. A local mechanic replaced the shimmy shock but the failure continued. The dealer had not inspected the vehicle. The contact received a notice from the manufacturer in 2009 stating advising him to keep the tires inflated. The contact stated that he had to slow down to 35-40 mph to get the shaking to stop. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 125 and the current mileage was approximately 47,000.
2005 Ford F-250 sd shaking violently after going over uneven surfaces on highway. We were out of the state working for 10 days and depended on this vehicle so the following day we took it to a Ford dealer and all they had to say was the tires needed 80 pounds of air. As soon as we returned home we traded it off and got a 2006 and it is doing the same thing and a complaint has been filed on it as well. Done with Ford trucks, if Ford doesn't think any better of its customers than to put an unsafe vehicle on the road we are going to Chevrolet.
While driving driver noticed that the vehicle swayed from left to right on its own. Then, vehicle vibrated uncontrollably. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove to the dealer. Mechanic informed the driver that dealership was aware of problem, but a solution was undetermined at this time.
Vehicle will go to the left or the right, and consumer will never feel steering wheel move. Took vehicle to dealer , lined it up, put new tires on it, put new casters on, and rotated it. But vehicle still has the problem.
When ever the truck goes over something like an bulged expansion joint or a pot hole with speed in excess of 40-45, it will react violently. Often the vehicle will move over a foot or two(depending on the speed of the truck) in the lane of traffic. The bouncing/shaking of the front wheels is over in several seconds, but is severe none the less. If you hit a bump on a curve, the vehicle will almost go off the road. This has happened enough times over the years that I attempted evasive action/slow way down when I see I'm about to strike something that will set the suspension into bounce mode. Many, many, many Ford super duty owners have complained about this issue and all Ford can say is that it's the owners fault for not keeping the tires aired properly. I dare you to come drive my truck!!!!!!!!! yes, I have changed the oem shocks to bilstens for the f250 applications and have installed a stiffer steering stabilizer shock. Have also experimented with various air pressure settings. Nothing made any difference. Truck still has stock suspension springs.
