Two problems related to manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe have been reported for the 2008 Ford F-250. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Exhaust manifolds leak. Ford uses alumina heads with steel manifold bolts and cast iron exhaust manifolds. The three metals have different heat ranges which cause the exhaust manifolds to wrap or crack and break the bolts causing leaks.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the exhaust manifold bolts were rusted and fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the exhaust manifold was fractured and leaking. The technician replaced both exhaust manifolds, 20 studs, four nuts, and two gaskets. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,851.
