When driving at highway speeds (50 mph or higher) the truck experiences "death wobble" when it hits a small rough patch. During "death wobble" the vehicle shakes uncontrollably and won't stop until the vehicle speed is brought down to 30 mph or lower.
I had a low tire pressure warning come on so I took my truck to the tire shop. The shop found I had a cracked wheel on the right rear of my truck. I keep my truck and wheels clean and have never pulled heavy loads so I do not understand why I have a cracked wheel. This truck is a daily driver on us highways and has never been off road.
Tl- the contact owns a Ford F-250 equippied with nitto tires lt305/55r/20 73r8k3r212. The contact stated that the vehicle felt although it needed an alignment. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the belts were separating on the inside of the tire on the front driver tire. The vehicle had it's tire replaced however the failure recurred on the passenger side of the tire. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. Kh.
I was driving on the highway, hit a bump and the front tires started to hop, increasing in intensity the entire time. The experience was very scary, and I felt like I was going to loose control of the vehicle. I had to pull over on the side of the highway, very carefully, since I had hardly no control of the vehicle at this point. Since the first incident I have noticed the hopping of the front tires every time I hit a little bump in the highway or a pothole. It tends to happen at speeds on the highway and is less frequent traveling on local roads at a slower pace. The only way to make the tires stop from hopping is to either gradually pull off the road, or jerk the wheel in one direction or the other violently. Either way I do not consider it safe.
While driving north on rt 95, every time you make a left curve the truck shook unmercifully. We would have to pull off & come to a complete stop for this to stop happening. Mind you we are outside of baltimore at one time praying that no one would hit us!!! the truck is at a Ford dealership as we speak, trying to figure out the problem. Naturally its shocks (not covered by warranty) steering stabilizer rotate & balance tires. But now that I've read your other complaints I see I'm not alone. We only have 45,00 on the truck, there should be no need for any of this expense yet!!! because your part is inadequate I have to fork out money to correct the other parts??? I really think this needs looked into, before you have a gm incident on your hands. Thanks for your consideration.
I'm a life time Ford truck owner and have never been so disappointed in my life and ready to purchase from a competitor. The title "death wobble" is very true and Ford really needs to pay attention because it will cost someone their life. If I wasn't 65 years old and an experienced driver the multiple times I've experienced this could have killed me. I have replaced everything involving the suspension, tires, struts, rods, having multiple alignments, etc. . And nothing has fixed this mess. Ford needs to fix this. I'm willing to be part of a class action lawsuit against them for the lemons/death traps they're producing & selling. Ford is aware of this problem and refuses to do anything about it. They switched from leaf springs to this horrible design starting with 2008 models to present.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford f250 sd. The contact stated that there was a crack in the front passenger side wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they provided no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and advised the contact to purchase another wheel. The failure mileage was 48,000.
Driving highway speed, after hitting rough area, front end starts to shake violently causing almost loss of control. Took to Ford dealer in laredo, TX and was repaired. This lasted about 8 months and problem arose again as I was driving the interstate in ms. Took to local repair and had king pin[?] replaced but didn't stop the problem. Checked tire pressure, shocks, wheel bearings. . . Research has proven this is very common problem but no real answer. This truck is dangerous to drive and cost over $50,000. What do I do now?.
I was driving my 2009 F-250 traveling about 40 to 45 mph and after hitting a rough patch of road the wheels began to shake out of control for about 20 seconds. I have had my truck to the dealership for the same problem on 6 plus times. Ford states that it was a tire pressure issue. . . . . . . Bs!. . . . Bs! each time Ford has my truck they say we have fixed the problem and it should not occur again. The last time I left Ford and spent 165. 00$ on a damper rod to fix this problem I drove 18 miles down the road and went into a "death wobble again. I turned the truck around and it is sitting at Ford as I write this post. After reviewing this matter on line I have noticed that there are more F-250's with the same issue. A federal recall needs to be done and fast. Several times that the "death wobble " as occurred to me , I have been lucky so far to drive out of it with out a problem. I might not be so lucky next time. A federal recall needs to be done fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
