We have a 2010 Ford f250 superduty diesle with approx 105k miles on it. While driving down the city highway (route 15 south in williamsport, PA) at approximately 64 mph I was on a bridge that the road turned slightly to the left to merge into another highway and when I hit the expansion joint the truck started to violently shake out of control bouncing the truck toward the rail guard. I applied the breaks to slow the truck down. It took all the stregnth I had in my arms to keep the truck on the road. When at approx 35mph the shaking finally subsided. This is not the first time this has happened in our truck. My husband has experienced it a few times. After researching on the internet I found that there is a Ford technical service bulletin 18-2268 for this and it is being called the death wobble. We are taking our truck in tomorrow to be serviced at our local Ford dealer, but this is very dangerous issue and should be a Ford recall. Everything I am reading online is pointing to a known issue with the steering linkage damper/adjust assembly and clearance between the axle and the bearings in the hub assembly. Below are the part numbers that are listed in the Ford technical service bulletin 18-2268: part numberdescriptionquantity hc3z-3e651-d steering linkage damper1 5c3z-3b440-eee 1 adjuster assembly2 5c3z-3b440-ddd 3/4 adjuster assembly2 5c3z-3b440-ccc 1/2 adjuster assembly2 5c3z-3b440-bbb 1/4 adjuster assembly2 f2tz-3a049-a castle nut2 w525288-s437 cotter pin2 I really feel this needs to be addressed with Ford and put in as a recall before someone dies. Please be proactive to save lives.
Tires replaced due to belt separation at the edge of the tread, causing a severe vibration above 35mph. The tires dot was checked with manufacturers list of recalls and even though the tires were manufactured in 2009, they were not included. I feel they should also be included since the same set of conditions are applicable to these tires.
While driving my 2010 Ford f250 super duty on the highway I drove over a bump in the road. The truck began to shake violently. It felt like it was going to fall apart while still in motion. I tried to hit the brake but that seemed to exacerbate the problem. I tried to adjust the steering wheel in hopes to align some defunct component. Nothing seemed to help except to let off the gas and attempt to control the vehicle and avoid a potential fatal accident. This really was a frightening event, it was all I could do to maintain a safe distance around me so not to collide with other drivers.
Continental contitrac m+s lt275/65r18e 123/120s is the original tire on our 2010 truck. We had to replace 1 tire due to steel belt separation. I see continental recalled 2008 and 2009 but don't see mention of 2010 being recalled.
At various speeds, the front end begins shaking violently like you have just blown a tire. When you slow down it settles back. This problem was checked by an ase mechanic and suggested I balance my tires. After doing so, the problem still occurs.
Experienced vibration in the front end of the truck at all speeds on local county road. Took the f250 to summerville Ford to be aligned and balanced. Ford found the right front tire's steel belt had separated and replaced the tire with the same brand and size. Continental lt275/65r18.
The front end of this truck shakes violently to the point of almost causing it to fall apart. This happens when you hit any uneven road above 55 mph. You can't steer and have to apply the brakes and bring the vehicle down to about 30mph before it stops. This happens all the time on the freeway and having to stop and bring it down to 30mph is extremely dangerous in los angeles.
