36 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

Driving truck started shaking lost steering ran in ditch tire rod broke front end messed up.

37 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2020

My truck only has about 42,000 miles and out of no were it started shaking real bad at highway speeds. As soon as a bump or bridge conection was hit the vibration of the vehicle would increase to a point were you have to slow down to almost a complete stop to be able to regain control of the vehicle again. Due to this I was inches away from hitting the center barrier on a freeway after nearly losing control of the vehicle completly. I had taken it to the dealership due to a small vibration and they replaced the steering dampener on the warranty and out of my pocket the steering drag link and it helped but was still getting a vibration and no more than a week later the same thing happened almost took me out of the road. Im not aure what is causing this but it has to get corrected.

38 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2020

A/c condenser damaged by road debris per local Ford dealer and needs to be replaced at a cost of $995. 00. The grille has large holes in it that I can put my hand and forearm through on each side of the Ford emblem which is allowing road debris to damage the radiators. The local Ford dealer said they had other Ford F-250's come in with the same issue and also another one where a bird went through one of these large holes and took out another guys radiator. In my opinion this is a manufacturing defect / error that was poorly designed and end up costing the consumer alot of money to fix. The Ford dealer is telling me that when I get it fixed I need to put a metal screen behind the grille or it will happen again. I have 63,000 miles on my pickup now and have own chevy pickups with over 100,000 miles and never had road debris damage a a/c condenser or a radiator.

39 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2020

I have experienced violent shacking of the steering wheel and entire truck. I had this issue present itself over 6 times since purchasing it in sept. 2016. I purchased the truck brand new from a Ford dealership. First and second instance were in late 2017with less approximately 18k miles. All instances have happened while driving on interstate at 60 mph or higher. The steering wheel starts to shake and then continues to violently shake and the entire cab is shaking. Lose of steering control. Only stopped after forcibly slowing down truck to below 25 mile per hour causing possible collision with other vehicles or barriers. Have taken it to Ford dealership after the second instance and they say Ford is not acknowledging the issue and could do nothing about it. In may of 2020, the dealer did acknowledge that their was an issue and they replaced steering damper under warranty but after 4 months the issue came back more violently than before. On oct. 28th, 2020, it occurred 4 times while driving within a 40 mile distance. This time the truck should so violently I had to almost come to a complete stop on the interstate to make it stop shacking. Road were wet and and in heavy traffic. I do not feel that it is safe to drive truck anymore while this issue present. I have re-contacted the dealership and mentioned the issue and service they performed back in may, they did not return call for assistance.

40 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2020

When it rains there is water dripping from my passenger side a pillar trim panel and glove box puddling on the floor boards. The Ford dealer near me has water tested the truck and has not found anything, so they would like a contracted glass specialist to inspect the windshield seal even though they couldn't find a leak in it.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2020

Death wobble steering wheel and front end shake violently making it very difficult to control vehicle after driving on rough road at highway speed. After several weeks waitig for back ordered part Ford dealer replaced steering damper as fix for this problem 2/21/2020 30241 miles. Problem back in August 2020 38817 miles.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2020

I have a 2017 F-250 with 24,000 miles on it recently started the "death wobble". Usually only happens at higher speeds (60 or better) and after hitting a "rough patch" in the road or bridge joints. Ford seems to say it's because some of us aren't always carrying +/- 1000 lbs of cargo. I wonder if the problem has to do with the 800 lbs they took off the tare weight of the truck when they went to the aluminum body in 2017?.

43 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2020

Tailgate opened on its own while driving 4x so far. This is after it was taken in for a recall about 2 year's ago. Each time I was driving and it happened with the first 10 minutes. I was in the mountains camping when it happened.

44 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2020

Vehicle will shake violently when traveliing 50+ mph and it hits a bump in the roadway. The vehicle is uncontrollable and requries immediate deceleration until the the shaking smooths out enough to safely resume driving. When this happens while traveling on the interstate this poses an extreme risk of having or causing a motor vehicle collision.

45 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2020

When driving the truck at highway speeds, the steering wheel goes into an uncontrollable whipping, or the famous "death wobble" after you hit bumps in the road. You need to bring the truck down in speed to get it to stop. This condition is not safe on the highway with traffic around you, and is very upsetting and scary when it happens. This happens at highway speeds after you hit bumps. This happened to me twice on our trip back from florida to wisconsin. I had a 5th wheel camper attached to the truck when this happened, so I was even more afraid of losing control with that amount of trailer in tow.

46 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

At 71 mph while the truck was on cruise control going down the interstate, I went over a bridge and the truck began to violently shake like it was coming apart. The truck's back end started to come around on me like it was skidding and went back and forth a couple times. The road was completely straight and dry so there shouldn't be any reason this would have happened either. Cars on both sides of me went to the shoulder and ditch trying to get out of the way. I slowed down to about 30 mph and the shaking stopped. I took the truck to the Ford dealer and they instantly knew what I was describing and call it the Ford death wobble. The truck has 15,500 miles on it with original tires, never been in an accident or any other reason to do this. Very scary and I won't let the family in it now. The Ford dealership said it will most likely happen again as they have trucks come back over and over trying to fix it but there isn't a legitimate fix from Ford.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2020

I was traveling on a highway doing approximately 70 mph (speed limit). When I hit a bridge expansion joint the truck started violently vibrating to the point I was losing control of the vehicle. I rapidly decelerated and the violent shaking stopped after I slowed the vehicle to approximately 25 mph. The shaking was so violent I was seconds away from veering off the road into the trees. There is a technical bulletin from Ford about this issue, but it is not a recall. Someone is likely going to die for what is obviously a design and/or manufacturing defect. The technical bulletin from Ford on this issue TSB# 18- 2268. Nthis needs to be a recall.

48 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2020

Driving about 60 miles per hour on a state maintained highway I hit a small depression in the road and the front end of the truck and the steering column started to shake violently to the point I had very little control of the vehicle. I was able to pull over and stop. I understand there is a class action lawsuit against Ford describing the death wobble effect. That description is exactly what I experienced.

49 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2020

Driving in between 50 and 65 I hit a bump or pot hole in the road the front end starts to shake and shakes the whole cab of the truck bad. Truck has 29k miles. Had to slow down to 30 mph to get it to stop shaking.

50 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/24/2020

Vehicle starts to violently wobble, shudder, vibrate at speeds over 50mph for unkown reasons. It appears that highway speeds cause car to begin this death wobble. Road, weather, and speed conditions appear to be at random. This is so dangerous that it must be addressed immediately. This issue had been happening since the vehicle was new. It happens randomly and is very dangerous. Dealership needs instructions from manufacturer on how to repair.

51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2020

While driving at highway speeds (60mph), I hit a bump in the road and the truck began to shake violently in the front end, to a point that I felt I might lose control. The only way I could get it to stop was to significantly reduce speed. This has happened twice now and is "very" concerning. The second time was at highway speed as well, this time 70mph.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2020

While going 70 mph after crossing a small over pass the small bump where it meets the road, sent the front end of my vehicle into what I can only say was a violently out of control shaking that I could not stop for a period of time. The whole vehicle shoot uncontrollably as I did all I could to smash the brake pedal that did very little, as well as hold on to the steering wheel that was going back and forth so hard and fast it was it could not be turned in any direction until the vehicles slowed. We were in traffic at the time and I could not control my vehicle until it slowed and I could get it to the side of the road. The shaking was very violent. I know about vehicles so I looked over the whole front end and saw nothing wrong. I drove the vehicle home, about 30 miles from the incident at 50 mph. I had a wobble around 25 mph going down an on-ramp. The mileage was around 24,000. I took it to the local dealer and the serviceman said, OH, you had a death wobble and said it just needed adjustment. He never said this could happen again, or that it needs to be monitored in some way. This has been an ongoing issue per others on the internet. My truck has 57,475 miles on it.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2020

Over the past 5 months (it is now 1/30/2020) the entire front end of the vehicle shakes violently and uncontrollably at a high rate of speed, typically highway speeds, ranging anywhere from 50-80 mph. Although, it has happened at a speed of about 40-45. It happens out of nowhere with no apparent provocation, I. E. , hitting a pothole, turning, hitting the brakes, etc. It usually happens when driving in a straight line and nothing seems to make it stop. I've tried hitting the brakes, slamming the brakes, continuing to hold my speed steady, accelerating slightly, and praying to god to make it stop. Nothing works, it just eventually stops but not before traffic clears all around me. It is noticeable from outside the vehicle as I have seen drivers hit the brakes and fall back in traffic around me. The violent shaking makes it difficult to keep the vehicle steady or in my lane of traffic. The violent shaking makes the vehicle bounce all over the road. It makes it impossible to hold the steering wheel steady or straight. It is terrifying and unnerving. I believe it is going to kill me or someone else. I haul trailers with heavy equipment almost daily. Many times I am on the highway or on city streets. If it continues to happen, the damage will be costly and may kill innocent people, including myself. I am afraid to think what will happen if these unexpected, violent shakes happen while I am hauling heavy equipment.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/13/2020

Returning from nashville to mandeville, la we hi it a bump in the road at 70 mph when the truck began volently vibrating. Similar to a blown tire. We had to pull off the highway for it to stop. It happened four times in less than an hour.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2020

Driving on highway between 60mph and 80mph if rough patch or bump the road is hit the truck will start shaking violently and the steering will lock up. The problem does not correct itself until the truck is slowed to 30mph. It is starting to happen more often. Today with my kids in the car it happened and I almost hit a concrete highway divider. I have taken the truck to the dealership and was told that Ford is aware of the problem but the parts that are to fix it dont remedy the issue. Basically there's nothing they can do at this point. This problem is going to cause an accident so I am not driving the expensive truck I've had for only a year and definitely will not have my kids in it until something is fixed.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2020

When driving the truck on any road at speed beyond 55mph, if the truck hits a bridge joint or a bump, the steering of the vehicle will often begin to shake violently and it is very difficult to control the vehicle. The only way to stop the shaking is to rapidly slow the vehicle to approx 30mph. This becomes increasingly dangerous when your driving in heavy traffic. This common defect is going to kill somebody and should be taken seriously with a recall being issued. Its unbelievable this continues on all these trucks with no help to the vehicle owners.

57 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

When driving at approximately 50mph and coming into contact with any uneven spots in the road the truck will shake violently and jump up and down left and right so bad that it is impossible to do anything but hit the brakes. When the vehicle slows to about 30mph the shaking subsides and is fine until the next bump in the road. . It happened 3 times in 5 mins and in less than 1 mile distance on a state highway . . This is a serious problem and needs corrected before someone is killed. . The first time it happened I had about 8000 miles on my vehicle ,it has happened 10 times since, every time at speeds greater than 50mph.

58 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2019

I have a 2017 Ford f250 super duty 4x4 that I am having problems with the front end the salesman that I bought the truck from calls the problem a death wabble the truck has 53000 miles on it but tomball Ford where I bought the truck from told me that they were out of the parts that would fix the problem nation wide .

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2019

I just had two experiences with death wobble in one day and it was my first time dealing with it. I was traveling at about 65 mph hit a hit a bump in the road on a small county road that sent my truck front steering jerking back and forth and I had to pull off the road to get it back under control. I thought it was a tire issue and got out and look at tires and shocks and linkage to find nothing wrong. Second is the worst, I had my family in the truck on the way home and I hit another bump in the road when it started again. I this is very unnerving and I don't feel safe driving especially with family in truck.

60 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2019

Violent shaking of the front end when hitting a bump at 70 mph that almost made driver lose control of the vehicle until slowing down to 50 mph.

61 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2019

I was driving my truck on christmas day and hit a small bump on the highway and all of a sudden my truck started shaking violently and was hard to control. I slowed down to approx. 30-35 mph and the shaking went away. This is the second time this has happened. I took it to the dealer and the service tech said it was death wobble and even put that on the service order. They said they would order a new improved stabilizer and that it would it would be take 6-8 weeks to receive the part. I am now with a truck that my wife and grandkids will not ride in and I am concerned about driving it. The shaking is very violent and the vehicle is very hard to control. Then, having to slow to 30mph in a middle lane on the highway is very dangerous and could cause a serious accident.

62 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2019

While driving down the highway on a straight away at 60 miles per hour my truck began to shake violently until I slowed down two under 25 miles per hour. I got out to check to see if a tire had blown or a wheel had fallen off because of how dramatic the shaking was. There is no visual sign of anything broken or loose and upon thoroughly checking I startes driving home and the problem did not happen again. Both my passenger and I thought the truck was going to fall apart with us in it.

63 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2019

Multiple times, in the last few months, I have experienced the "death wobble " in my truck. The truck has less than 45000 miles. The death wobble usually happens after a bump in the road, which causes the truck to shake violently. It is extremely scary, losing control of the truck.

64 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2019

I had just stopped for gas and got back on the highway and was in the passing lane going over a bridge deck and as soon as I came off the bridge the truck started shaking horribly. I let the car next to me pass as I slowed down and pulled over. Scared myself and my uncle to death and still had to drive 160 miles to get home. After returning home I have taken it to the local dealer and they replaced damper steering linkage but as our family vehicle we do not feel comfortable in it's safety!.

65 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2019

Death wobble. . . . Almost lost control of the truck. Happens several times a week.

66 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2019

Hwy 129 Dodge county GA, a1116t 60 mph truck violently went left and front end started uncontrollable severe shaking/oscillating. Slammed on brakes and only regained control of truck after mph dropped below 30. Stared moving again and 20 min later at 60 same thing! called Ford dealership and I have an apt this morning at 9 they sway bar issue, I research and its called death wobble. If some one had been in the on coming lane this would be a different story/complaint as we don't know if anyone would have survived!!!.

67 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/16/2019

I've had multiple occasions of the death wobble while drive at higher speeds. The latest incident happened yesterday 11/16/20 and was the worst incident so far. Driving down the highway at 60 mph after hitting a couple seems in the concrete the truck began to violently shake and wobble, progressively getting worse over the course of 1-2 mins. I let my foot off the gas peddle and applied slight pressure to the breaks, which made the wobble worse. After finally slowing down to ~30 mph the truck stopped wobbling and shaking. I honestly believe a less experienced driver could have easily lost control and rolled the truck causing a multiple vehicle accident on the highway killing people.

68 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2019

Driving highway speeds, 55 or above and hit a bump on highway the truck violently shakes and will not stop until almost stopping the vehicle. It's happened once at 70 mph on interstate and 5 times going 55 on a state highway. The vehicle has 54000 on it. Just happened Nov 15th and 17th 2019. Very scary and could lead to real safety problems pulling a trailer.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2019

While traveling at 70 mph dry roads, the front end started to shake violently after hitting a bump in the road. After online research I believe this to be the dreaded "death wobble" that numerous people have reported but yet Ford has not fixed the issue for years.

70 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2019

We were pulling 5th wheel at approximately 70 mph. Hit bump in road. Pickup started shimming/shaking violently, almost lost control. Had to reduce speed immediately which is hard to do in traffic. However, this happened again without the fifth wheel driving down the road at approximately 75 mph. Hit bump in road and you have to all but slam on the brakes to get it to stop. Did this again 3-4 times trying to reach dealership. The pickup has been in dealership for three (3) weeks today. The dealership says parts are on back order and they have no idea when part will be in to fix if fixable.
