When the cleaning exhaust filter message comes on, the truck runs extremely rough and the engine gets a violent shake with loss of power. It also has a loud pinging sound. This lasts for about two minutes. The first occurrence was when merging on to the freeway with the sudden loss of power. I have had the truck in two dealers. Both state this is not normal but Ford has indicated it is and will not authorize work until something breaks. The odd part is that the computer reads that all is ok. The dealer states all is not ok but the issue is something the computer isn't tracking???.
I was in my Ford f250 v10 triton sitting idle at a red light when I heard a loud pop under my hood which was followed by a steam engine sound when I accelerated. Had it towed to a mechanic and found that my factory spark plug had blown out of the head. The mechanic told me this happens often with Ford triton motors. The mechanic used a helicoil type tooling to retap the hold and fit a collar in it that would accept a new spark plug. The cost was about $300 but the fact that this happens so often for this particular manufacturer seems to me that they should bare the cost for each occurrence.

Driving to work yesterday evening I stopped to gas up. After fueling the truck I started the engine and heard a loud pop followed by loud engine noise. I shut down the engine to investigate and found the spark plug from the second cylinder on the passenger side ejected destroying the coil in the process. I have yet to repair the problem and have concerns that it will happen again.

Motor sounded like a lawn mower. The treds ripped out of the motorthat held the spark plug in $800. 00 for a 50 cent fix that Ford could have taken care of by using a heli coil.
