Ford f250 tryton v-8 blown plugs on interstate 80 miles from home. Ford dealer says the just issued a service bulletin concerning this but are of no help. The heads must be removed and repaired with helicoil kits @ upwards of 800. 00 or more. Please require a recall !!!!!.
Last year about sept 08. . . My 2000 F-250 10 cylinder p-up started very rough-like. It would not do 50 mph anymore as of that same date. I took it to good-year and to two other garages for estimates as to what went wrong. The 10th valve had stuck. I took it to the dealer and they charged me 4,000 dollars to do a valve job. The truck only had 49k miles on it. The entire rear of the engine required all new plugs and wires.

The contact owns a 2002 Ford F-250. He noticed flames emerging from the engine compartment. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine the cause of the failure. The current and failure mileages were 168000.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250 sd diesel. The contact stated that there is a three second lapse to get past the throttle before the engine revs. While the engine is running, it does not gain speed like other vehicles do within two seconds. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for routine maintenance, but they could not find any failures. The contact stated that the failure could be due to the new computer chip that was replaced, but the mechanic stated that it was working correctly and that there was no issue with the engine. The failure mileage was 13,000.

Ford 250 truck 5. 4l triton engine while driving the spark plug blew out of the engine.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250 sd. The contact experienced failure with the vehicle on the date it was purchased. He drove approximately three blocks after leaving the dealer and applied the brakes at a stop sign. The vehicle did not stop. He looked down and noticed that the rpm' s had increased to 4,000. He shut off the vehicle and restarted it, but the engine was still racing. He shut the vehicle back off and then on again, and the vehicle was fine. He drove back to the dealer and they replaced the accelerator pedal with a new one from another vehicle. The failure recurred the very next day and the dealer was notified again on may 30, 2008. The contact was advised to call the manufacturer, who stated that they would have to conduct an investigation and get back to him with the results. The speed was unknown. The failure and current mileages were 6.
Engine spark plug ejection in 200 f250 v-10 engines. Dealer repairing the vehicle, reported that a spark plug detached from the cylinder and/or ejected from the engine. Dealer also noted a letter from Ford stating not to attempt to repair but replace head on engine. This is a extreme problems noting Ford acknowledges the design flaw and needs replacing with newer design that has a longer thread for the spark plug. Gas spews on the engine when spark plug ejects which in turns causes a fire hazard. Does it take a death or an engine to catch fire for someone to notice a problem????? my husband pulled over as soon as he noticed the sound and the smell of gas. It was a good thing that we were not pulling a trailer or on an interstate at the time of the incident.
My 2003 Ford f250 triton v10 blew a spark plug out of the head while I was traveling in traffic.
I own a 2002 Ford F-250 w/ 5. 4 triton v8. On this past Sunday, while driving at 30 mph, a large bang was heard form my engine. The engine began to lose power and slow. After being towed to my local Ford dealer to be checked out, it was discovered that a spark plug had blown out of the cylinder head on the right side of the engine. The service manager at the Ford garage stated it ruined the cylinder head and needs replacement. This service will require a large amount of work and new parts to complete. The cost will be $3400. 00.
I own a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup truck with a 5. 4 liter triton v8. My truck has 103k miles on it. I had just replaced all the spark plugs less than a year ago. Last week on my way to work, I heard a pop and the engine started making a bunch of noise, lost power and quit. Luckily, I was able to pull over into a parking lot and call a tow truck. Once getting it home, I noticed that a spark plug had blown out of the engine. My #3 spark plug on the passenger side blew straight out of the head and destroyed the ignition coil pack. After doing much research over the internet, I've found this to be a very common problem with these Ford engines and Ford won't do anything about it. This will cost well over $3000 to fix. It's a good thing my engine quit so soon, or I could have had gasoline spray out of the open cylinder and cause a serious fire.

2002 Ford F-250 5. 4l spark plug loosened and blew out of cylinder head. 3rd plug from the front on passenger side. Strong smell of gasoline. Broke the coil over plug, could have broken the fuel rail and resulted in fire. Repair cost not yet available - will attempt to fix myself as out of warranty. Cruise control also not working but this truck not included in past recall - concerned about fire hazard in cruise control also.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford F-250 sd. While driving 70 mph, the steering wheel and the front end of the vehicle would shake uncontrollably. The shaking would not stop until the vehicle came to a complete stop. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The current mileage was 30,000 and failure mileage was 22,000.

I was driving home from work last week when my 1999 Ford F-250 5. 4 liter v-8 triton engine blew a spark plug out of the head above the #7 cyl. I had it towed to the local Ford dealer and they said it was caused by poor design, not enough threads in the head to hold the plug in. This is happening to a lot of Ford owners across the country and this is definitely a safety hazard and could cause fires in the engine compartment. They are making me pay the full cost of repair even though the mechanic said the problem is caused by poor design.
The camshaft position sensor on my 1999 Ford 7. 3l powerstroke diesel went out unexpectedly twice.
Spark plug popped out of engine. Once I checked the engine I found that the same thing had occurred on the direct opposite cylinder before.
Failure of engine heli-coil in 2002 Ford F-250 triton 5. 4l gasoline engine. Failure occurred at 89,000 miles. Failure occurred upon startup. Vehicle towed to dealer and heli-coil rethreaded for $1,000. Subsequent research on the web indicates this problem is extremely common in this engine and due to manufacturing/design flaw.
I own a 2001 Ford F-250 pick up with a 5. 4 liter engine. The spark plug blew out the first time in the summer of 2008. Then again in August of 2009. The first time it was repaired with the helicoil repair kit as suggested by Ford. This time, there was no option but replacing the head or the entire engine. This is a serious and very expensive problem. And seems to be too common. After some research over 17,000 vehicles have had this same problem, I believe this is a good reason to recall these vehicles. This is ridiculous. Ford is of no help on what to do the second time this happens but they will throw a $3000. 00 repair bill at you.
: the contact stated while the vehicle was idle, a fire erupted which was caused by a faulty electrical system. The fire originated from the engine compartment front underhood. There were no warning signals prior to the incident. Upon inspection, the cruise control deactivation switch and wiring for the electrical system was observed to be completely burnt to the ground. A fire report was taken# 06-017205. Also, the manufacturer was notified, but would not offer any resolution while this case was under investigation.
I too have a 2001 F-250 with the triton v-10 that had a plug blow from the cylinder. It destroyed the cylinder threads as well as the solenoid. Ford is obviously aware of this problem as they have available a repair kit.
I was making a left turn when I heard a pop, pop, pop. I blew out #3 spark plug in my 2002 f250. It has 72,000 miles on it. I chose to have it repaired rather than replacing the head(600$ as opposed to 3000$). The Ford dealership in wausau WI. Would not repair it,they would only replace the head, and would not admit that this was a recurring problem.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford f250 super duty truck. While driving 55 mph the spark plugs fell out of the engine. The contact drove to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The failure mileage was 55,238. The dealer stated that the failure was due to the spark plugs being loose. The current mileage was 60,000.
An ejection of spark plug has occurred on this vehicle on three different occasions. I understand there have been other complaints regarding this problem. The cost to repair the engine is astronomical. Please investigate.
5/13/06 I came home from about a 75 mile drive, pulling a horse trailer in my 2005 f250 6. 0 power stroke. I went in the house and less than 10 minutes later, my girlfriend asked why is your truck steaming? I could tell it was smoke. I was able to get a few items out and noticed the paint bubbling on the hood. I unhooked the trailer and was able to move the truck about 100 feet, less than a minute later the truck was totally engulfed in flames. A total loss. It had less than 8000 miles. I had tools, toolbox, car seat, and over $2800 in tires wheels and lift that were 2 months old. I had full coverage insurance. They offered me $12000 less than a new truck, and that included the rest of my property. Today I talked to someone that lives 20 miles from me, they had an 2004 f250 powerstroke. Same thing happened to them 11 months ago, parked the truck a few minutes later it's on fire. Thanks Ford!.
