1 Engine Stall problem of the 2002 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/27/2019

2002 F-250 7. 3l diesel. Driving down the highway pulling a horse trailer engine just completely stalled without warning. I lost all steering and brakes. I put it in neutral and restarted while coasting. Drove another few miles and it stalled again. Would not start again after that. This happened on a remote highway at night. Had a wrecker tow us to a diesel shop who reported truck started fine next day. Went and picked it up and it stuttered a few times on the way home but did not stall. A few months later, engine stalled at a red light in heavy traffic but started back up. Took it to my mechanic who read a cam position sensor circuit fault on the computer. Replaced cam position sensor. A few months later, stalled again at an intersection. I coasted to the side of the road and had it towed to my mechanic. Upon arriving and unloading from wrecker. Truck started up. Started to drive it home and stalled again halfway there on a busy rural road with no shoulder. Called wrecker again and towed to different diesel shop. Replaced cps again and truck started fine. Took it home and ran it at idle until engine temp was normal. Engine stalled again and would not start. Waited about 2 hours and it started up just fine and ran at idle for one hour without stalling. Current cps was from Ford dealer (the grey one) but apparently the same problem as the one involved in NHTSA ea06012 recall from 2006 is still a problem. It could stall without warning in the middle of an intersection and cause a serious crash. This is a serious safety issue!!.

6 Engine Stall problem of the 2012 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

On 28 September 2012 I purchased a new 2012 Ford f250 diesel pickup from a Ford dealer. On/about 1 November 2012 while accelerating (from approximately 10 miles per hour speed) into an interstate traffic lane this vehicle suddenly went into an engine near stall/loss of power condition which lasted approximately three to five seconds and then regained normal engine power. This was a very alarming condition as I was entering into high speed traffic and needed capable acceleration while entering into traffic. The truck had approximately 450 miles on it when this first occurred. I took this truck back to the dealer when the truck had 551 miles on it and they could not find anything wrong. While driving the truck on 27 November 2013, this same engine near-stall event occurred under a similar highway ingress condition when the truck had approximately 5,100 miles on it. I called the Ford customer service hotline and was advised to take the truck to a Ford dealer for a second checkup. I then took the truck to a different Ford dealer on 6 January 2014 when the truck had 5,510 miles on it and they could not find the problem. Neither of the two Ford dealers that I've taken the truck to for diagnosis will provide me with a further course of action to fix this recurring engine malfunction. I want this malfunction fixed or a new pickup to replace it, it creates a personal safety hazard for me and my family and the problem has been in the truck from when it was only a month old and had 450 miles on it.

10 Engine Stall problem of the 2001 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/10/2009

The engine blew out another spark plug! this is a major design defect! Ford said the plugs blow out due to improper torque of the spark plugs. Which is impossible since I used the Ford required torque on my spark plugs and I used anti seize on the plugs threads! this is a ongoing problem! I know a person that has only 50k on there 5. 4 engine and the factory installed plugs and those blew out too!! Ford needs to recall these engines and correct the problem. I pulled both of the heads off my F-250 and had stainless steel threaded sleeves installed at the machine shop ! hope this takes care of the problem! I don't trust the trucks engine design for a long trip or even take it on vacation! I am worried the spark plugs will blow out while I am on the highway or out off town! please help us to get Ford to recall this problem as soon as possible please!!!!! I have had 3 other plugs blow out before this ! to do this type of repair is very expensive and unnecessary! but must be done to fix the problem I hope! this is a major design defect and Ford should be made to correct it! we paid hard earned money for these vehicles and should not have to deal with this type of repair over and over !! I'll never buy another Ford if Ford does nothing regarding the spark plugs! I am a certified mechanic and I have never seen any other type of engine have this problem ! please help ! this problem is not even covered under the extended warranty !!! this is very bad for Ford!!! they have nice vehicles but bad engine heads !!!.

11 Engine Stall problem of the 2002 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/05/2009

While driving at 35 mph, a spark plug was ejected from my 2002 Ford F-250 5. 4l v8 pickup truck, causing the engine to stall and resulting in a loss of power for steering and braking. I'm told by my mechanic today, who identified the problem even before I told him why I was there, that this is due to a known defect with many Ford engines, but that no recall was ever issued. Given the danger of fuel vapors escaping from the spark plug hole and risk of fire, perhaps the NHTSA should press Ford on the issue if it really is a common problem.
