The contact stated that while driving at various speeds for approximately six hours with the heat seats in the on position, there was an abnormal burning odor detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. While removing items from the vehicle, she noticed smoke in the back seat near the heated seat, and it caught fire. The contact noticed a huge hole in the driver's side rear seat. The contact was able to extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 1,400.
