Ford F-250 owners have reported 7 problems related to other fuel type engine turbo-charger (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250 sd. While driving approximately 50 mph, the turbo engine stalled with an illumination of a warning indicator. The vehicle began to perform roughly with smoke and flames emitting from the exhaust. When the engine was turned off the flames were no longer visible. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who stated the turbo charger would need to be replaced and including other defective parts. The failure was related to the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 07v139000 (power train: automatic transmission: control module (tcm, pcm)). The contact experienced the identical defect as stated in the recall. The manufacturer was notified and they informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I have owned the truck for approx. 9 months, (third owner). While towing my travel trailer or going uphill unloaded, the turbo will howl loudly and the truck will experience a significant power loss (cannot maintain adequate speed above 45 mph). Also I average only 9 mpg city and 11. 9 mpg highway unloaded weight. I have taken the truck to antelope valley Ford as well as the previous owner and get the same response, "cannot duplicate. It seems as if Ford has instructed their technicians to "cannot duplicate" all complaints in an effort to avoid fixing under warranty.

I have a 2004 f250 diesel. The turbo charger was replaced 6/2007 because it was causing the vehicle to surge while driving. The turbo is again causing the vehicle to surge. This is a serious safety problem.
2004 Ford 6. 0 diesel - turbo hose keeps coming off when towing. Have had it in the shop at least a dozen times- hose and clamps have all been replaced at great cost each time - still the same problem - dealer says no other fix available - multiple people with same problem reporting on the internet.

was unable to reregister my vehicle with the California department of motor vehicles, unless I returned my vehicle to the dealer to have a recall/flash memory re flashed. I had no choice but to do this, otherwise the dmv would not renew by registration. Dealer stated Ford truck did not pass California emissions standards. Issue. Fuel economy fell drastically, and power/torque not like before "upgrade" mandated to my truck. Since that time, the turbo charger has failed, and unit needs to go in for repair. I think with this reflash, I did not get what I paid for with the recall requirement being done. Truck does not have the power and torque as advertised since it failed California smog requirements on a vehicle that does not require smog testing. Dealer states Ford failed "random" emission standards test of a unit picked in the field for testing, and all vehicles in same truck family had to be reflashed if serial number under the one they tested. I asked cal air resources board to look into this, they were interested, but 8 months later still no answer. I did not get what I paid for.
