Bought the truck 2000 Ford f250 used in 2006 and the seat belt retractor would not retract the belt when not in use. The belt would get caught in the door when it was closed. I would have to open the door to get the seat belt loose so it could be used. This problem makes using the seat belt a major problem each time I get into the truck. I bought a new belt and retractor from Ford for about $120 and it worked for about a month and it became the same as the old seat belt. This is a problem on all 2000 model trucks and Ford will not correct the problem. This problem causes you not to want to use the seat belt because of how much trouble it is to be used.

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the front driver side seat belt had malfunctioned and failed to retract when unbuckled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician adjusted the seat belt clip. However, the failure continued to occur. The contact indicated that while operating the cruise control and descending down a hill, the transmission would rapidly down shift reducing the speed and causing the passengers to lunge forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who made adjustments to a computer but the problem continued to occur. No further information was available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000. Pam.

On several occasions, without any reason, my driver-side seat belt has unbuckled itself while the vehicle is moving (speed does not seem to be a factor). After experiencing this a few times I began inserting the buckle and jiggling it and pulling it to make sure it locked firmly before driving. Even after having done this, there have still been times when it unbuckled itself while driving. If I get into in an accident the seat belt may not offer any restraint/protection.

Driver seatbelt unlatches unexpectedly. There doesn't seem to be any particular cause for the latching failure.

Rear seat belt buckle has broken latching mechanism within female buckle. This item is not available from the manufacturer. Seat belt not available from the manufacturer on a 14 year old vehicle ? !.
The driver's seat belt no longer functions. The seat belt can not be buckled. When the metal belt tongue is inserted into the buckle, it will not latch. The latch seems to be jammed. Our family owns four similar model Ford super duties and this problem has occurred on two other of the trucks' seat belts. This is a serious safely issue and appears to be a vehicle defect. We have notified Ford motor company and they said no recall exists so were not willing to assist in correcting the issue. The needs to be addressed immediately.

There is no way to secure rear facing infant child seat into vehicle. No clips or rings to attach the carrier to. Seatbelt alone is not sufficient. Infant carrier is equipped with clips on both sides to attach to secure rings at base of seat. My Ford focus has clips for three rear facing sears. Why not the truck?.
The Ford f250 was turning left on a two way undivided highway. It was struck in the driver's side by a passing semi-truck/trailer. The collision was just behind the driver's seat and back toward the box of the pick-up. It spun the pick-up into the ditch where it rolled once. The front seat passenger was ejected and found lying on the ground by the driver's side of the vehicle with the legs and feet propped up against the vehicle. The driver sustained broken ribs and punctured lung but did not require surgery for sustained injuries. The seat belt showed burn consistent with being loaded with a force and the buckle appeared to have been bent slightly. Examination of the receiver portion showed the outside housing had split and the buckle would not remain in or fasten in at all. It appears that the passenger was ejected when the seat belt system failed.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-250 . The contact noticed that the rear center seat belt buckle was not connected to the seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and the seat belt was connected. The failure and the current mileage was 55,000. Updated 05/08/lj
the consumer stated the seat belt received was only connected by a plastic ring holding it to another receiver. The dealer cut a hole in the carpet to find where it should have been connected.

Driver side seat belt unlatches at random. I've seen complaints about this on this website, so I'm not the only one having this problem. Problem has been going on for a few years and I don't know the date or mileage when it started happening. The dealer just tried to sell me a new latch for around a hundred bucks. Seat belt latches don't just wear out that easy, my '73 mustang has latches that still work.
At random intervals, with no provocation, my seat belt will unclick itself. After I re-buckle, tugging on it will not cause it to release. However this has now happened four times since I bought the vehicle 3 months ago.
Ref:een19-47774 (to be fwd by mail) the front tank strap on the vehicle failed and the tank dropped until supported by skid plate. Some diesel fuel spilled in garage, creating fire hazard but was cleaned up w/o incident. I contacted diehl Ford in bellingham wa as no Ford dealer in juneau ak at that time. I ordered and they sent 2 straps (f72z-9054-ba), bolts&nuts which I found out later were not authorized by safety recall 11s21! I contacted the local (temporary) Ford repair facility--evergreen motor works relative to this repair and they discovered the safety recall 11s21 and stated that alaska vehicles were not covered by this recall. I cotacted Ford motor CO. By email and got the same answer. As a senior electrical engineer I know this is total bs as alaska has much worse weather conditions than any of the :south 48" states covered by safety recall 11s21!! stanley Ford is now the local Ford dealer but still could not fix my Ford f250 tank strap under the recall but could fix the safety recall 09s09 speed control mod! it should be also noted that the driver seat belt buckle failed about the same time!! Ford CO. Did not seem interested in this problem. I replaced this immediately as I feel safety is very important! signed/ larry hooton sr. Engineer.

Tl-the contact owns a 2000 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the front driver's seat belt would experience difficulty latching into its buckle. The failure progressed until the seat belt would no longer remove from its buckle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the seat belt buckle would needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 120,000. Sm.
At various times, the driver's side seat belt buckle will release causing the belt to become loose. It happens at all speeds and usually will happen multiple times during a trip or not at all. I have never had it happen on the passenger's side seat belt.
Seat belt on driver side disconnects randomly. It has gone over 200 miles without disconnecting, but rarely further than that. Ford service department could find no problem and so did not fix anything. It disconnected about 10 miles after I left the dealer. I push in the left side male part and it clicks. I usually jiggle it and give it a tug, but that has had no effect on when or where it disconnects. There was a recall in 2001, but I have not been able to find out if the part was repaired/replaced at that time. I've used the same Ford service location since I bought the truck.
I own a 1999 f250 sd that the driver seat belt will just unlatch itself at any time while I'm driving. The local dealer said they have not had any other complaints like this.

Seat belt on driver side will not latch every time.
I ordered a 2008 F-250 super duty lariat crew cab in March 2008 and took delivery in late April 2008. When trying to install a child safety seat, I realized there was a problem with the seatbelt in the inboard rear seat. It would not go into automatic locking mode for the correct installation of the child safety seat as the two outboard rear seats and the outboard passenger seat did. I took it to my dealer, who replaced the inboard rear seatbelt only to find that one didn't work either. Upon close examination of my owners manual I found that it said that only the outboard rear seats and the front passenger seat had seatbelts with an automatic locking mode. ¿ the tech service line told my dealer that the rear inboard seat was not supposed to have an automatic locking mode and leo from customer service told me the same. Ford was forced to change from a type 1 lap belt in the rear inboard seat to a type 2 integral lap/shoulder belt because of antons law, which was signed December 4, 2002. One of the primary reasons for this law was the increased protection that children between the ages of four and eight gain by having a lap/shoulder belt made available in rear inboard seating positions. When these type 2 belts are installed in the rear inboard seating position, there is an additional, and potentially safer, seating position available for a child in a belt-positioning booster seat. ¿.
My husband and I just bought a new 2008 Ford F-250 crew cab pickup. When I was installing the car seat, after we got home, I noticed that it doesn't have any lower anchors for the latch system. I did notice the upper tethers when we were looking at the vehicle before we bought it, so I figured it would have the lower anchors. Why isn't there any lower anchors, that is part of the latch system. Also, the middle seat belt in the back seat is not a retractable one, but the front passenger seat is. That does not make sense, you are not to have a child in the front seat, especially when you have a back seat. Putting your child in the middle of the back seat is the safest place for them and there is not even a retractable seat belt or lower anchors for a car seat there. Is Ford trying to cut corners on safety? if I would have noticed that I would have thought twice before purchasing the vehicle. I thought that it was standard for all new vehicles to have the latch system. I realize that it is a heavy duty pick up but that doesn't mean that kids won't ride in them. They still need the proper safety seat options that the light duty pickups and cars do.
Shortly after purchasing my 2008 Ford f250, I noticed that the seat belts would lock into place when braking as they should but would not release without removing the buckle to reset them. Bumps often set off the locking. I took the truck to the dealer and they acknowledged the problem and that Ford offered no fix. When the seat belt locks, I am unable to reach forward to access controls or turn well enough to see when changing lanes until I unlatch and resnap the buckle.
The front and rear seat belts would not stay locked in the belt buckle and would release. The dealership repaired the problem once, but the consumer was still having the same problem.
The seat belt would not retract properly.
: the contact stated the front center seat belt loosened and failed to stay tight. If the belt is pulled it will tighten, but it has too much play and may not accurately hold the passenger in the event of an accident. The buckle will not come undone. The service dealer replaced the seat belt three times and the dealer claims the belt worked even though it is loose and the dealer will not change it anymore. This has been an issue since the vehicle was first acquired when it was new. Updated 9/27/2006 -.
When the rear passenger seat belts are in use, they would tighten up for no reason. Would have no warning when this would happen. The locking mechanism on the seat would fail to release the belt. Would have cut the belt to release individual. Brakes were used at time of tightening incident. Took vehicle to dealer & mechanic ordered a new belt system for rear of vehicle.
Consumer called complaining about the seat belts being too loose. Manufacturer was contacted,m and had fixed them, but they still go bad.
Driver's automatic seat belt does not properly fit the driver, it comes across the neck and not the shoulder. Dealer states that thisis a manufactures design flaw. Please give any further details.
