Ford F-250 owners have reported 2 problems related to service engine light on (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Service engine light came on twice while vehicle was under warranty. Dealer serviced both times and was unable to rectify or understand the problem. They only cleared the fault codes. The code identified was for the reductant heater pump - low voltage. The same code just came back on for the 3rd time - this time identified by a diesel performance shop - with advice to replace the reductant pump. Previous make and model superduty trucks have had recalls for the same thing. This is an obvious issue, not sure why Ford service shops could not rectify. Truck is now out of warranty and I am forced to pay out of pocket. Unacceptable service and care! -cold weather each time -engine light comes on - same code each time -reduced speed and sluggish performance -code cleared - truck performs normal -obvious that the reductant heat pump is not doing what it is designed to do.

Ford f250 engine stopped and vehicle lost power steering and brakes. While driving down a steep hill with the cruise control set the vehicle stalled which resulted in no power steering or brakes. The driver managed to put the vehicle in neutral and restart it. The vehicle was taken to the dealer with the service dept was closed. The consumer spoke to the service manager who indicated that if the service engine light wasn't still illuminated that they couldn't determine the problem. Twelve days later the consumer experienced the same type of failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and left there from 11 am to 5:30 pm. The dealer was unable to determine the problem although they did perform various other updates. The vehicle was taken to another dealer who was also unable to determine the caused. The technician call Ford tech service who advised him that they were aware of the problem but currently had no solution or timer frame for resolving the problem. The consumer is requesting his money back since the dealer nor the manufacturer can provide a solution in a timely manner. See odi 10067096 also.
