1 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2013

Truck with 6. 0l diesel engine experiences stalling without warning while driving and may or may not restart this has happened on several occasions.

2 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2012

Engine began bucking, sudden power loss and power steering and power brake loss. Mechanic conclusion was that the lining of the fuel tank had dislodged and caused the engine to foul, causing a sudden power loss. Dealer said they had never heard of the problem but we later learned they were very familiar with it, had done dozens of repairs (replacement of tank with poly tank) and that a "secret" repair bulletin had been issued ty Ford to all dealers. This issue is now the subject of a class action lawsuit in new jersey. Google "Ford fuel tank lining" for more info on the suit, but by not issuing a recall this issue is a potential safety concern. Had we been in heavier traffic and unable to get the vehicle to the side of the road there may have been a serious accident.

Truck started running a little sluggish first two days and then began runnig rough and sluggish at time of accelaration and then blow big puff of black smoke out and take off with allot more power than normal. . It is at Ford dealership being repaired now having injectors, fuel pump and fuel tank recoated because they say Ford has a national back order on these tanks and will take 6 months to get. This tells me along with the problems I am finding other people are having online that this is a big problem.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F-350 sd. While the contact was driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 40 mph and would not increase in speed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the fuel filters and engine injectors. Within 1,500 miles, the identical failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic; and the fuel tank liner was cleaned and the fuel pump was also replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

5 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

Egr cooler on my Ford F-350 super duty diesel went out a little over a year ago. Truck was under warranty. They fixed it with about a $100 fee. Just today my truck started having the same issue so I took it in and they told me it was the egr cooler and that because of that issue it has ruined the head gaskets also. The mechanic at Ford told me that most trucks that have this issue will always have this issue recurring every year or so. Wondering why this has not been recalled by Ford. After the mechanic told me about the issue I googled this issue and there are so many that are having this issue or have had it before.

8 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2010

I have a 2004 f350 diesel truck. As I was traveling on i75, the vehicle had a sudden loss of power and speed dropped to below 30 mph. This caused a problem as I was moving substantially slower than surrounding traffic which was a safety problem. Examination of fuel tank by a repair person showed a delamination of the tank. I have had the tank cleaned out but will have to replace the tank. In researching the problem on the internet this seems to be a common problem with 2004 and 2005 Ford trucks.

9 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2009

My 2004 Ford 350 super duty began irregular fuel feeding while I was driving down rt 95 from va to GA. I pulled off at an exit in kingsland, GA. And got a room at the days inn. While attempting to park in the motel parking lot. . . With my foot on the brake. . . The engine surged and the truck moved at least 15-20 feet forward because of the fuel surging. I had my foot on the brake and never touched the accelerator and I could not stop the truck from moving forward. I had it towed to the local Ford dealership where they diagnosed a bad "sensor. " they charged me about $1,400 for repairs and it has been working fine since. I am reporting this to NHTSA, in part, because of the Toyota publicity recently. I'm not a Toyota fan, I'm a Ford loyalist, but it occurred to me that a surge like the one I experienced in my super duty could have resulted in injury or death to others if it had occurred under other circumstances. My truck is the 6. 0 liter model and only had about 52,000 miles on it at the time it began surging. I can probably find the receipt for repairs and the name/number of the Ford dealership who repaired the truck if needed. Thanks!.

2004 Ford f350 dump truck shuts down with no warning. Consumer states that Ford will not honor truck warranty and will not repair the problem. The consumer stated when the dump truck shut down, there was no power steering or brakes. The dealer stated the problem was with the diesel tank and diesel line which had eroded due to containments in the diesel gas, however the problem recurred two more times.

14 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2007

The truck stalled in rush hour traffic, just before the entrance to a tunnel. This could have been a very serious safety issue had I not been able to get out of the travel lanes of the interstate. Managed to cross from the right lane, across a merge lane to the shoulder. Managed to restart engine. Excessive smoke, running rough. Stayed on shoulder until engine ran smooth enough to go. Taken to dealer. Egr valve replaced. Intake manifold cleaned. Turbo cleaned. Cost $1776. 82 to repair. Supposedly not covered by warranty. This happened on either the first Monday of November or the last Monday of October, as well as the previous Friday.

15 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2006

Diesel smell in the cab of a Ford f350 truck with 6. 0 engine. This is the second instance of this in this truck. Both have been covered by warranty, but the first time was in may of 05 and the second time was Feb 06 is this going to happen again. The smell is sickening and if you do not open the windows eyes water, feel tired, sick to stomach, all not good for driving down the road (people really look at you like you are nuts when its 5 degrees outside and you are driving around with your windows open). This time it has been blamed on the exhaust manifold, the first time it was what they called the down exhaust pipe. I believe that there is a bigger problem which has to do with the 6. 0 engine. Too much pressure for the exhaust. The other problem is with the radiator hose. I have 46700 miles on the truck and the radiator hose has to be replaced due to rubbing on the power steering gear box, Ford will not cover this under warranty, even though they have come up with a new hose and new part number to stop this from happening. I have not been told if they are replacing the hose with the old style or the new style.

17 Diesel Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2004

1. ) I own an 04, f350 superduty, diesel truck. There are 2 fuel filters \ water seperators on it. One on the drivers side, under the frame and the other on top of the engine. Owners manual reccomends that you must drain the one under the frame at least with every fill up to prevent water from getting into the engine. 2. ) the problem is that you must use an allen wrench under the frame to loosen the screw for the fuel in the filter to drain out. Ford reccomends at least 25 seconds and into a container. I have done this 5 times now. 4 times the screw has fallen out and I was soaked with diesel fuel, and had a 45 second or so flow of fuel on the ground, contaminating it. 3. ) I feel that there needs to be a recall to change that drain screw to a petcock or a spring loaded screw to prevent the screw from falling out. This would prevent these small fuel spills that are harmful to the enviornment, and the dangereous fuel that is being spilled onto people.
