Driving thru town 25mph or less turning one corner fine then another corner the opposite direction and only steering wheel turned. My truck went straight into the rock wall damaged hood fender, bumper, headlight bezel and lights driver wheel, and when diagnosed the original problem it was the steering gearbox failure.
Had just back the vehicle in cut it off, half an hour later it was in flames, burnt everything in the motor and front of truck up.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Ford F-350. While driving over a bump in the road, the vehicle shook, bounced, and made a squeaking noise. The contact called schultz Ford Lincoln (located at 80 nu-304, nanuet, NY 10954, (877) 724-8589) and was informed to contact the manufacturer to see if the vehicle was covered under warranty or recalls. In addition, when the contact check under the vehicle, he noticed that the rubber bushing disintegrated from the cab and chassis. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The contact was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty and there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.
Bed rails are rotting prematurely causing safety concern when truck is towing or there is weight in the bed of the truck I feel that this may cause a safety issue for passengers in the truck as well as other motorist on the roadway. Fifth wheel hitch connection shift because of rotted rail causing jam in hitch creating travel hazard.
I was driving a f-f350 sd crew cab pickup truck with a truck shell top approximately 65 mph when the left rear tire tread began to separate from the tire cord, resulting in the tread thrashing (approximately 6 revolutions) the interior and exterior of the left rear quarter panel causing extreme body damage to the wheel well, bumper, upper truck shell sliding window. This was a very violent explosion when the tread finally separated and flew off the tire cord. I then stopped the vehicle, assessed the problem, retrieved the tire tread which remained intact, also in one piece. . . ! amazingly, the tire cord remained intact, still pressurized and holding air. . . And I was able to limp home at approximately 30 mph. Went to the Ford dealership, who were not initially helpful pointing the finger to b. F. Goodrich, who I did called and I received a return phone call the next day. I then went to the dealership again, who removed the tire, and preserved the tread and tire, and I was instructed by the b. F. Goodrich representative to ship the tire for inspection to their offices. The initial inspection at the Ford dealership was found to be inconclusive. . . As to whether or not the separation was caused by a road hazard, which it was not, and then I was told I would have to ship the tire to them for further investigation, and whether or not they would provide reimbursement for the $3-$4k in body damage to my truck. Preparing the tire for shipping to b. F. Goodrich and waiting on the status of the remainder of my body damage claim.
On the evening of 6/13/2014, I was driving my 2008 Ford F-350 through the drive through line of white castle in commack, new york, 11725. As I went to make a right turn to follow the drive through lane, a heard a metal breaking sound followed by complete loss of steering. Within less than 1 second from this happening, my vehicle collided with a cinder block wall causing significant front end damage to the bumper, fender and headlight. There were no injuries to myself or any passengers as well as the wall had minimal damage. I had a police report filed with the suffolk county police department. The report corroborates my statement of complete steering loss as the direct result of the accident. The vehicle was towed to my mechanic, north shore firestone in commack. Upon investigation they determined the gears inside of the steering box completely failed. They could be of further assistance detailing what the internals of the steering box looked like if needed. They also informed me there is a 2 month back log on the replacement for this part. Being that there is a replacement backlog, Ford must know there is a design flaw. This part needs to be redesigned to stand up to the difficult task of getting white castle! this failure not only caused damage to my truck costing over $5,000, but this will cause my insurance to go up as well. If this causes me to be dropped from my insurance, I will have major problems being that all of my jobs require me to have transportation. Please have Ford fix this problem so no one else is involved in an accident. I was lucky I was going at a low speed, but the next person may not be as lucky as I was.
The moon roof track on my Ford F-350 (2008) failed after about 5 years. I had it replaced at jim click Ford in tucson at the beginning of 2013 at a cost of $2400. 00. At the beginning of 2015 it failed again. Neither the dealer nor Ford have an answer for the failure(s) and both said I need to do the repair again at my expense. I feel that the moon roof apparatus should be sturdy enough to last the lifespan of the vehicle. My contention is that this issue is a defect and could be a safety issue is the moon roof is blown off or cannot be sealed. From the beginning with this truck when I would drive it forward in high winds the moon roof would lift and chatter. The frame is plastic and not very sturdy. I'm sure Ford uses this same plastic frame on many of their vehicles and I think that researching repair records of those vehicles using this frame might be of use in seeing if failures are frequent and a possible safety issue.
Items in my bed and liner caught on fire. Engine regeneration for emissions got so hot melted all of the bed liner and caught a new large tv on fire. Ford has a glue on heat shield under bed which fell off. Exhaust gets so hot it caught on fire. They should have put a metal fixed plate or something fixed no a cheap glue on piece of foil. I inspected other trucks all missing!.
