Two problems related to power steering pump have been reported for the 2008 Ford F-350. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Pulled onto highway,(us-36) accelerated to 45 mph. Truck started wandering, unable to steer straight. Returned home and parked truck. Took to dealer a week later. Unable to find problem. A couple of months later truck did same thing. Retuned to dealer, they flushed power steering pump. Worked ok for 2-3 months. Then same thing happened 3rd time. Returned truck to dealer, they changed power steering pump. Has been ok for 6 months. Now unable to drive over 40 mph afraid of losing control of truck. In private shop for repairs now. Aftermarket steering box back ordered. Unknown when available.
Driving on a corner onramp the truck's power steering gave out and the vehicle became almost impossible to steer. I applied the brakes and the steering returned. This has happened numerous times while driving. No issues were found with the power steering pump. Recently had the power steering system flushed and that seemed to improve the problem; however, it's starting to return. Will be taking it back in again to see if the issue can be fixed.
