Due to moisture and debris getting into the fuse box under the hood of the vehicle, the relay for the low beam headlights has corroded and one of the pins is corroded into the fuse box. This has left me without the use of my low beam headlights. I have contacted Ford us and was told there was nothing they could do. The repair for this issue will cost approximately $1500 from the dealer for parts and labor without any solution to the sealing of the fuse box. When I called Ford us customer service and requested to speak with a supervisor regarding the issue, they hung up on my. This problem has been ongoing with 2011-2013 Ford Fiestas. This is a safety concern as the headlights just quiet working. This fuse box also controls various other critical components of the vehicle and is tied into the main wiring harness. The corrosion issues can also affect those systems as well.

Have had constant issues with the radio unit, now on my 2nd unit. Radio starts making a popping, crackling, thumping loud sound from the speakers, until stops working with no sound. Then these thumping sounds are generated even with the radio off (not playing anything)! which I presume a short or wiring issue. I'm shocked we haven't gotten in an accident from jumping/jerking the steering wheel when it happens. Many complaints online to Ford about Fiestas and focus vehicles but they have not done anything, and the dealer just wants to charge for labor just for inspecting. Please look into this issue. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fiesta. While driving 60 mph at night, the contact was pulled over by a state trooper who alerted her that the vehicle's headlights were not illuminated. The vehicle was taken to courtesy auto & truck center (103 e hill st, thorp, WI 54771) where it was diagnosed that the battery junction box had corroded all the headlight wiring, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Engine malfunction error and loss of performance due to manufactor defect in wire harness. Ford claims this is a issue done during manufacturing and the fix is to re wire the harness under dash but is not covered due to it being a wiring issue. Loss of performance in vehicle is a safety issue if driving on a free way or other roads and you car loses most power. Ford has said that this issue is not the worry but it is a very known issue and consumers just have to pay and have it fixed which is costs in the thousands for there manufacturing defect. This issue happens when accelerating or just driving on highway or city streets. It happens non stop randomly and has been happeniing for about 6 months with no help from Ford to fix the issues. This is a safety issue because when it happens your car does not want to accelerate it jolts and starts not buring gasoline all the way it also will cause smog issues due to check engine light and you also need to pull vehicle over where ever you are at to turn it off wait a few mins and then it back on so you can keep driving.
While in motion, my vehicle had an intermittent electrical issue. The service wrench appears, and displays "engine malfunction, seivce now" the engine then derates and runs very rough. With a manual transmission, it is difficult to shift gerars without stalling. Upon turning off and restarting, the engine resets and runs normally. Occurences are random without any warning. This is a safety issue. In one instance my engine nearly stalled in a busy intersection as a result of this issue. Ford has a TSB for the issue (13-11-15) that involves changing the wiring of the car. I believe this should be elevated to recall status so that repairs are covered. Given that it is a design issue that was built in to the vehicle and requires a change to the wiring to fix, Ford should be responsible for the service. I was billed $442. 85 by my dealer to correct this issue.
The vehicle had an abnormal idle while at a stop, and would sometimes stall. Upon acceleration the vehicle would hesitate and jerk forward. I took the vehicle to the dealership to rectify the issue. I was told that the mechanic cleared the code for the check engine light, but the internal wiring harness needed to be replaced, on a car that was a little over 2 years old. The internal wiring harness was not covered under any type of warranty. The repair was completed at a cost to me of $245. 99. Less than 2 months later, the vehicle was having the same issues, abnormal idle, stalling, and hesitant and jerky accelerating. Again, I took the car back to the dealership for repair. This time the dealership replaced the transmission and clutch front seals, input seals, and axles seals, changed transmission fluid, added 2 quarts of transmission dual clutch transmission fluid. This repair was covered under the Ford 5 year, 60,000 mile power train warranty. About 5 weeks later I was still having the same issues, abnormal idle, hesitant and jerky acceleration. Again, I took my car to the dealership. This time I was told that the throttle body was bad and needed to be replaced. With no choice, I need to get to work, I told them to go ahead with the repair which once again was not covered under any type of warranty. The total for this repair cost me $720. 26. In less than 3 years I have had to go to the dealership for major repairs 3 times and spent just under $1,000, plus the inconvenience of rental cars, days off of work, and the general annoyance of knowing my new vehicle has major mechanical issues.
First time it almost completely died on me getting on the highway, then all of the sudden it gunned it and took off. About 3 miles down the high way engine lights and service lights came on. I got to work and they towed it. They said they changed some kind of wiring under the front window and dash. That didn't fix it. The next day I was pulling out of wendy's and give it some gas and nothing happened. I rolled then all of the sudden it gunned it again. I almost got hit. Got it home and parted it. Took it in the next day and they changed the throttle body on it. It still hesitates as you go down the highway. Has very little take off and merging power. The only thing I am glad I did when I bought this car was I got a straight drive. It would have no power if it was an automatic.
