3 Wiring problem of the 2006 Ford Five Hundred

Failure Date: 10/20/2008

Low beam headlamp socket on the drivers side failed. One of the socket contacts showed evidence of a catastrophic electrical failure - looks like severe arcing, burned plastic, broken socket shell and badly burned pin in the lamp. The lamp itself is still o. K. , except for the badly burned pin. About a week and a half later the same thing happened to the low beam lamp on the passenger side. Same damage to the same pin in the socket. That lamp is also o. K. Except for the burned pin. This would appear to be a problem with the sockets/vehicle wiring, not the lamps. These lamps are mounted quite high and are reasonably well protected so it is unlikely that this is a moisture problem. The cost of the replacement socket from Ford is simply outrageous! dealer says this is the first case they've seen of this happening - but I heard the same thing when I had problems with the rear brakes and I now know that certainly wasn't true! has anyone else had this problem?.

4 Wiring problem of the 2005 Ford Five Hundred

Failure Date: 11/18/2006

The electrical system through out the car is being heard in the speakers. If the seats, window, etc. , etc. Are touched you can hear them through the back end with a loud roaring noise. It is so loud that you can not keep the radio on. It only reacts when it is extremely hot, extremely cold or after the car has been washed or it rains. We have taken this to the dealer where the amp, radio, cd player and speakers have all been replaced 3 times. They have even eliminated water leak which only leaves wiring issues in which they refuse to replace. Our fear is that it could cause fire. We have arbitrated and contacted corporate and they refuse to do anything about it. We even took this to another Ford dealer in which they told us after showing them all the work orders that they will not get involved since it is a pre-existing issue that another dealer has tried to resolve many, many times. Just be cautious and place your vehicle inside away from these conditions so it doesn't act up and cause more issues.
