My craddle is rusted through all the way to the lower control arm and has a visible crack. I'm told this is a safety issue and concern as well as a safety hazard when one can be injured due to the engine falling out to name one. I'm told by a mechanic this is a factory default. I am very concerned and would greatly appreciate some assistance with this matter. Sincerely, charles wood 317-681-0217 09/05/2020.

The failure mileage was unknown.
Engine turbo failure while driving on highway during a longer road trip (~600 miles, majority at highway speeds). This is the v6 ecoboost engine. I was informed by dealership repair shop that it fell apart and parts of it were sucked back into the engine. Significant knocking and pop sound from engine while driving; significant loss of power when accelerating.

We have replaced the turbos in or Ford Flex ecoboost 5 times within 2. 5 years!! the front and rear turbos both just went again within one month of each other!! we were finally told by a Lincoln mechanic the issue is a bad/faulty oil seperator made by Ford. It is pushing too much oil into the turbos causing them to literally blow up!! smoke everywhere and car is undrivable. I have small children and this is completely unsafe and dangerous!!.

10/15/2019 car went into limp mode with wrench showing. Turned the car off ad back on to see if it would help as it did this while driving in the middle of the road on a city street. It proceeded to return to limp mode almost immediately. Car was towed to mechanic who indicated the codes thrown were for a throttle body failure. The throttle body was replaced. A few days later it happened again and the throttle body was replaced under warranty for a second time along with the pcm. About 10 days later the car went into limp mode again and this time some wiring was replaced and we are waiting on the ecm. It is extremely unsafe when this occurs and we are fearful the problem will not be fixed since it has been in and out of the shop four times now; we are also afraid to travel on the highway for fear the car will go into limp mode dropping from 65 miles per hour to 5 also immediately. This seems to have been an issue with several makes and models of vehicles according to common repair complaints but especially Ford. Costs of repair and trouble shooting is also problematic. A complaint is also being filed with Ford.

Failure of engine to start/run due to a faulty fuel pump control module. Current Ford safety recall #16s31 (NHTSA #16v621) is limited only to Ford/Lincoln vehicles equipped with the ecoboost turbocharged engine. The faulty component on my normally aspirated engine, fuel pump control module #aa8z-9d370-b, is the same component being replaced on vehicles affected by the #16v621 NHTSA safety recall. To avoid engines shutting off at speed or not starting, it appears that the recall will need to be expanded to include normally aspirated engines as well. We were fortunate because our vehicle failed sitting in our driveway, not at 75 mph on the highway. My wife's concern is what would have happened to her and our four grandchildren if this failure had taken place on the interstate in busy traffic at 75 mph. Why is the same component that is failing on ecoboost turbocharged engines being covered by Ford safety recall #16s31 not being recalled on similar vehicles equipped normally aspirated engines using the identical component? failure of the component has the same effect of an engine that cuts off at speed or will not start. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. The safety of the owners of these popular Ford/Lincoln family vehicles is at stake.
Wrench light appears on dash and the car loses all power - known as "limp home" mode. Codes clear upon restart. Took it to dealer after freeway incident on 2/17/19, dealer found no codes, stated it was motor mount. Got the car back on 2/25/17, and it happened again within 30 miles. Was able to pull code with my own scan tool - p2111. Known error in throttle. This happened while traveling approximately 40 mph, and once on expressway, two additional times at around 20 mph.
Wife stopped and got gas, drove approximately 45miles, parked in the garage and wouldn't start the next morning. . . . . I attempted several times to get it started, and determined it was a fuel issue. Searched the web and found several complaints regarding 2013-2015 Flexs' with same complaint. Diagnosis was fuel pump relay, but not mine????.
There is currently an issue with our ecoboost v6 turbo charger. There is a old drain tube leak that has been identified through Ford and is a fire safety issue. This issue has been recalled for the 2014 and 2015 Ford Flex which is identical parts as our vehicle but never recalled. Would like to see this get recalled before harm is had. This is an ongoing leak that has gotten worse over time.

My 2011 Ford Flex 3. 5l engine has had cadastrofic failed due to premature failure of the internal chain driven waterpump. The o-rings on the waterpump failed there by allowing oil into the coolant and causing the prepellers on the waterpump to break off and block the water passages in the engine with the oil and propeller parts. Also, allowing coolant into the oil. Through my research, I have come across many Flex owners as well as othe Ford owner that have the same 3. 5l engine withe the internal chain driven waterpump have had the same or gerry simular issues and many have had to spend thousands for a new engine. Ford needs to recall this design flawed engine and waterpump.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact stated that he repaired the vehicle himself, but the details were not provided. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
Car just dies in the middle of driving and the steering systemlocks up. There has been a known recall for a fuel control module on Ford Flex, there is also known fuel pump problems with Ford makes and models. I have lost power twice. Had at the mechanic last month. Could not get it to die for an entire week in the shop. Now it is dead in a parking lot again.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Ford Flex. While the vehicle was parked in the driveway, smoke appeared from the hood and the vehicle spontaneously caught on fire. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.
Breaks and rotors have been worked on 3 times within 1 year by carmax. In addition, bearings have been replaced. Additionally, the vehicles computer module failed. Also, the fuel pump.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Ford Flex. While driving approximately 5 mph attempting to merge onto a highway, the vehicle started to lose acceleration and hesitated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact drove to an independent mechanic who determined that the throttle body was clogged and needed cleaning. Oil seperator.
When driving and the car begins to accelerate past 40mph the car shudders and jerks. This has been going on for over a year. The Ford dealer test drove it and couldn't duplicate what I experience often.
Vehicle was in motion and it cut off for the 2nd time. Now it wont startm rolled into business parking lot.

It keeps saying sensor we had replaced twice is still bad. The transmission doesn't accelerate sometimes.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Flex. While the vehicle was parked in the enclosed garage attached to his home, a burning electrical odor was noticed. The contact went to the garage and noticed flames surrounding the front of the vehicle. The contact opened the hood and flames were visible between the rear of the engine and windshield. The contact extinguished the fire. The fire and police departments were not notified. No injuries were sustained. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and advised the contact to call his auto insurance company. No further assistance was offered. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic whom determined the cause of the fire as being related to the wiring harness leading to the power steering. The vehicle was also towed to capital Ford Lincoln of rocky mount (2012 stone rose dr, rocky mount, nc 27804 (252) 977-1234) where the wiring harness was diagnosed as the cause of the failure and replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
Vehicle lost engine power while driving on 4 separate occasions, once while at highway speeds. Only fault indicator shown is "wrench" symbol. Upon shutdown and restart, issue resolves itself until it occurs again. There are no symptoms leading up to power loss, and it surprises driver since there is no driveline power, as well as reduced braking and steering capability. This is especially dangerous on the highway and at in traffic. Dealer has stated that since it cannot be easily repeated, that they cannot fix it.
Tamara recall.
Timing chain rattle upon startup is getting worse. Same issue with f150 ecoboost motors was covered under recall but nothing for Ford Flex. The timing chain breaking can cause an engine lockup and create a dangerous accident.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start in cold weather. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to huntington Ford (2890 s rochester rd, rochester hills, mi 48307, (248) 852-0400) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in any recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 65,818.
Shuttered at highway speed. Both turbochargers on the ecoboost engine are destroyed at 62,000 miles. Metal shavings in the oil filter clogged oil lines. Most likely engine destroyed.
When I put gas in the gas either fill up or even just a cap off on the gas tank, starting the engin is dificult. It hesitates, when trying to start, and has a rough very rough idle. Accelaration is not a problem once we get going, but it is the initial starting of the vehicle that is a problem.
Driving up an on ramp to an interstate, suddenly all the lights started flashing on the dashboard display. I could not see any speed or driving information. I pulled over to the side of the road turned off the vehicle and it would not restart. Nothing would happen when I turned the key, dashboard lights still flashed. Car restarted after 5 minutes and I drove it directly to the dealership. By the time I arrived at grappone Ford in concord, nh my dealership the dashboard lights were again flashing and I could not see any data.
Driving 65. Mph car lost power . Iwas able to pull to side of road. Turned car off and on it restarted took to Ford dealership they said it was throttle body replaced at 700. There is no recall, but Ford is aware of danger. Ous defect . Tech said.
