1 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2007

The contact owns a 2000 Ford Focus. On April 21, 2007 the contact had the vehicle checked along with an oil change. After driving 50 miles at speeds between 65-70 mph the engine light illuminated and the vehicle began to vibrate, stall, surge, and lose power before failing completely. The vehicle restarted, and was taken to a Ford dealer for a diagnostic test. The mechanic diagnosed the failure as the fuel system. The vehicle had safety recall # 06e056000 concerning fuel system, gasoline, but the vehicle was excluded due to the VIN. The vehiclewas currently at the Ford dealer. The current and failure mileages were 154,000.

While attempting to pass on a two-lane highway, my 2000 Ford Focus sputtered and loss speed for no reason. 6 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2002

On winding turns and hills car would act as if it was out of gas, especially if tank fell below half. Car stall on one occassions but on others I took foot off gas and managed to recover power. The dealer replaced the fuel filter and pump (with the explanation that it was failing under heavy load). While the problem has not repeated itself, the car feels more sluggish than it used to. I also try to keep the tank above half full, as several sites have recommended.

7 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2002

I have had numerous problems with my 2000 Focus. Ford has not been willing to fix any problem due to the fact that I'm out of my warranty. My power steering switch has went out 2 times and when I take it back now there telling me it wasn't the switch, its the pump. Since that's out of warranty they can't refund my money or anything. Ford has a recall on left wheel bearings, but I had to pay for mine to be done, because the recall was in 2001 and my bearings did not go bad until 2002. There is too many things wrong with the Ford Focus. I have never seen a car in which I had to fix every 5 months. The current issue is that the car is stalling. In idle it will get a point where it will cut off. When shifting to different gears, it hesitates. The car is shaking like it will eventually cut off. It has cut off 3 times and the emission/engine light came on. Dt.

The car has stalled during regular driving 2 times now. First time was about 1 month ago. That time, it started about 30 minutes later. Today, it stalled again during regular driving. The car will not start again this time.

10 Fuel Injection problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2001

This problem started happening around 12,000 miles, and while this form asks for a failure date, it does it so much it is hard to say, I put an approximate date of the worst occurrence because of the problem. I realize there is already an investigation about this, I just wanted to add another testimony. When the fuel tank is less than half full, and the car takes right-turns, especially long, sweeping turns, such as highway entrance/exit ramps, the car will jerk and lurch violently, refusing to accelerate, and will stall if provoked enough. If I back off the gas, it recovers, but twice it has completely stalled out, refusing to turn back on for a few hours, one of these times was in heavy highway traffic, I coasted at about 25mph since it would not accelerate, then it eventually died. This particular incident, my dealer filled the tank with gas (which does not allow for the problem to occur, kind of stupid of them), and then drove it around, but would not allow me to show them how to replicate the problem. I must now keep my gas tank more than half full, because of the dangers in getting on and off the highway. It even does it around town now, at times. . Read more...
