The contact owns a 2000 Ford Focus. While driving between 55-60 mph, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The contact pulled over and opened the gas cap, which was difficult to open. When the cap was finally opened, there was a popping sound coming from the gas tank. The contact noticed that the temperature in the vehicle was warmer than normal. Ford stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 03v482000 (fuel system, gasoline). The current mileage was 146,000 and failure mileage was 145,150.
Smelled fuel strong smell after parking the vehicle overnight. Unsuccessfully attempted to start resulting in fuel spraying from the top of the fuel tank over underside of vehicle .
In the last 6 months I've owned this vehicle I cannot let it go below a quarter tank or the vehicle acts like it's running out of gas. I've replaced the fuel filter and problem still occurs. Dealer wants to charge to tell me whats wrong but I feel this is a defect from Ford as I've researched and found several other complaints that are the same. Hoping for a recall. . . . . .
Fuel filler hose has cracked, and cause fuel to leak out while driving. Dealer notified.
Owner noticed a puddle underneath vehicle after parking for several hours. Gas tank was leaking. Fuel had leaked all over the exhaust pipe, and other areas underneath. The vehicle stalled while driving on the highway three times. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and replaced fuel injection system ,the entire gas tank and fuel delivery system but the problem still occurred.
Consumer stated the gas cap was difficult to open, the dealer replaced the gas cap.
The consumer complained about a vehicle speed control problem. This problem has been occurring since the consumer purchased the vehicle on March 1, 2000. The consumer took vehicle to dealer, and they told her there was no problem. There is NHTSA recall 99v346000 on this issue for the 2000 Ford . Focus zx3. The consumer owns a zts 2000 Ford Focus, which is not included in the recall. Also, there is a fuel system problem. Vehicle experiences hesitation, loss of power, surging, and dyeing this problem first started on June 1, 2004. When the consumer took vehicle to a dealership for repairs they told her they thought it was the filter in the fuel tank. There is NHTSA recall campaign 03v482000. The dealership told her that this vehicle is not included in the recall because it is a zts.
