The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated while idling, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to freestone Ford (1201 us-84, fairfield, TX 75840; (903) 608-9515) where it was diagnosed with a stuck canister purge valve. The contact was informed that the fuel tank, fuel pump, and fuel pressure sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated the failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 19v515000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.

2 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled and on several occasions failed to immediately restart. The fuel gauge also provided inaccurate information. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the fuel pump and the driver's and passenger's side front and rear door handles. The transmission was also rebuilt. The vehicle was taken to jordan Ford located at 13010 n. 3 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. While driving approximately 50 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated, the vehicle stalled and completely shut off. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was later towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed to open and caused the fuel tank to collapse. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for a complete diagnostic.
