I own a 2012 Ford Focus I brought it brand new and drove it off the lot. This car has been in the dealership 3 times for the transmission but it is still worse than driving a manual!!! I was notified months and months ago that there is a recall for the door latches. I have called several times trying to find out the latest info on the recall. Not to my surprise no one from Ford has bothered to call me back!!! I have my family in this car and I do not want any of them popping out!!! shame on Ford for selling these cars.
I was driving to an early morning meeting (5:30am) when the driver side door suddenly opened without warning. Once the door opened, it would no longer latch. The car door had to be manually held firmly closed for the duration of the trip. With every turn, the door would attempt to fly open.
I have a Ford Focus 2012 it has power lock on the doors. 3 doors lock with the remote just fine the door behind the drivers seat wont even close. It opens when I turn corners. This is a safety issues especially when I have small children, this car has had two recall fixes one with car rolling back even though it is an automatic and a transmission failure all due to electrical issues. I feel that the this is another one given that my passenger left rear door cant even be manually locked its only locked and unlocked electrically, there is nothing blocking the door to make it not close only the lock itself.
While towing this car behind my motorcoach four-tires down, per Ford manual and current RV safety practices, the Focus' passenger-side rear tire had a blow out. The tire came completely off of the rim. All four Focus tires were checked two days before and pressures were at spec. With no sign of leaks or apparent damage. The tires are michelin defender tires with about 14,500 miles on them and purchased in April of 2014. This blow out was a complete surprise, for the tires were in apparently very good condition, I did not run over any road debris and I was traveling at 55 mph. I have photos of the blown out tire and will provide them upon request. Thank you.
The horn has stopped working. It worked the first few weeks we had the car, and it no longer works currently. Fuses and relays were checked associated with horn function via owners manual and were not the source of the issue.
At first I reported issues with dealership regarding car moving backwards at time when I release brakes to go forward and my car is automatic. Also informed them after a red light I press the gas but car would not move immediately they said it was normal due to dual transmission. Car was not put in service. I had same incident and a month later I received an alert regarding a clutch recall and took it in for service today and explained to them I had same issue. Car was not put in service and they said it was normal cause car is automatic with a manual transmission and they stated to only bring it in if I hear metal grinding.
I purchased this Ford on sept 22, 12. . . It had 83 miles on it. . I am the only owner. Since then its been in the dealer for service over 10 times. I am on my (3)third clutch system to stop the shutter and loud noise's it makes. The last clutch was installed on sept 23, 14. And after a week its back to its same jerking/shutters and the noise is loud when you make turns. Its really nice when I try to get a buyer to test drive it. I pray it does not make a noise during the test drive. And, the front shock suspension made crunching noises at low speeds on un-even road surface. (like driving in and out of drive way and in parking lots). And, the way to fix the front suspension. . . . The Ford service tighten the front end down. And. Believe me you feel every impact of the bumps. Ford put out a paper that the service people gave us the 1st time we when it. The car needs to learn your driving patterns. And the most resent one is the car might drive like a manual/standard car- with jerks. . And make noise. This is the transmission. This would be nice to have this info. Handed to me before I purchased the auto and then I could make a good choice is this purchase. But the information was given to me when I had issues with the Ford. Any, buyer read other drivers comments. And, if you really like to buy the Ford Focus. Get the manual one. It has no. . . . Issues because you shifting manual transmission. And not have the issues with this auto clutch. And, the 2013 to 2014 have the same issues as the 2012. Ford just can't get the problems fixed or they don't want to correct the issues on the Focus. .
This has happened multiple times. When pulling out into traffic and trying to accelerate the vehicle will not accelerate above, I'd say 10 mph. It tends to happen when it is warmer out and the a/c is on. I have found that if the shifter is put into "sport mode" and I manually shift from first it won't do it. This is my gf's car and she will not use the "sport mode". This is very dangerous and will probably lead to an accident.
My transmission doesn't work right and never has, from the minute I drove it off the lot. It jerks, very hard at times, it shudders, and worst of all, it hesitates, so when you pull out at times you pray it kicks in before you end up getting hit and killed. I told my son after less than six months of owning this car that if I get killed because of it, I want him to sue Ford. They refuse to fix it because they don't stand behind their products! they don't care if consumers get hurt or killed, obviously. It looks good and rides good, but is a lemon because of the trans. They maintain that it only makes it miserable to drive, but they doubt you'll get killed, so refuse to help. These are some sort of transmissions that were converted from manual to automatic and not very well, at that. I've been to three dealers and they won't help, saying their hands are tied because corporate doesn't feel it's going to kill anyone. I thought I would buy a Ford, being from se mi. Talk about misguided loyalty! just because nobody's been killed yet doesn't mean it won't happen. It doesn't work, plain & simple. And if it's this poor now, what will happen in another year or two? I am beyond disgusted and completely frustrated with this uncaring company who sells you junk for top dollar and then refuses to help you with a problem that is totally and completely their fault!.
