The radio on the stock Focus is dangerous. The random static and loud noises coming from the radio is a safety hazard it can sound like an explosion. I got anxiety so bad I had to remove my stock radio harness from the back of the radio.
Radio randomly screeches at a very high frequency. Sounds like a gun shot at first then ear piercing screeching. Even does it when the car is off. Seems to multiple complaints regarding this on this particular vehicle. There is no warning when this occurs and it does not do it every day. Major safety hazard when you are driving down the road and this noise comes out of nowhere. When you shut the car off the noise continues. Even continues after removing the key and locking the doors.
Radio has went out and now lights have become dim on the dashboard. Radio is completely off but still hearing static noise through the speakers.
I reported about a vehicle safety complain/recall like 2-3mos from now but it's been a while since it's like no reply or actions coming from you because I just wanna know if for some reasons it's already available for my car for a recall or something in your system or I still have to wait for it? I have a car that I believe a latchkey/locked in the driver's seat is broke because whenever I'm driving from 30-50 mph it's keep on opening the door and esp. When turning that's why I put some duct tape on it just to prevent from opening by itself. I just hope you can do immediate action for this kind of matter. Thank you very much and hope to hear from you soon!.
My electrical system was fixed by local Ford dealer when I thought my transmission was the problem. They suppose to fix it but weeks after my dashboard went haywire and my radio stop working. I had to pay them close to 200. 00 for the repairs.
Audio control module(radio) it does not work. It has nothing but static noises coming out and the car is only 5 years old. This affects what is wrong and there is thousands of complaints. To get it fixed it will cost over $800 to fix it. If you look the radios have been bad in Focus, feista, fusion & taurus from 2008 to 2013. Ford knows about this problem and now the consumer has to pay for it. Since it is electrical it could effect other parts of the system. They told us to put an after market radio system in and that will still cost over $700. I am life time Ford buyer and now I fill duped from them.
On 10/15/15 my car stalled and completely pulled back , died down to almost a halt then kicked into gear again , like a pull and let go motion. Out of nowhere, this gave me a scare since I was driving and could have been rear ended because of this complete stall in the middle of the road on n. E. 163rd street north miami beach towards biscayne blvd. Engine light went on and a screen message showed up asking me to service transmission now! I have had to park car until I figure what to do? this car has turned out to be a problem for me, first with the back driver side door latch where door just flew open while driving, (that's a different claim I have placed with NHTSA). I can't afford to keep fixing these problems appearing to this Ford Focus. Radio also went dead with a super loud disrupting pop sound and loud static electrical noises which could not be controlled by lowering volume or turning off radio , this loud pop sound startled me also while driving on turnpike from davie towards north miami beach. Would like to get Ford motor to recognize that my Ford Focus 2012 is a lemon, if not the right term then it's a product of shoddy parts used to construct this car.
The car was operating fine up to the point after it was parked at a nearby strip mall. After returning to the car, the car would not start. The dash lights come on, radio works, etc but the starter acted like it was not even getting power. I thought the vehicle had a bad battery, after multiple attempts to jump start the car, it finally started. Once the vehicle was running, I put it in reverse and it would not move as if it was in neutral. I checked the dash indicator to see if it was in reverse and the shift indicator had nothing highlighted. I put it back in park then it highlighted the "p", put it back in reverse and again it acted as if it was in neutral. I rolled back a bit and put it in drive and it still acted as if it was in neutral. It would not engage the transmission. I thought it could be due to a low power battery which also had acid leaking so I replaced the battery with a new battery. The car wouldn't start again but everything else worked (I. E. Radio, dash, a/c blower, etc). I let it sit a day and tried again the following day and it started right off the bat. I put it in gear and it went into gear this time. A couple minutes later, an incline assist warning came up on the radio screen and the traction control and abs alerts were lighted on the dash. Suddenly, the car would not go into gear again. I turned the car off and started it back up which it then went back into gear with no problem. I did research online and found others were experiencing the same issue. Some even while driving, which makes me very uncomfortable to think of that happening on an interstate. I contacted my Ford dealer about the issue and they denied ever hearing anything about that type of issue. Extremely frustrating as this could be a potential safety hazard where someone could get killed and Ford is playing coy to cover themselves. Does Ford care about human life?.
I have recently had an ongoing problem where my dash lights turn off, head lights turn off, radio turn off, and a message comes on the dashboard saying "hill start assist unavailable". The radio turns back on after about 20 seconds. The dangerous part is when the speedometer shuts off and I cannot tell how fast I am going. I have contact the dealer about this problem, and taken the car in for service on this and they claim there is nothing wrong with the car. I already had a problem with my transmission where I had a full replacement and they are refusing to take any action regarding this problem. This vehicle is unsafe for anyone to drive until they figure this out. I dont know who else to contact regarding this issue since I have gone to Ford, the dealers, as well as independent shops and they all claim they cant find a problem.
Noticed after rain I had water in my car. After careful inspection by my son, he noticed the sunroof, was rotting out. I called Ford in claremont, nh and they said bring it in. Finally got it in and said nothing was wrong,it continued to have water in every time it rained. Finally after a rain storm, I had a hail ding and found over 2 inches of water in the 2 cup holders in the console. Called Ford, said bring it in,after I took pictures of the rotting seal, I took the car in, this time I have about 4500 miles on the car & it's 2 yrs old. They finally admited to a problem and would have to get an ok from the mfg to replace under warranty, I have bumper to bumper & extented. Took over 2 weeks for ok then they had to order the part. It has now been over 7 weeks and my car isn't fixed. More rain due tonight, lastnight I covered her with a tarp. Today, I dropped off the car after return. From vacation and my car sustained 3 feet of water inside from storms and my son tried in vain to protect my car, he covered it in plastic, cleaned out the water, ect. . . Called Ford, he had the car and my poa. . . They had the part before I left July 1, never called me,worried now how much electrical damage could be since water reached the radio, gear shift, speakers, interior electric window & controls, ect. . . My car just now has 7500 miles on it. Only because I let my son drive it while I was away for 2 weeks . My car was purchased new 3/24/2012 it's just now 27 months old! as you can see I don't drive far, I live in a small town and work in the same area,if I have to commute,it's in a company vehicle not mine.
Bought 11/9/2012 six months later rec'd emission recall, 1yr later would not start, dead in grocery parking, dealer said emission again, 2nd yr radio went out, 3rd yr catalylict converter need to be changed, 5/16/2017 was charged $1805. 72, said not emission but it was doing the same thing as before, dead had to be towed again to dealer, dealer said, "codes po420, po7a3 tested, found converter stopped up, shift actuator faulty, removed transmission replaced clutch actuatorsand clutch, removed & replaced manifold/coverter assembly. Now twice so far engine malfunction light, no power, goes 5 miles. . . . . . . When turned off in about 45-1 hr, starts. . . . All this while driving or parked in a parking lot.
Ever since I have owned this car since may 2012 it has shuddered when driving, stalled while driving, and shakes and does not increase speed when the accelerator is stepped on. The car now does not even start when it is turned on, despite the battery being good. Car was towed into dealership several times and they supposedly fixed it. Did several repairs to it but to this date it still shudders and stalls while driving. The latest repair they did was to fix the alternator. . . We will see. . . . Have come to the conclusion this model has several defects and would term it as a lemon. It barely has 60,000 miles on it and a car this new should not be having these issues as they are safety issues and I fear for me and my childrens lives and safety as this car does not function safely and stalls when we are driving! when I expressed my concerns to Ford over these issues they took no action except to tape record my complaints. . . They do not care about these safey issues. . . . The car has been in the dealership service center four times in the last four months. . . . The last repair bill cost me $650. . . . But I have no faith that they (Ford) have fixed the problems. . . . . I am fearful to drive this car but I am a single mother and cannot afford to trade the car in for another as the Ford sales person told me no bank would loan me money on another car as I owed too much on this lemon that Ford has sold me. . . . Ford was of no help and does not care. . . . I told them that it would take someone dying in a car crash from these defects in order for Ford to do something about these issues. . . . . These issues happen while the car is in motion and when it is sitting still. . . The car will not start and has to be towed into the repair shop. . .
Since I've owned the car, I've taken it back to the dealer more than twelve times. I bought it new and have problems with transmission slipping, jumping, lurching. I have been having these issues plus issues with the radio constantly resetting itself since the day I bought the car. The dealer claimed to me that the reason my car times backwards after coming to a stop was to save fuel, then there was a recall on the car to have the transmission reprogrammed to stop it. I had this done, but it still occurs with my car.
April 2011 -- issues began within a week of purchasing the vehicle. Complete electrical system shutdown (causing air/radio/sync system to be of no use). Brought vehicle in because I was scheduled to go on road trip to mass. (sync system shut down in route to mass. ). Soon thereafter, the jerking and shaking of the vehicle. Each time I called or brought the vehicle in, I was told "we cannot replicate the problem". Back and forth meeting with management at waldorf Ford dealership and phone calls with Ford in detroit. Continued issues with the jerking and vibrating of vehicle; continued complaints that the rpm needle would race up and down and the engine would revved because the engine was not getting into gear; may 2013 50k miles -- while in columbia, MD was still having the jerking and "shifting" issues that the dealership "could not" and I received a message on the vehicle that said transmission failure service immediately. I was in traffic and was almost rear ended on several occasions until I arrived at a friend's. Drove home hours later; transmission/powertrain system "fixed"; may 2014 74k miles -- jerking/vibrating/grinding sounds; engine light on and off (not flashing); vehicle not getting into gear from a dead stop and above 50 mph; autozone plugged into vehicle system and received following message/code p2862 "shift fork 'b' acuator circuit high" unable to access any information about the problem; an issue which Ford considers a "common failure" with this vehicle. Nothing like putting a driver and passengers at risk as well as causing accidents. Why are these vehicles still on the road with as many complaints that have been made??.
