Tl the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road where it idled, but did not engage in any gear. The vehicle was towed to dave sinclair Ford (7466 s lindbergh blvd, st louis, mo 63125) where it was determined that the clutch failed and needed replacement. The contact also mentioned that the clutch had to be replaced twelve times since the vehicle was purchased in 2015. The mechanic also mentioned that there was an oil leak in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
Transmission shudder then driving on highway low oil light came on randomly happened before took to shop and said the rear main seal went out which caused oil to leak into transmission and making the clutch slip.
Check engine light is constantly on and the engine leaks oil. The transmission does not change gears, shudders excessively and lacks power going uphill.
Timing cover leaks 1-quart of oil every 3,000 miles. This seems to be a known issue for all 2012-2014 Focus'. Ford will not acknowledge the defect.
On October 6, 2012 I purchased this new automobile. February 27, 2013, the auto was taken to a local dealer. There seemed to be a shuddering/dragging when the gas pedal was applied from a complete stop. An inspection was done and no problem was found (it was happening sporadically). After taking it in a few more times they still could not find a problem. August 4, 2014 I took car a dealer 110 miles away. After describing what was happening, the mechanic told me it was probably the clutch was not engaging. They repaired it and it seemed to be driving much better. By mid 2015, the car started shuddering again, so on November 11, 2015, since I knew what was the probable problem was I took the car to a local dealer and told them what the other dealer had done. They verified the problem and had the car for several days while parts were ordered and a new clutch was installed. They told me the car was leaking oil and they would order the necessary parts (new clutch). The car was brought in again on 12/8/15 and left several days. They again ordered parts and replaced defective ones with other parts. On 1/18/16 the car had to be towed to the dealer because all the oil had leaked out of the car. The car would not move and there was a computer message stating there was a problem with the transmission. Again the car was at the dealer for several days while parts were ordered and installed. On 2/16/16 the car again was brought into the dealer. This time extensive work was done on the car. Three engines were ordered and another clutch was installed. I received my car back the week of April 5 (6 weeks later). On 7/11/16, the car had to be towed to the dealer (50+ miles away) because the computer message read transmission hot stop car immediately. Again another clutch was put in with other parts due to the clutch breaking. My car was at the dealer for another 6 days.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while having the vehicle serviced, it was found that there was an oil leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the main seal, clutch pack and front seals had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
Vehicle has been leaking oil since it was purchased. (2) Ford dealerships have attempted repairs multiple times to stop engine oil leak(s), all of which have been unsuccessful. Was under vehicle on 5/12/13 and noticed there is still engine oil leaking from area around engine/transmission. Defect allowing engine to run without optimal amount of oil, leaking oil creates fuel for potential fire, used engine oil is known carcinogen, which is being deposited within engine compartment and allowed access to passenger cabin.
Vehicle has leaked engine oil since new, which was first discovered at 500mi. Engine oil contaminated clutch discs in automatic tranmission, which resulted in replacement of rear main engine seal, transmission clutches, etc. Which was supposed to resolve problem. Attempted repair took place at approx. 7500 mi. At 7800 mi, engine oil is still leaking oil, covering the bottom on the engine and pooling on the under-engine cover. Suspect new clutch discs also contaminated, which is causing jerky transmission action in drive.
Noted jerky movement of car during turns and immediately upon acceleration. Was minor at first, but appeared to increase in duration and intensity with additional mileage. Quality of shifting between gears very poor - surging and lurching noticed. Slight oil leak detected towards front end of engine at first oil change. Under engine cover also coated with engine oil residue. Took vehicle into Ford dealer for above complaint, was informed that engine had lost oil due to leak and had comtaminated its clutches (even though it is an automatic, it has 2 clutch discs) which caused erratic performance and required replacement and repair. Initial guess is defective rear main seal is at fault. Concern over damage to engine dismissed by shop supervisor. Personal concern was that volume of oil soaking into under engine cover could be ignited by engine and cause fire. Safety concern over defective transmission is that decreased performance would leave vehicle stranded. Complete loss of engine oil would result in car stopping, and could possibly cause accident, damage, fire, etc.
