I want to know why the people driving this year of Ford Focus have not been compensated by Ford for all of the "defects" associated with this vehicle? in 3 years time, I have replaced the battery, shocks, repaired oil leak, vapor management valve and replaced tires out of my own pocket. The recalls are unreal! I have had it in the shop for "fuel tank deformation recall", the "tcm clutch shutter" has been replaced 3 times. Not to mention the times I have taken it in for that to be fixed, only to be told it wasn't the problem when it was later verified that it was. And now I receive notice that the doors fly open while driving! I can't trade it in, because I am $3,000 upside down because the vehicle is not worth squat. I have lost employment because of this vehicle and it has significantly impacted my and my family's quality of life because of all of the problems it has caused. I have been losing gas for the past 2 years and the mechanic's can't find the problem. When I fill up, the miles to empty will show for example 274, when I drive 1 mile by the odometer, the miles to empty has indicated 6. That is a huge amount of money I have lost in the past 2 years. This is outrageous that Ford motor company has not been forced to compensate us unfortunate people that got "stuck" with a vehicle they knew had issues! I have all paperwork for everything I have stated above but there are over 100 pieces of paper. If you require this from me I can make copies and send to you but to upload everything is too much. Please help! I would like to get into a vehicle that is safe to drive for me as well as my family. I have been driving in fear since a week after I purchased this in Jan 2017!.
I purchased this Ford w 15000 miles on it. It now has 37000 miles. I feel like the car is a lemon. I have had several issues requiring me to go Ford dealership. First the gas information was incorrect. It said I had 26 miles to drive but ran out of gas. Then when I was driving on the freeway the car got stuck in between gears. I could not accelerate. Then the I tried to back out of a parking spot and the I could not put car into reverse. As a result car was fixed under warranty and recall. The items fixed were gas tank recall, engine mount, clutch, transmission, and (reservoir tank that was not covered under warranty). I picked up car and next day I drove to work with the same issues. Gears are not shifting. Take bake to dealer and fixed transmission module. Now the power steering does not work. I took it to Ford and they charged me 160$ to look at it. It will cost 1800$ to fix steering. This not covered under warranty. The dealer also said that the suspension needs to be replaced soon. He stated that suspension needs to be replace at 50000 miles my car only has 37000 miles. I have never replaced suspension in any other car. It makes no's sense why this car is falling apart with 37000 miles on it. It's a lemon and I want my money back. I bought this car for my daughter and it is not safe to drive!.
The problem occurs when accelerating from a stopped position or upon slowing down and then accelerating. The vehicle jerks and shakes like it is not getting adequate fuel. The amount of gas in the tank makes no difference. It feels like the vehicle wants to stall. I just purchased the vehicle from the original owner. I have not noticed this problem when going in reverse but only when in the drive position. The owner did not have a manual for the vehicle. I started driving the vehicle in may 2019. The original owner said he has not received any recalls on this vehicle.
Car stalled while driving down a major highway, had to have it towed. Ford has no current fix for the recall on the pcv valve. The only solution they gave me was to keep the fuel tank above half full ("until the vehicle is serviced for this concern customers are advised to maintain at least 1/2 tank of fuel") , however when the issue occurred for the second time I had over 3/4 of a tank. Ive called the customer service line and also talked to the dealership from where I bought the vehicle. Would not offer a rental car because the car is still deemed safe to drive ("an engine stall while driving without warning or without the ability to restart, can increase the risk of a crash. "). . . Although in the recall letter received says "may increase risk of crash". Also with this recall they say "causing the plastic fuel tank to deform, resulting in an inaccurate or erratic fuel gauge indication" how am I to keep more than a half a tank if the vehicle does not register the correct amount of fuel in the tank. The car is a 2014 and has 54000miles. .
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving 25 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact also noticed white smoke coming from the exhaust of the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the gasket on the fuel tank seized, which caused limited amount of fuel to enter the engine. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. The VIN was not available.
