1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2021

I have had so much trouble with this car I am upside down on it. Now all the electrical stuff seems to be shorting. I was driving and my fuel gauge kept going to zero then back up to half a tank. Then my check engine light came on. My horn doesn't work which is is huge safety concern for me those are just the new issues I also have had the tcm replaced twice and it never made a difference to the car.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2020

For some time now I have been trying to get 2 recalls fixed on my vehicle : 18v735 and 16v643. When I previously called the dealership they did not have the parts yet for the recalls. Just yesterday while driving with a passenger in the rear seat of the car the rear door came open by itself and now will not close. I called the dealership (loganville Ford in monroe georgia) who told me 1. That they could not get me in for the repair until next Wednesday (9/9) and 2. They would not provide a loaner vehicle. I explained first that how was I supposed to drive a vehicle for a week with a door that would not close? and second this is my only mode of transportation, this is not something I did to my vehicle , this is a safety defect by the manufacturer that needs to be addressed and Ford and / or the dealership needed to provide a loaner or a rental (at the manufacturers expense) until the safety repairs can be addressed and made. I further explained that safety recalls should take precedence over other repairs as it is a hazard and someone can get hurt. Both Ford and the dealership are both denying use of a loaner and I am yet to hear back about a rental at the manufacturers expense and I do not think it will come to fruition. I am going to reiterate, this is not something that I did to my vehicle, this is a serious safety recall that needs to be addressed. If the latches can be replaced on all 4 doors and the fuel tank deformation can all be repaired in a few hours I have no problem waiting on the vehicle, however we know that these repairs never take less than one day, all reports I read say it may take up to 4. That said, Ford needs to provide either a loaner or a rental at their expense, not mine. This is my last stop to get closure in this case, I have spoken to far too many people and am not getting anywhere, my next stop will be to the local and national news.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2020

Gas mileage was not correct and took to a mechanic where they found a warped fuel tank that was causing distance to empty to be inaccurate. Told me I needed a fuel tank and charcoal canister that would cost over $1000 . Called a Ford dealership to explain that it was having similar issues to a recall Ford Focuses are having with the fuel tank but told me there is no recall on my vehicle and reached out to Ford directly and told me the same thing and just to make sure I keep my receipts. This issue occurs in motion on highway and city. The Ford reference number for this recall is 18s32. Https://media. Ford. 4 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

My car stalls when driving without warning and shuts off after I fill the tank and when the tank is low. I have difficulty starting the vehicle when I fill up. It's a recall on this particular issue on the make and model of my car but Ford saying is VIN specific and my VIN is not included even though I'm having that problem. I paid for the Ford dealership to diagnose the problem. What's being recalled is the exact problem I am having but they won't fix it because my VIN isn't included.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2020

Car was taken to Ford dealership to have the recalls done for the transmission, fuel tank evap and door latch. Ford completed the recalls for the fuel system and door latch at this poticular time the transmission was not fixed. (did not pass Fords shutter test). At this time the check engine light was on because of the transmission, according to the Ford dealership. I picked the car up amd drove with my son the vehicle did not drive right because transmission issues. I contacted the dealership again after contacting Ford motor company about my concern with the drivability of the car. I made an appointment but had to wait approximately three weeks because they were replacing the floor in their shop. The check engine light remained on the entire time until the appointment. After dropping he car off and Ford diagnosing the problem, I received a call saying Ford motor is now covering the transmission and they will have to wait for parts to finish it. At this time they also informed me that the check engine light is now on because of the purge valve. I had barely driven the car since the last visit when the recalls were taken care of?? they stated that the purge valve would not be covered because the recall had been completed on the fuel tank. Reluctantly I told them to replace at my cost. The dealership called to say the vehicle was complete. I picked it up that evening and made it 7 miles away from the dealer and the check engine light came on once again. I called the dealer immediatley to let them know and they could not get me in right away. My son and I took it for a ride the following day and approximaty 40 miles the car lost power and could not go above 40mph on the interstate. I called to make another appointment when they diagnosed this time both catylitic convertors are bad and will cost $2100 to repair. What caused these to go bad this was not an issue until reca.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2020

We had a little over a quarter tank of fuel. We going shopping so we topped off the fuel tank this morning. After we drove approximately 80 miles, it started snowing heavily. I noticed something with the car. I had no acceleration like the engine died. Regained power for a few minutes until the engine died. I was lucky enough to park on the side of the road. Tried restarting the engine several times. After a half hour, I tried again only for the engine to sputter to and idle. It idled for 3 or 4 secondsand died again. After another half hour I tried again. I started and ran about ten minutes. I had the car towed home in fear of stalling out again.

7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2020

Driving on highway car stalled and check engine light came on. When I was able to get started again took it to nearest auto zone got error code p1450 fuel tank vacuum.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2019

Everytime I pump gas in my car and I turn it back on , it wants to die immediately. One time it took about 5 tries before it actually worked. I had just gotten the recall done for the fuel tank where it was reprogrammed so it can detect an issue with the canister purge valve. And now my engine hesitates to start.

9 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2019

Vehicle stalls and has hard starts, check engine light, an inaccurate or erratic fuel gauge, and loss of power. Recall was to reprogram the ecm but did not resolve issue. Ford denying to perform the other part of the recall to replace the cpv, gas tank, charcoal canister, and fuel delivery module.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

The vehicle was purchased on August 11, 2019 from ourisman Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of bowie. A few days after, I started noticing issues with acceleration, deceleration, and fuel gauge issues with the vehicle. I went back to the dealership and I was told that fixing the fuel tank recall and transmission warranty extension on the vehicle will fix the issues. I took off a day from work and took to ourisman Ford & Lincoln in alexandria, virginia. After several hours of waiting, I was told that I will have to drop it off another day because some part(s) will be ordered. About a week after, I dropped it off and it stayed for over 3 days. I was told that everything was okay. Perhaps, just about 1000 miles of driving in about 6 weeks after the repair, I almost had an accident due almost sudden stop on the highway on Friday, November 1, 2019. I was driving at about 60mph when the vehicle almost stopped with the alert transmission fault service now. I managed to pull off the road, turned of the engine and turned it on after about 20 minutes and the alert came up again. I drove at no more 20mph with the hazard lights on to my home. I scheduled appointment with darcars Ford in lanham MD to drop it off on Monday, November 4, 2019. I am complaining because I have owned this for less than 90 days but I have gone through a whole lot. Now it's becoming clear that the dealership knew, concealed and sold a severely useless vehicle that almost took my life. I am frustrated because the absence of a vehicle will obstruct my work, my son's school and all our medical appointments for the week. I sincerely need help. . .

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2019

Vehicle was recalled for NHTSA #18v735 canister purge valve/fuel tank deformation. When vehicle was taken to sheehy Ford of gaithersburg dealership (maryland) for clutch replacement in July, 2019, dealership also checked recalled cpv and deemed it was fine at that time. In early October, 2019, approximately two months later, cpv starts failing, remaining "stuck" open, and vehicle doesn't start after fueling. When it finally starts, vehicle's engine needs to be revved in order to keep from stalling. Ford and dealership say they will no longer pay for replacement of recalled cpv because "it was fine when they checked it" two months prior. Owners with recalled vehicles have until December 31, 2019 for reimbursement of prior cpv fix or covered replacement of failed, recalled part, however. While this has not yet caused an accident, it is a safety hazard, it is a recalled part on our vehicle, and Ford should still cover replacement of recalled parts, especially as we are within the given time frame of covered replacement. Also, if we had not had to bring vehicle in for clutch replacement just two months earlier, the recall would still be open on our vehicle.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2019

Car stalls at will, gas gauge & miles to empty always wrong, low fuel indicator light never comes on and has huge problem w/ acceleration. It often shakes violently when I hit gas pedal, also takes forever to get up to speed. If it's not shaking violently then it just stalls, literally dies, will not restart. Forget fuel gauge. Not only is it always wrong, it changes at will. I go up or down a hill, gauge & miles to empty changes. Low fuel indicator never lights up so who knows how much gas I have. Last two times it stalled on highway at 65mph. Engine just cut out, died & would not restart. Has been to dealership 3 times in 3 weeks for same issues. First incident, kindle Ford in cape may court house, NJ had it 9 days over labor day holiday. Finally advised repairs eligible under recall however waiting for parts, specifically fuel tank, which according to fedex was in transit. lucky for me he said, finally had loaner available. I'm walking to get loaner when suddenly tech yells over that my car is done! what? he just said tank was in transit! reluctantly took my car only to have it die again. Had it towed to kindle again and he said car started right up for him after he put gas in it. He implied I ran out of gas because gauge was pinned on empty. I had put gas in it that morning. Gauge indicates it was low but it was not pinned on empty (see photo). And if that was the case, warning light never came on (see photo). Now they are saying they can't fix it until they replicate problems for themselves. As if I was lying! car doesn't do it when they drive it so what do I do? I'm afraid to drive my own car but I have to go to work, etc. I just hope my son & I aren't killed when car unexpectedly stalls again while we are on the highway.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. On several occasions, while stopped at a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to respond. On another occasion, while attempting to exit from a parking lot the vehicle failed to start. Roadside assistance was contacted and was able to provide a jump start. The vehicle was taken to pacifico Ford (located at 6701 essington avenue, philadelphia, PA 19153, (877) 349-3923) where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The transmission control module and transmission clutch needed to also be repaired. The fuel tank and transmission control module were replaced; twice however, the failure recurred. The contact was also informed that it would cost $947 to replace the transmission clutch. The repair was not performed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2019

Takata gas tank recall: last year at 68,000 miles I took my car into dealership for gas tank recall. It was repaired and there were no more problems until about a week ago. My vehicle now has 82,000 miles on it. It started jerking and stalling a lot and I realized in the past week I had stopped to get gas every day on my way to work. I have put a total of $55 in to drive 300 miles. I started noticing the miles to empty dropping rapidly just driving less than 1 mile. I took it to the local Ford dealership who did not perform a diagnostics test and told me to come pick the vehicle up, the recall was already performed a year ago. So I called Ford motor company to complain about this peoblem and was told I could only have that problem fixed once! they told me they would open a case#cas22299572 and I would hear back in 1 business day. I am in the process of moving and I can't go to work for fear of the car "blowing up" especially with it being 100 degrees outside. Why is nothing being done with all the problems we as Ford Focus owners have been dealing with? our lives and our family's lives are at stake here. I have lot jobs, been worried sick, not to mention the time I have wasted taking my vehicle in for tge same thing time after time after time. This has been ingoing for 4 years with the transmission and gas tank problems. Why is Ford not offering some kind of compensation to those of us affected by a vehicle they knew had problems before they were put on the market to sell! I just don't understand and now in the process of moving expenses, I will have to get a rental car so ai don't blow up. Please help!.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2019

Tl-the contact owns a Ford Focus. The contact received NHTSA 18v735000 fuel system, gasoline. While, driving at slow speeds up hills the gears shifted roughly. The contact stated the fuel tank failed to take the recommended fuel. While driving with a half tank of fuel the guage dropped to empty. The fuel and engine warning indicator lights were illuminated. 16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

After 2 visit to Ford they stated that I needed to wait for a letter in order for them to replace parts they have. The car is running lean bank 1. When fueling, it stalls. It has stalled while drive on a few occasions. The fuel itself, goes quick, now that the problem has persisted. Getting under the car, fuel tank looks deformed as well and the code I get in the car is p0171. It's been close to year since it's started and I still has not received a letter.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2019

We purchased this car and it cut off on my daughter due to the gas tank not functioning properly. The car was repaired and we paid for it. Shortly after, the car's transmission stopped shifting properly, lose power, jerk, and shake while driving. It has become so unpredictable that we are unable to drive it. We have been to Ford for their secret repairs to the transmission and consistently been told by those that are to do the repair that they don't know anything about it.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

Takata: the problem with the car is if you put gas in the car the car will not start you have to keep turning and pressing on the gas pedal until it register that there is gas in the car. The read will say 98 miles until you need gas but if you don't put gas in before then the car will shut off and that reads at about a quarter tank of gas. Then there's times I get into the car to go and the steering column will lock to where you can't even turn the wheel. I looked it up and I see there's been problem with the steering column plus it lites up in the car steering wheel default I called the Ford but there saying there is no recall on any of the two things I'm talking about. It's not safe what if the wheel decides to lock while I am driving or the car shuts of because it read 98 miles before you need gas but that's not the case. I was driving out of my driveway and the wheel locked. With the gas was on the road and the car shut off luckily I was close to a gas station.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2019

I had the recall fixed on 5/17/2019 and my car continues to stall. I keep my tank above half or full and it continues to stall with even a full tank. My car was stalled on I 294 in illinois one of the busiest tollway near the chicago airport.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2019

Ford is refusing to perform recall 18v-735. The car stalls, runs out of gas, has erroneous mileage and dte readings. The local dealer was "obligated" to perform the recall service when I had it in for a different safety recall for faulty door latch. They didn't seem to know much about the recall on the fuel system. They didn't know about the gas tank. I had to tell them. They reprogrammed the pcm which did nothing. The recall on this car was closed. I called Ford. They said the recall was still open and take it to where we purchased the car new. That dealer says the recall is closed on that car. The car stalls, ran out of gas yesterday with my wife on a busy highway. This is a dangerous car. Called Ford again. They say the recall service was performed and the car is fine. Look at the photo. Does that look like it is fine? 39. 8 mpg? not a chance. The car lurches, stalls and runs out of gas between 120 and 60 miles left on the dte gauge. When you fill up you can tell their is 3 gallon at least in the tank. The gas tank is collapsed. The sending unit / fuel gauge is crushed. Yet Ford says the car is fine. It's fixed.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

My vehicle was part of recall NHTSA 18s32. My vehicle was serviced at tuscaloosa Ford in tuscaloosa, al in 2019. At the time I took the car in my gas fuel needle would drop to empty periodically. When I picked the car up, everything appeared repaired however when I was leaving the dealership the needle dropped to empty. I had not gotten out of the parking lot of the dealership. I returned to the service department and was told to just continue monitoring the problem and keep my tank half full. I called to check on replacement of the gas tank on 1/25/21, as I had run out of gas because life got in my way and I had failed to monitor close enough. I have now been told that the day my car was pick d up and I was told to continue monitoring, that it was determined I did not need a new gas tank. This is bull!!! I have monitored this problem for two years now and my vehicle will obviously be useless as a trade-in. I cannot be the only person that should have gotten a new tank under 18s32 and did not. Please review this complaint. I do not recall the date my vehicle was repaired under this recall so choose may1, 2019.

22 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

My car is part of the 18s32 (Ford) recall for the "fuel tank deformation". I had it serviced in March in bolivar, mo at bill grant Ford dealership. The reprogrammed the part as needed due to the mil being on with the code and stated that the recall has been fixed and Ford has closed the recall on my car. The car would not start after fueling and it could take anywhere between 5 minutes to upwards of 45 minutes for it to be able to start after fueling, which leaves me stranded at times. Their repair lasted about 2-3 weeks and it was back to doing it again so I am back at square 1 with this car. The car is back in the shop again after several weeks of waiting to get in the shop. It is currently at the jim trenary Ford dealship in moscow mills, mo where I reside. They are saying that the purge valve is failing due to the recall, as the recall states exactly. And due to the fact that the recall is closed on my car because it was repaired once, Ford is refusing to pay for it. It is not my obligation to pay for this repair as this is 100% Ford's fault and I will not provide payment for it. Ford issues the new recall (19s22) and they are saying that mine is not included in that recall but yet it needs to be as the issue is still happening. I have reached out to Ford and they state that they will not cooperate with paying for the repair on the vehicle, even though this is their recalled part. Or they need to expand the recall for a more broad spectrum of vehicles as this is unacceptable. I request the help of the NHTSA to assist me with having Ford fix what they broke. Thank you.

23 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2019

I bought a 2014 Ford Focus back in June of 2018. I had to have the transmission fixed a few days later due to an open recall. After that I had no issues. October 2018 I found out about the most recent recall with the cpv and such. Since then, my car has not run good. It jerks, acts like it doesn't want to go, and my fuel reading is almost always wrong. I have two young children and am scared to drive my car. When I call my local dealership they tell me there's is no remedy available yet and to just keep it at under half a tank of gas. Which is stupid since I can't get an accurate fuel reading! I can fill it completely full, drive one mile, then suddenly be on 3/4 tank. That's is ridiculous.

24 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving 60 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated, the fuel gauge fluctuated between full and empty, and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle ran out of fuel. The contact stated that the vehicle was pushed to a fuel station and filled with fuel; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to al packer's white marsh Ford (located at 9801 pulaski hwy, middle river, MD 21220, (443) 777-5000) where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank was deformed due to a stuck canister purge valve. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available to verify if the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

25 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2019

February 12 our way to work about 1/4 mile away. At the stop light waiting for the other car to turn. I let go of the break then car just stopped in the middle of the road while in driving. Lights are on. Power windows. Fuel tank deformation. I got it towed to the dealership. Saying I have to pay $800 something dollars for diagnostics and the other problem he is saying. Until now I still don't have a car. They did not give me a rental car or have the car towed. This defects puts my life and the other person in danger and now I have to pay for the company defects? I called 3 different mechanics about it. Doing my own research what is really going on. Take note: these people have not seen or touched my car. I just simply stated what happened. And I told them about the recall.

26 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2019

My 2014 Focus st stalls every time I come to a stop even with a full tank of gas due to a failing cpv which is part of the current Ford recall 18v735. However Ford has still not gotten a remedy and my car has been waiting almost almost 4 months now for this recall to be ready since it started.

27 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2018

Nhtsa contacted Ford back in may 2018 about the purge valve that sits on top of the fuel tank. Ford issued recall 18s32 back in December 2018. My car was supposed be fixed, according to the letter I received from Ford, in January 2019. Ford has provided no updates for this fix. When I contact Ford, I am told there is no time table for a fix. This is ridiculous. I am told by Ford to not drive under half a tank of gas and not trust the gas gauge. This needs to get fixed ASAP.

28 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2018

Takata recall. Engine stalls w/o notice, inside cab reeks of gas smell. Ford remedy is to keep gas tank 1/2 full. Doesn't work. Just filled up and still stalled while entering into the freeway. I did not use cheap fuel. Very dangerous and the remedy does not work. Took car to dealership twice now and they confirmed it's 1 of 10 Focus on the recall. In other words 10% of their Focus have this recall and symptoms. I called Ford corp and they gave me 2 options, 1)drive car with 1/2 tank or more 2) don't drive it at all. I need it for work #2 is not an option. Ford will not give a loaner car even I told them their remedy is not working and can cause bodily injury or even death.

29 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2018

Car has been in dealer at fred grande Ford for over a month for recalls on transmission and fuel tank no resolution recall 18 v dash 735 and transmission shutter dealership will not repair a vehicle and is trying to charge me a fee for a recall.

30 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2018

My car would stall when I was turning or driving, but at first I could turn it off and back on and it would run just fine. Then my car started showing me that I had a full tank of gas when I didn't. I found out that the issue is the gas tank, a $450 fix. These plastic gas tanks are collapsing on itself, my friend had a 2012 Focus and was told that the gas tank was shrinking and that it would keep shrinking until the gas tank was almost completely gone. This needs to be a recall!!!.

31 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

~tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving various speeds, the vehicle jerked and hesitated when attempting to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to mcnelly whaley motors (750 dolly parton pkwy, sevierville, TN) where it was diagnosed that the powertrain control module, cpv, carbon canister, and fuel tank were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact recently received a recall notice for NHTSA campaign number:(awaiting) for the failures described. The contact was informed that the parts needed to repair the vehicle were not available. The failure mileage was 90,000.

32 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2018

Vacuum seal on gas tank is faulty and gets air bubbles and the car cuts off at random. It cut off in the middle of an intersection yesterday and I almost got hit. I've reported this issue multiple times. Several other ones were recalled but not my VIN number but it's the exact same issue.

33 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

My 2014 Ford Focus has run hit it will say the transmission is overheating and it will cut itself off. I have had it cut off on me twice. I can have a full tank off gas and only run my car like 40 miles and it will say its empty. I have had were my car will not go into reverse or drive the only gear I have would be the sports mode I have literally had to push my car. When it cools down it would go into gear but as soon as the motor and transmission would get hot it wouldn't have any gears anymore. I have received a letter from Ford months ago that stated they would have my part by the end of march2019 here it is the end of june2019 and it still hasn't been fixed.

34 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/28/2018

At 61,100 miles (1,100 miles over the warranty), the fuel tank collapsed due to a manufacturer's flaw resulting in a failed fuel sending unit. Several attempts to get this resolved by Ford has rendered futile.

35 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/28/2018

Gas gauge showing 50 miles remain in the gas tank and car runs out of gas. This has happen three times twice on interstate going 70 mph during rush hour traffic.
