general problems of the 2014 Ford Focus - part 2

Transmission is overheated, burning smell, the car lost control, start zigzagging on the high way , and got into an accident, I was injured, and lost my job. The carmax dealership, refused to take care of a car, or even take it back, because of the safety issues. Then, second time, the transmission slips on acceleration at starts and on highways. It feels like it's the transmission is in neutral. For the third time, the car was jerking and going forward and backward , that the transmission would slip badly, even totally disengage. I was getting on a very busy road and accelerated and suddenly the car decelerated; the car behind me almost rear ended me, honked his horn, but there was nothing I could do. As you can see, the problem been reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center as a non-safe to drive. But carmax dealership ignoring the issues regardless.

My cars steering wheel default warning came up and my whole car froze. It was un drivable. There was absolutely no power steering I was I'm motion when this happened.

Power steering went completely out while driving. No accidents occurred but I almost drove off the road due to not being able to control steering wheel. Warning screen on dash notified me after power steering went out. . Took vehicle to my local Ford dealership for diagnosis; code u3000. Steering gear assembly was bad. Vehicle had 64,352 miles on it at the time.

I had just left my house driving on the road and the power steering stopped working. Luckily there were no other cars on the road . I was unable to turn the steering wheel so I stopped got out and my boyfriend was able to get the car turned around and drove it back the short distance to my home where it has been parked since that day. I wrote a letter to Ford asking for financial assistance in getting the car repaired are repurchase it from me they replied stating that they understood but could not offer any assistance.

While operating the vehicle I lost all power steering. This nearly caused an accident as I was driving in city traffic at the time. Upon taking it to a dealership I was informed it was a $1500 repair caused by the electrical system. My vehicle was purchased new and has less than 54,000 miles.

Electronic power steering assist fault. Vehicle requires a great effort to turn directions especially at a stand still.

Steering locked up.

I drove to work and everything that morning but when it was time for me to go home , out of nowhere when I turned my car on it said steering loss . I wasn't able to turn my wheel or anything , so I had to get it towed. Thank god I was not on the road and it locked up on me because there's no telling what would've happened.

While turning in a aldis parking lot the �steering assist fault� warning popped up on my dashboard and the power steering stopped making it extremely difficult to move the steering wheel. I stopped the car to turn it on/off again to see if it would reset. It did not and I had to drive home with no power steering.

Has anyone had any issues with power steering? I have a 2014 titanium and for the last month or so I've noticed my power steering taking a couple seconds longer to kick in when I start my car. Last week, an alert came on stating �power steering assist malfunction�. I took it into a Ford dealer to get looked at, and they said the code that came up for them showed a power steering module/power steering gear issue. The whole thing needs replaced. I was backing out of my driveway when the alert came on.

I started my car from a stationary position on a street and the console stated that the �power steering assist was disabled. Service required. � the steering wheel would not move left or right. I restarted the car and the steering wheel would move.

Power assist failure when maneuvering in parking lot. Had to turn off and restart. This is reoccurring.

Power steering assist, failure: engine failure to start: power brake assist, failure: transmission control module, failure: clutch failure and shift roughness:. Car unuseable for three years without because of parts inavailability: this type even happened mutiple times because of the transmission control module failure. The first sign of problems was shuddring and rough shifting beginning with about 30,000 miles on the vehicle multiple trips to the Ford dealerships resulted in unsatisfactory action by Ford motor company to repair the problem the result was safety problems like stalling and losing power steering and brake assist in traffic. It displayed multiple system failure warnings when it failed, steering asist, brake assist, abs, transmission position light was in park while driving. We tried to get repairs done but they just kicked it down the road till we fought with the car to get 160,000 miles out of it because there was no other choice and they denied there was a problem. It was completely unserviceable beginning on the shown date because the clutch control and transmission control module have been faulty, it has started a few times but will not shift properly and the clutch is faulty because of the control module being bad. We paid to have the control module replaced when it became available, but the vehicle is not servicable because the clutch and flywheel are damaged from the module being faulty. This should have been a safety recall as soon as the problem was discovered, but it was hidden and the owners of these vehicles have had to deal with it over the last 10 years. Any of these cars on the road are just as dangerous as this one it. Is still at the shop 4 months after they tried to patch it awaiting the determination of whether a clutch recall will fix it or not. These owners of these cars are driving time bombs if they are not able to react to the problems listed in traffic.

Transmission kept overheating; would not move when in reverse and gas amount inaccurate, car jerks when gas pedal is pressed and it stalls when it turns on.

The power steering on my car went out as I was driving, making it very difficult to make turns. I was on a city street and was able to pull of the road. I turned off the engine, made a phone calls. I started the engine again and headed home ( about 5 miles) there was no power steering. It was very difficult to maneuver. Two days later we took the car to our local mechanic. He told us that Ford has trouble with the steering system and that we needed to take it to a Ford dealer. We took it to liberty Ford in parma, ohio. Even though this is a safety issue and Ford is experiencing many cases of this problem, the dealership said Ford is not covering any of the cost.

My vehicle stalls while driving, and shakes when I press on the gas. I have to drive my car extremely slow or else it will shake. Sometimes it gives me a problem when trying to start my car.

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while making a right turn, there was an abnormal sound coming from the steering wheel. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving to his destination. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic and the contact was informed that unknown component on the steering gear needed to be placed. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 14v514000 (steering), however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.

Power steering has gotten stiffer in the last few days. I believed it may just be fluid but I came to find out the steering is electric once the car would absolutely not move after being parked. I am glad it did not go out while driving because the system had begun to fail as I was making a 15 minute commute. Definitely will never buy a Ford again. This is the second expensive fix I have had to endure and have only had this vehicle a little over 2 years.

The power steering just stops working from time to time. This happened while taking a curve the last time this happened. I have found that numerous people are having this issue with a number of their Fords that have the electronic sterring assist. This happened to me the first time on March 5 this year. (2020) I remember because it was my birthday.

I took my car into my mechanic for a horn problem and while there he told me that there is a problem with the power steering. I had issues with the steering locking up before but thought it was is a stuck gear or something till he told me it was because of the epas. He had mentioned it could lock up and I never said anything about it to him before. It's locked up a few times but the most recent one was not even a few months ago. I thought it was just cold and it had to warm up a bit as it was rather cold out. Looking more into this there was a whole lawsuit out of CA for this same issue with the same year and make of cars. They threw it out even though Ford said they knew about the problems. That was back in 2017 and yet the cars still have this issue and they have done nothing to fix it. Ford should have to fix this but they want me to pay over 2,000$ to have this fixed. This is a huge safety concern. I don't even let kids in my car any more because you never know what will happen. I have no other transportation and I have to worry constantly if it is going to lock up again. I have tried to get a hold of someone at Ford about this issue but they all say the same thing. ' there is no recall so there is nothing I can do. You have to take it to Ford to be fixed. ' I have had issues after issues with this car yet they know about all it's problems from the radio to the transmission and they still do nothing till people are getting hurt or worse.

Without ant kind of warning in went into the store for 10 min got into the car and the steering wheel was upside down I turned the car on and no power steering and and power assist code came up.

Sometimes when I'm backing up, the power steering quits and I can't turn the wheel, which can result in a crash. I have to turn the car off and back on again, one or more times before it will work. So, while I have no power steering, I'm in the middle of road, blocking traffic, and hoping I don't get hit from another vehicle. This is a serious issue. !.

Car received a steering assist default service required code. Left us with ni power steering. Car only has 50,000 miles on it. Warranty expired due to having car over 6 years. Ironically the warranty expired the same day the power steering went out. Did not have any issues like this until Ford mechanics worked on the transmission recall a week prior and then got this code the very next week. Car was stationary in a walmart parking lot. Code is continuous on car and we are now afraid to drive it.

The horn in the car sometimes work and sometimes doesnt, the trunk does not open unless from inside.

Driving the car and lost all control of steering without any notice while turing to cross busy street. Code says power steering fault.

My transmission stopped engaging as I was turning into my parking space at home after a 150-mile trip. I was in motion. The engine raced. I let off the gas pedal. I turned off the engine, thinking it might be a software glitch. When I tried to restart the engine, nothing happened. I had to push the car into the space with the transmission in neutral.

Today I was dropping my daughter off school after I dropped her off as I'm backing out the car would not turn left, the light came on and it said steering assist fault. . Repair required, I had to have my husband pick me up because I can't drive it home. . It just seems to me that Ford cars are not very reliable, I just had in issue with it last month. And a few months before that it was something else.

�power steering assist fault� came up a few weeks ago. I shut it off and turned it back on and it cleared. Went to start it up today and the fault was on as I pulled out of the garage. Stayed on stopping and starting 5 times. Also drove it and was very difficult to steer. This will be a safety issue for my 16 year old daughter who is supposed to drive this car.

52,000 miles - 2014 Ford Focus manual - while running errands, during car startup the error message "power assist malfunction - service required. " the power steering was deactivated and made very difficult to steer. Turned the car off and restarted after 5 min. The error message disappeared and power steering came back. From others with similar issues, this error could occur while driving and seems to be costly repair for a low mileage vehicle.

Impared steering/grinding noise when turning stationary or in motion, temporary loss of steering control, increasing risk of crash and poses an unreasonable risk to my safety. Please see NHTSA # 14v514000 Ford recall # 14s18 .

Steering wheel locks up after starting car and also while driving at low speeds.
