1 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a grinding sound coming from the front driver side wheel. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the front brake caliper was faulty. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (koons Ford, 6970 security blvd, baltimore, MD) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. Also, while operating the vehicle, the speed would suddenly reduce and the vehicle would fail to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. The failure mileage was 30,000.

2 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2014 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 02/02/2014

The 2014 Ford Focus s comes standard with traction control which uses both the abs module and the pcm torque control to control the vehicles motion relative to the intended course. This is done through two ways: 1) the abs module continuously monitors and compares the rotational speed of the drive wheels in relation to the non-driven wheels. At the same time, the abs module calculates how much engine torque reduction is required to eliminate the wheel slip. In snowy (+2-3?), icy or slippery surfaces where both front tires are equally in the same condition, the abs module modulates brake pressure to both brake caliper (s) to stop any wheel spin. 2) at the same time, the abs module sends a message to the pcm to reduce the engine torque to the requested level. With both brakes being applied and engine torque reduced to a near ?idle? state with the accelerator at ?full throttle?, the car immediately becomes stuck. Because the Ford Focus s does not have the ability to disable the traction control, my wife and kids have continuously been stranded in a car that will apply the brakes and reduce the engine rpm?s resulting in a car that will not move in extremely dangerous situations. As a consequence, the car has been required to be towed many times in below zero conditions because we are unable to disable the traction control. Death or severe injury is our concern because "by design", the car becomes disabled when snowy intersections and highways are encountered. Our disabled vehicle could result in any oncoming traffic to slam into our vehicle.

3 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2010 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/22/2011

2010 Ford Focus driver's front brake pad completely worn away prior to 18,000 miles, took in for warranty coverage and told if the calipur was bad it would be replaced per warranty. Ford tech stated caliper was sticking but I was over the 18,000 mile timeframe for maintenance issues. I contacted several independant brake companies and was told that there was no reason for the brakes to fail at that mileage and age. Ford wanted to charge almost $500 for repair. Took to another independant brake service place and was told that the caliper is sticking, had to replace driver's front brake pad as it was worn metal to metal and did damage to the rotor. No warning that brakes were going bad until the pad was completely worn away at which time I contacted Ford and took it in. Ford refused to recogize it was a defect.

10 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2001 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/20/2002

I own a 2001 Ford Focus zx3. I have put 17,100 miles on it since its purchase in may, 2001. At the last service, just before christmas of 2002, the Ford mechanic at price Ford in millington, TN. Stated that my front brakes & rotors would have to be replaced soon. There is no way on earth this amount of wear and tear can occur on a car with only 17,100 miles! I have owned 9 automobiles in my life and I have never heard of brakes wearing out in under 20,000 miles! this must be a defect, or engineering mistake with Ford's brakes! I initially thought the mechanic was high or something because there's no way the brakes can be worn out, but I have nearly wrecked 3 times since then due specifically to the brakes having no affect on the speed of the car. I'm looking at a minimum of $400 to get new rotors and pads and labor to install the new parts. This is crazy! you need to investigate this to see why me and many others are experiencing these issues!.

11 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/29/2000

Engine just stalls every 3 months while driving. Have had the same problem happen 4 times! the last time I wasnt under warranty and it cost me 500+. . . They replaced many things but it still continues. Also after only 23000 miles my left caliper slipped causing extreme wear and tear on the brakes and rotors. Cost 300 to fix that.
