1 Brake Drum problem of the 2003 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/29/2004

I have a 2003 Ford Focus zx5. Bought it brand new in 1/2004. Rear brakes have been squealing for 2 months now. I've taken it to a Ford dealer and a brake shop and both have said the brakes are fine. Now there is a definite spongy feel in the pedal and a loud creaking noise from the back, and finally yesterday when I depressed the pedal to stop, the brakes did not work at all for about 5 seconds. I nearly struck a pedestrian crossing in front of me.

2 Brake Drum problem of the 2000 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 10/01/2004

Rear brakes had an extreme noise coming from them. Upon examination I found it to be a loosing of the rear wheel bearing nuts, causing the drum to rub the brake pads. I tightened the nuts as until I replace the brakes.

3 Brake Drum problem of the 2004 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 02/28/2004

I bought the car with 0 miles on it. I heard loud squeaky noise in the brakes at any speed when slowing down. The first week, I took the car back to Ford. Ford sent me home telling me it was dust in the drums. They said it should wear off in a while. 1 month later and the noise still was present not better or worse. I took it in again, they had the nerve to tell me to just wait longer. 3 months and the noise continued. I then took it back and they put new brake pads. I had the car for 3 months and the brake pad were bad??? they put new brake pads on, and again the noise remained. Will they ever fix this problem??? it is now 1 year after and the noise remains. Don't buy a Focus, even brand new and 100,000 mile warranty and still have problems no one will fix.

Brakes make noise when brakes are apply. Afreind of my has the same kind of car took it back to his dealer medford Ford in medford NJ. They told him there was a silent recall on the brake system ,and on the rear spindels that hold the back brake drums on. The nut that holds brake drum on can back off an drums an wheel assembly can fall off. His car was repair& he told me about the problem, and said all dealers know about this silent recall I have been to two other dealers near my home an neither one knows about the problem they said if it not on recall they will not fix.
