Hatchback/liftgate Hinge Problems of Ford Focus

2005 Ford Focus wagon has a faulty lift gate. Consumer states that the lift gate had silently fallen and she was hit in the face by the lift gate.

While driving 40 mph driver noticed that the rear hatch door opened on its own. There was no indication that the rear hatch door was opened. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection.

Caller indicated hatchback wife's vehicle keptopening. There was a recall, but the manufacturer claimed this vehicle was not included because it was not purchased in a northern state. Dealer had not been contacted yet.

The hatchback door is difficult to close, once closed it is still not secure. Consumer has had to force the door so many times that it was dented in several places from the force.
