1 Power Door Locks Not Working problem of the 2012 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/06/2016

Tl the contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that there had been no failures until the vehicle was serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages) and weeks after the dealer champion Ford Lincoln, 140 southtown blvd, owensboro, ky 42303, (270) 684-1441 serviced the recall campaign, there was an abnormal noise heard in the area of the instrument panel and the radio. In addition, the electronic function of the doors locking failed to function and the contact was uncertain if the doors may secure due to the multiple failures. The contact felt that the recall repair remedy failed to provide a permanent fix. The vehicle was not repaired yet and the dealership indicated that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed which was unacceptable to the contact. The vehicle was also included in 18v735000 (fuel system, gasoline) but the remedy and part was not available yet, field service action number: 14m01 transmission clutch shudder / transmission input shaft seal warranty extension and 14m02 transmission control module extended warranty coverage. The contact called to verify if those campaigns had been serviced by the dealer with the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and the contact was waiting to determine a remedy to repair the multiple failures. The approximate failure mileage was not available. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Dyd.

2 Power Door Locks Not Working problem of the 2006 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 07/02/2014

The truck latch on my 2006 Ford Focus zxw would not actuate electrically when the button on the fob or on the dash was pressed due to broken wire in a wiring harness running from the interior to the rear hatch door. It would also blow fuse #63 on the back of the interior fuse panel which made replacement difficult (the fuse is really on the back of the fuse box, the manual recommends that only the dealer service or replace this fuse making this issue difficult or impossible to partially resolve immediately). Until this fuse could be replaced, my interior door locks could not be actuated electrically (power locks or fob) which was a safety concern as any children in the back seat could not be easily reached in the event of an emergency. One would need to manually unlock any and all doors from the inside of the vehicle. The culprit was wiring harness that had wires with damage to the insulation and two broken wires. I would be happy to send any and all pictures of the defects. The damage occurs when the harness bends as the rear hatch is shut due to poor design that did not incorporate a stain relief to either end of the harness where maximum bending stresses would occur. The wires may have also shorted affecting the brake light operation, marker lamp operation, and numerous other functions as there are an estimated ten wires that run in parallel in this harness and all wire except two had multiple insulation defects that potentially resulting in shorts. This is a definite safety issue and all harnesses that have the potential for this type of failure should be replaced or repaired immediately.

3 Power Door Locks Not Working problem of the 2005 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 01/06/2013

The rear driver side door lock will not lock. The child safety lock doesn't even make it work. All other doors work with the remote entry key fob and alarm activates but the rear passenger door remains unlocked. I can not even lock it manually. I fear my grandchildren will be able to simply open the door and exit the car and am very concerned for their safety not to mention the possiblity of someone entering the car to do harm or vandelize the vehicle.

4 Power Door Locks Not Working problem of the 2007 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 12/18/2012

My 2007 Ford Focus rear passanger door lock will not lock. This is a real safety issue because I have children who can pull on the door and open it while I am driving down the road. I can not even "child lock" it. In addition, on Tuesday night I was robbed of all my christmas presents that were in the trunk of my car because the door will not lock and someone accessed my car through the rear door and popped the trunk. They also stole my usps rain gear and important paperwork I had in my car ( I am a union representative). There is several complaints about this issue and we should not wait until a child dies from falling out on the freeway to recall these vehicles.

5 Power Door Locks Not Working problem of the 2010 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

First automatic power door lock problem: the passenger side door lock would not respond to fob, interior door lock opener or manual intervention. Repair shop checked fuse, checked good. Scheduled appointment for repair. Started working again after I left the Ford dealership. Second automatic power door lock problem: 21649 miles. The passenger side rear door lock would not respond to fob, interior door lock opener or manual intervention. Shop notes: customer states pass rear door will not unlock, service writer verified. Happens when hot out, works when cool in the morning. Failed door latch right rear, test verified pinpoint test lead to latch replaced right rear door lock latch assemble 901. Third power door lock failure. Mileage 49826, the driver side rear door lock would not respond to fob, interior door lock opener or manual intervention. 4/29/2013 returned to dealership, service writer verified, scheduled service appointment for 5/1/2013. This is a safety issue. If drivers door lock fails and driver needs emergency exit of vehicle, driver could not exit. We also own a 2010 Ford fusion with approximately same mileage and had no problems with it. Ford could re-engineer the 2010 Focus power door locks like the ones they engineered for the 2010 fusion and replace all locks upon failure of first lock. I found 14 other reports of failures of power locks on the 2010 Ford Focus. I didn't report this until my third failure. I would thus assume for every reported failure, there are over 100 not reported, maybe more. This is a safety issue and needs additional action by the Ford motor company.

6 Power Door Locks Not Working problem of the 2010 Ford Focus

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

I bought this car in 2010. A few months later my children said they couldn't get out of the car even though I had opened my door. I tried to manualy unlock this door and was unable. I made an appointment to get it fixed but on arrival at Ford service it had started working again. When it happened again I made the same appointment this time they saw the problem for themselves. They could not diagnose the problem but knew it was a safety issue and therefore changed the door actuator, latch and linkage. It worked for a while and then failed again along with two other doors. Ford service department was stumped. They then change all the door actuators, latches and linkage still not knowing what happened. Some more time passed and then an all door lock failure happed. Same thing all locks stuck in lock position unable to unlock with keypad, interior doors switch or manually. With there hand in the air unable to find out what was wrong they put all new updated actuators, latches and linkage in all doors . This worked for a much longer period of time and just recently jammed in lock position again . I brought it to my salesman and he wrote a report and we got another appointment to get it fixed again . The day before I brought it in it started working again and like they always tell me ' it has to me malfunctioning in front of us ". This has been an on going problem since I bought this car . I have had serious issues regarding people not being able to get out in a medical condition situation and my locks were stuck . Now my warranty is up in a few months and they have told me I will have to pay for parts and labor as soon as that happens again . I tried to get a warranty extension just on the locks and just until they figure out this ongoing safety issue but Ford motor company wouldn't here of it even mocking my safety concerns on the phone . Ford knows there is more to this problem!!.
