The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact had to apply force to the accelerator pedal to increase the speed. The dealer was notified of the failure and indicated that the vehicle had a salvaged title. The dealer refused to provide the recall repair and advised the vehicle owner to contact the manufacturer for a recommendation on a repair solution. A repair appointment was not scheduled with the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was contacted to determine if the vehicle would receive the repair for NHTSA campaign number: 16v643000 (latches/locks/linkages). The approximate failure mileage was 78,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While driving 65 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle accelerated in excess. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the shifting gear and the linkage in the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred and multiple warnings were displayed across the message board. In addition, the contact stated that the gear shifter was shifted in park and the reverse position and failed to shift out of those positions. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 6,000.

Driving with cruise control set at 60 mph when car accelerated gaining speeds over 75. I pulled over, shut down engine, lifted hood and saw accelerator linkage was stuck. I cleared linkage, started engine and car ran normally. This happened 3 more times on later dates with cruise control engaged. Car starts accelerating until I stop vehicle, shut off engine, and free up linkage/metal.

Possible throttle linkage sticking. I have owned a 2000 model year Ford Focus, for approximately 3 yrs. In the past 6 months I have had at least 3 occurrences where the vehicle's acceleration remains after releasing the accelerator completely, I have recurred to place the vehicle in neutral and pump the pedal, this has solved it so far, but I will have the vehicle inspected soon.

My daughter was driving on the highway. Traffic was trying to merge, and she was blocked in on the left. She accelerated a little to get ahead of the merging traffic. At that time the throttle stuck wide open and would not release. She stated that when she tried to stop the car with the brakes, it would not slow down even though she was pushing as hard as she could on the brake pedal. She placed the gear shift in neutral and was able to stop the car. She came to a stop at the side of the road and shut the car off. The rpms were at 7000 before she shut the engine off. Upon restart, the engine continued to race to 7000 rpm. She was able to get the throttle un-stuck by pushing the pedal to the floor and releasing. She drove the car to a sears auto center, where the technician found the throttle linkage malfunctioning. He could not fix the problem, and could not guarantee that it would not happen again. We elected to leave the car there, and have it towed to a Ford dealership in the morning. It was a very scary and potentially dangerous event.
Throttle cable stuck wide open, had to use "park" to stop the vehicle. Found recall only on 2000 Ford Focus models with specific VIN numbers. Called Ford, said did not apply, however it happened to me. Dealer does not have parts on hand, no guarantee of safety in the future. Ford motor company does not truely listen to complaints.
When braking engine revs high and vehicle accelerates forward suddenly and unexpectedly. A recall has been issued on the vehicle's make/model; however this vehicle was not included due to VIN. Manufacturer has been notified. Please provide additional information.
Consumer was traveling 5mph when rear driver's side well came off. Dealer has been contacted for problem, and informed consumer that a recall 00v302000 was issued for this problem and the VIN number applied to recall but refused to remedy vehicle free of charge.
While driving stepped on the accelerator pedal, but vehicle did not speed up. Then, took vehicle to dealer. Dealer discovered accelerator cable was broken. Please provide more information.
Please check under the hood at the accelerator cable and the way it fastens to the carburator. While reoving your foot off pedal too fast, it will cause accelerator cable to come off, accelerating your car at high speed and making it impossible for you to stop. This happened to us yesterday and many people could have been killed. After inspecting the part myself, I was shocked to see that (a) it was plastic and (b) there is nothing holding that cable doen other than a c-hook. This is very dangerous!!!!!!!!! please have this part inspected immediately, have it recalled and get this car safe. I will no longer put me or my family in that car until the accelerator cable "death trap" is fixed. Thank you for your time and help!.
Aic valve replaced 2 times car same: throttle cable replaced 1 intermttent problems, still. They told me "this is the way it is" its dangerous?.
Throttle cable appears to be too long - cable has kinked and causes car to hesitate acceleration. When the car does accelerate it is sudden and could be dangerous under certain driving conditions (heavy traffic, ice on roadway). It appears my car is not the only car in for the exact same problem - the part had to be special ordered.
Recall 00v302000/ spped control cable. While driving has been having problem with speed control. Vehicle had to be taken to dealer for repairs. Five other recalls had been made on this vehicle.
Vehicle experienced erratic surging which caused sudden acceleration/ jumping out of gear, and taking off intermittently. This has occurred on five occasions, and dealer was unable to locate the cause. Please provide further details.
While driving about 45 mph vehicle suddenly accelerated up to 80 mph. Consumer tried to reduce speed by stepping on the brakes and using the emergency brake in order to stop on the side of road. After stopped, steam was coming out of vehicle and engine revved for 45 seconds.
