7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2018

2006 Ford Fusion: when driving after the car gets warm up it is starts slipping and shifting someone harshly like it just got kicked. I was on the freeway and couldn't speed up almost got rear ended. I see others have the same issue after doing a search I found different answer as what could be wrong. Found out what the issue is with the aisin transmissions slipping which were used in the 2006 Fusion. It is due to valve bore wear in the main control. If the trans fluid isnt burnt (meaning there is internal trans clutch damage) then you are looking at $800-$1000 to replace the main control. If the clutches are burnt the whole trans will have to be replaced cost??? something like $4000-$5000. The problem is that when Ford bought the aisin trans, Ford did not buy the service rights. So there are no service parts available or training avail on how to service this trans. The issue with the main control has been so common that aisin has agreed to supply Ford with service main controls. There has been a technical service bulletin out there. See below TSB bulletin date: Feb 2007 various driveability/transmission symptoms - pcm/tcm calibration updates 3. 0l - aisin f21 auto trans. ( NHTSA item number - 10021277 ) as one person posted. Ford needs to make this right!!! very unsafe*** our car is parked in the garage we can not afford to fix it or sell it with a bad transmission . Ammco said needs new transmission.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2018

Thermostat sticks open (cold) while driving. Sudden jumps to normal temperature range followed by drop to cold again. Vehicle has hard time starting when temperature gauge is on cold mark after running for any period of time. Thermostat has been replaced with no improvement. Throttle sticks on acceleration causing engine to bog down and almost choke out followed by sudden burst of acceleration that could lead to accident.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

While driving the car on the highway at typical highway speeds (60mph-70mph) the wrench indicator light comes on in the dashboard and the car looses the ability to accelerate any faster than about 10 miles an hour. We pull over, turn the car off and start it back up again and it appears to run fine. This can happen randomly one day and then not happen again for a few weeks or even a month or two then it does it again. Based on my research comparing other drivers posting about the same problem I believe this problem is due to a defective throttle body or what is sometimes called the etb = electronic throttle body. The problem is the result of the computer and sensors sending bad signals to the throttle body mechanism which then affects the air/gas mixture and adversely affects acceleration, this is dangerous and a safety issue. There was a recall on defective throttle bodies for Ford Fusions but it only included 2009 models and later models, but it did not include 2006 models. I have read of other people in earlier model cars from as early as 2005 posting on forums that they had the same issue, so I believe this wasn't only a problem on 2009's and later. Ford issues an extended warranty on the Fusion of ten years or 150,000 miles. I don't know the name of the specific recall other than a reference to consumer satisfaction program 13n03. The problem sometimes is referred as the "limp home" mode. In conclusion, I would like our 2006 Ford Fusion to be included or qualified in the recall so I can fix this problem or at least get reimbursed once I get it fixed since it is a defect with the car.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Interior front door latches broke around the 100,000 mileage. All four electric window regulators/motor have failed from the 80,000-110,000 mileage period. Each of the regulators plastic rollers where the cable goes around were broken. Two of the automatic door locks quit working as well. All motor mounts have been replaced at least once and 2 have been replaced twice each. 4-cylinder. I have seen 100's of complaints online about the motor mounts and many for the interior latches and window regulators. I have spent over a thousand dollars on the motor mount issues.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2015

After slowing down just before the stop sign, my car started to sputter and when I tries to accelerate after the intersection it stops accelerating. I had to limp along to get home. Luckily, I was just about 1. 5 miles from home. I have done for this car all scheduled maintenance and never missed the recommended periodical oil changes. I drive less than 5000 miles a year with this car an it has less 59,000 miles on it. This must be due to a defective part from the factory and I should not pay for it. I have left it parked on my driveway until I hear from you and by way of your good offices hopefully from Ford. Thank you for kind assistance. Girma.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2015

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2015

I started having issues with my car in 2008. My car then would not go any faster than 50 mph would not accelerate on the freeway on ramp , and could not go up hills. So I reparied it or so I though. Now bring me to last year 2014 I still experience all that pull when traveling but now my speedometer was going crazy and would just go up to 100 mph as I was sitting at a stop light/sign. Fast forward to August 2014 when I had the speed sensor changed. . . And now I'm in March 2015 and again my car pulls, me speedometer goes crazy. Well as I was driving with my two children in the car ages 5 years, and 7montj old. I was rear ended while pulling up to a stop sign!!! luckily it was just enough to scare my daughter and I was just a bit sore the whole day but things could have been worse! after reading up on the sure my issue I am having I just about had enough! Ford needs to take responsibility for faulty transmissions and faulty vehicles!!!.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2014

Local dealer closed dropped car off for look over. Dealer confirmed Monday that throttle body is stuck but state that this vehicle is not a part of current throttle body recall. . . Im writing this here so if Ford should decide to cover this at a future time I'll be able to file for a refund.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2013

My Ford Fusion v6 sel has been slipping since 50,000 miles. I have had 2 minor transmission changes within the past 3 years. Today me and my kids were driving about 20-35 mph around town when the transmission slipped. The car would not respond to accelerating on the gas pedal. I tried placing the car into low gear, reverse with nothing happening. This was on a busy intersection, the car final after forcing me and my kids to jerk forward started to work again. Each time I stopped at a stop light the car took 1-2 minutes to rise above 20 mph. I finally made it to my house which has a small slant on the drive way and the car struggled just to make it in the garage. This was the most embarrassing day of my life!!!! the car clearly is out of warranty and each time I look up TSB's I see more and more 2006-11 Ford Fusion postings. Being a Ford fan my whole life I must say if nothing is done with this complaint I will no longer support Ford and will encourage other not to as well. The next steps are to go to the Ford dealership and do a diagnostic. I may also try a major transmission change, my fear would be to do a transmission change with zero confidence that this will fix the problem!!! Ford must keep quality and safety in mind with every car they sell especially a 1st generation model.

24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2013

Driving on interstate 5 evening commute, going up a hill when the engine lost power, reaching a maximum speed of 20mph with the accelerator pedal pressed down fully. The esc light and a "wrench" light both illuminated. Was able to safely exit the interstate and turned the car off. After a few minutes I restarted with the aforementioned lights remaining off. Vehicle ran fine. Took it to the Ford dealer the next day and was told the throttle body would have to be replaced, which I rejected at the time. The vehicle ran fine until 1 day past a year from the first incident (June 26, 2014). The same thing happened twice, once at 60mph and again at 40mph. It occurred again on June 27, 2014, however this time from a stop. I began to accelerate from the stop sign and barely made it across the intersection. Each occurrence I turned the engine off and restarted, the vehicle ran fine. I did a web search on the issue and found numerous other Ford owners are experiencing the same thing with model years 2005, 2006 and 2007.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2013

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. There was also a vibration in the steering wheel. The failure occurred five times. The vehicle was currently being diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Error code for engine temperature being too low. The cause is believed to be a thermostat stuck open. The fix is a replacement of the thermostat and Ford must be aware of this problem as they have replaced the oem thermostat with a higher temperature rated one. By looking at numerous automobile forums on the internet this is a very common problem.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/12/2012

The engine thru a rod rite after warranty was expired . I always had the oil changed regular from a certified mechanic and always had regular service as directed . I had to replace motor costing me $ 5000. 00 dollars , I reported it to dealership where I had purchased another new car from . They said no recall was in affect so they did nothing . I worked for Ford and have always been a Ford owner , but since I could never get my money back out of this vehicle with all I have invested in it I will probably never buy a Ford again !!!! not to mention I had to replace a computer part under the dash that could only be done by dealership , costing me $500. 00 more . Now my transmission is shifting hard in 3rd gear . What a piece of shit !!!!!!!.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2012

Cruise control started malfunctioning. I have five controls for my cruise control. The resume cruise just stopped working. The +set button which is suppose to set cruise or speed it up now resumes cruise. The - set now sets the cruise and speeds the car up and not the on and off are only working sometimes. This is a real safety issue because myself of someone else could his the - set button trying to slow our vehicle down and instead of slowing down the car speeds up.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2012

Car has multiple issues with hard revs of the transmission. It has caused me to have to slow because it feels like the entire car shifts so hard that it is gonna break apart. Car now does not even rev. Reviewed hundreds of complaints online about same problem with the 2006 Ford Fusion and nothing is being done. It is horrible! something needs to be done. There is no recall and even after replacing parts on the transmission or the entire transmission as hundreds have said they did, the problem still occurs shortly there after!.

30 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2012

The car went into "limp" mode for no reason. Vehicle would not go faster then 20mph. This cold of caused an accident. Took to local shop and was told a sensor in the electronic throttle body was bad and therefore could not read throttle position accurately, sending the car into "limp" mode. New throttle body cost $600. If this would of happened at highway speeds this would of been a serious safety issue due to not being able to control vehicle speed without any notice.

31 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2012

Transmission problems. Daughter was driving car and backing up from drive it popped and would not move in drive. It would reverse and drive slow at lower gear, but not drive in d. Mechanic said gears are fine and not transmission , but confirmed may be sensor in transmission. From reading similar comlaints, it is widespread problem and a potential road hazard. Recalls have been done on same make and model, but from 2007 - current. Why isnt the 2006 covered? the auto mechanic has brought vehicle to 3 diff auto shops and problem is that it is a Mazda engine with german parts in a Ford car and not familiar with parts. Ford dealer was contacted and also Ford product complaint line. All they would say was there are no recalls for 2006 Ford Fusions. Why??? the auto shops insist on replacing entire transmission to warranty their work and charge $2500+ when all is needed is a part for less $.

32 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2011

My transmission is slipping a lot. I will be accelerating my speed and all of the sudden my car acts like it is in neutral. I have read a lot of complaints from other Ford Fusion owners stating the same problem. This needs to be recalled. This is very unsafe. Driving on the highway and then all of the sudden your transmission slips and there are cars at fast speeds traveling next to you and behind you is not safe at all.

33 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

The transmission slips and jerks while driving. I bought the car brand new and have been keeping up with maintenance religiously.

34 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2010

2006 Ford Fusion se with 2. 3l I-4 engine. 75,000 miles. Two bolts on left engine mount fractured causing engine to fall into engine bay. Engine fell on and is being supported by the drive shaft which is touching the frame of the vehicle. This caused the cv boot to rupture. Car is unsafe to drive with such a failure. Fortunately this happened in my driveway. Had it happened only 10 minutes before, it would have occurred on I-20 in downtown atlanta at rush hour and would have likely caused an accident. Called Ford customer service and they took a record of the incident but were not helpful beyond that. I need a new engine mount, new cv boot, and everything under the engine to be realigned.
