1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v001000 (air bags); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The air bag and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle later failed to be started. The vehicle was towed to the residence by aaa, who attempted to jumpstart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. Aaa related the failure to the transmission; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that the air bag parts were on backorder. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2021

The car never gave any indication of a problem. No check engine light, smoking, not even oil usage for that matter. I checked the oil every time I got gas because I bought it 3 weeks prior. Then was driving to interstate to work when I hear jt start clicking immediately got a oil light then dies and was stuck on interstate cars zoomomg by at 80 if I were in the center lane I would be dead.

3 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2019

My issue is what many people have already complained about - the shifting is extremely rough, to the point it's now undrivable and unsafe. The 'wrench' light and check engine light have just come on, although the slipping of gears has gone on for quite a while. This seems to be a very common issue. Most people can't afford to spend $3-4k to get the transmission rebuilt.

4 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2018

While driving on a highway the wrench light illuminated and I experienced an unexpected, sudden loss of engine power and acceleration. The vehicle rapidly decreased in speed from highway speeds to barely being able to maintain speeds of 20mph. Engine power and vehicle speed are severely and rapidly reduced without warning while full function of the power steering, power braking, lighting, and climate control systems are not effected. No sign of the issue the next day, once the car is turned off and back on. This seems to be a widespread and documented problem with the electronic throttle body including an investigation and two separate "customer satisfaction programs" to repair model years 2009-2013. Apparently the same throttle body part is interchangeable from years 206-2009 so likely it could be widespread in these model years. This is incredibly dangerous and needs to be a full recall.

5 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

My 2007 Ford Fusion was purchased in 2011 and was financed, and I paid it off in December 2017. It since then only it has a 144,00 miles. It was purchased with lower mileage, of an estimation of 40,000 to 50,000 miles on it at final sale meaning it was a 2007 car, purchased in 2011, so that's a problem when before it had been paid off, and major problems of many. I would like a refund of a lesser equal to or equal value to my purchased car price from manufacture or dealership. The two recalls issued that I have not taken care of yet, and other problems with cheap made inside door handles broke easily, being hard plastic/metal, this makes getting out of my vehicle a major safety issues along with the other issues of airbags and brakes and other safety issues.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

The shifting knob and the link rod to the transmission came out preventing the shift lever from changing the transmission gears as desired. I found if I push the unit back in the hole and hold a downward pressure on the knob it will operate. However if you touch the knob while driving, the transmission will shift into low range causing a jerk to slow down the vehicle. This is pertinently bad on snow covered surfaces. I found there is a recall on 2017 Fusion for this exact problem the recall number is 17s36. Saying this situation may resolve in a injury or an accident. I called Ford recall at I-800-392-3673 and was told I have no claim for repair and the recall is for the 2017 only. Will you please help me with this matter? I would think safety first should prevail. Harold g cox akron OH. Phone 330-724-2480. !383 rowe st. Akron OH. 44306 3471.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

My car rolls back on a slight slope after I take my foot off of the brake. I was waiting to pull out onto the road. Why does it matter how many miles are on the care. If my car rolls back and hits a car it shouldnt matter how many miles are on the vehicle. If I was in an accident due to this problem I would fall back onto Ford motor company.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2017

Transmission will not shift , was in motion.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

After 75k miles, ptu (power transfer unit) gear inside went out on 2007 Ford Fusion awd auto. Cost to replace $2213. Noticing many complaints online with Ford awd products; called Ford motor CO to ask for recall/reimbursement because I take great care of the vehicle and feel this is a flaw, not a result of neglect or misuse. Just purchased 2016 Ford Fusion awd, not aware of this issue, so am concerned about the feasibility of it being an issue later since it doesn't appear they are looking at correcting the problem. Told that if I don't fix this, the transmission will most likely go out. While auto is driveable, it is dangerous to do so - particularly on interstate/highways, so I am having it fixed.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/09/2016

Our Ford Fusion suddenly lost power and starting acting in an unpredictable fashion, while traveling on rte 95 north in the passing lane. We narrowly avoided a rear end collision with the vehicle behind us, as well as other vehicles as we worked to get over to the safety of the breakdown lane. An orange wrench light was in an "on" state and the car was running very rough. After checking all gauges and fluids, I restarted the car and found it to be in a normal state again, with no wrench light visible. We turned around and headed home. This condition occurred one more time about 45 miles later, just a few miles from our home, same result. I researched the issue and found that the NHTSA is aware of this problem and has been asked to fix over 1 million cars exhibiting the same issue. I contacted Ford, as recommended in a report I discovered online. Their response was that, while they were aware of the issue and the problems it causes, our 2007 Fusion was not covered and we are responsible for the repairs. This issue just occurred today, therefore I have no documentation, other than what is available on many websites and blogs, documented by other Ford owners, complaining of the same issue. Am I to understand that of the million plus cars having this problem, some will be corrected, while for some reason that Ford could not explain, some are not?.

11 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2015

Driving on interstate 75 my car made a popping noise and lost power, was in limp mode, check engine light came on, had car diagnosed and found to have busted ignition coils and bad ecm, replaced those, less than a week later driving to work again and wrench light came on, it comes and goes but the check engine light is on. The car loses all power until shut off, am told it is a throttle body issue. The car has just over 73,000 miles and has been very well taken care of. I am afraid to drive any more due to the sudden loss of power on highway with no way of knowing when it is going to happen again.

12 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2015

The idler arm bolt has broken 4 or 5 times now. Once it happened while driving but thankfully we were able to pull over to the side. Last time was in a parking lot.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. The vehicle stalled vehicle was towed and diagnosed. The car stalled the vehicle power steering failed. The contact stated that while driving on a side road going 25 mph and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The vehicle then stalled, he was able to coast over to the side of road. The fuse blew from the engine. The vehicle never turned back over. The vehicle was towed to a independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs and ignition coil plugs. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. The VIN was not available. Ng.

14 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2015

For the past month I have been experiencing loss of acceleration. My car basically goes into "limp mode" when the problem arises. The car loses all acceleration and can only go about 10mph. The first time I noticed it, I was driving to work and the car started to make a "hiccup" feeling resulting in total loss of acceleration power. Almost immediately the wrench icon lights up. The only way to start driving again is to pull over and turn the car off. Upon restarting the car the wrench icon is off and seems to drive fine for a little while. Since then, I have experienced the problem at least 8 times per week, and the check engine light will come on as well for a few days then disappear. I have noticed that 2010-2013 Ford Fusions have had a customer satisfaction program assigned by Ford for this same problem, providing a 10 year/150,000 mile warranty for the electronic throttle body. Why are the earlier models not covered under this same program when they are clearly having the same issues (according to the numerous reports listed on here)??!!.

15 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/23/2014

I was driving at about 60 mph and suddenly I felt the vehicle have some type of loss of power. I tried to press on the gas pedal and the car would not accelerate and the rpm odometer was "jumping" from 1 to 1. 5 and the idle was horribly rough. The motor sounded like it was a forced idle. I pulled to the side of the road and opened the hood to see what was going on, I checked everything to see if maybe there was anything loose or something in there and there was nothing nothing that I could see spot on or notice spot on. I did some research on the 'symptoms" and cleaning or forcing shut the throttle actuator was the number one thing that kept showing. So I pulled everything apart and cleaned it and sprayed some wd-40. Once I out everything back together I then started the vehicle and the wrench light turned off and it was running like normal.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2014

Was driving all of a sudden car made a bang would not move forward had it towed to local garage was diagnosed that the power train unit went had it towed to transmission place while taking it apart they diagnosed that the gasket was the cooperate of it cost me $2200 due to Fords faulty gaskets have noticed that there tons of complaints against Ford Ford this;. Also my sister has a 2010 same thing happen to her with only 57000 miles on vehicle Ford should recall this there no reason for this happen tons of people take suburu off road and they don't have their drive trains go will never by Ford again.

17 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2014

My car has a history of lost power/stall during normal driving, it is happening more frequent so I want to file this complain to have some investigation. While accelerating to merge to the highway traffic/speed, the engine lost power and not response to pressing on the gas pedal. My wife had to steer the car back to the shoulder to avoid accident. This car is service by Ford dealer under purchased maintenance plan since we bought it new. There was no mention to service the intake/throttle body assembly, which is not serviceable. I understand this car share same platform with Ford escape which had a recall on the throttle body assembly last year. I wonder this car mode should be recalled to fix the problem.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2014

This car had a history of lost power/stall while driving on city and highways without any symptoms nor warnings. My particular concern was last week it lost power/stall while driving on multi-lane eb I-96 from detroit to grand rapids, mi, which we had to perform emergency evasive actions to get out of the busy highway traffic to avoid collision/accident that may result with personal injury or death. It had no symptoms nor warning. The car simple lost power reduce to idle speed at around 600 rpm. It failed to response to cruise control, gas pedal control. Mechanic determined that the cause likely the throttle body assembly or the mass airflow switch. Both of them are not serviceable parts and not relate to maintenance, wear or tear. This car had been serviced by Ford dealer since we bought it new. No advice or anything was given about this problem. I believe this is a manufacturer defect which has detrimental effect on safety that needs to be investigated. Thank you.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after starting the engine the gear shifter could not be switched from the park position. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified in reference to the failure. The failure mileage was 65,000. Jft.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

Several times over the past 3 years my 2007 Ford Fusion se v6 would suddenly lose power. Engine would remain running but vehicle would not accelerate. Wrench light and engine light would illuminate when this occurs. Solution is to pull over and shut car completely off for 30 seconds and restart. Sometimes this would work for a few minutes or several 1000 miles before repeating again. I have had the car into the Ford dealer multiple times and they keep telling me they can not duplicate the problem. I have found 1000's of complaints online with the same issues for what appears to be a known issue at Ford with the throttle body assembly. I returned to the dealer with all of this information and was told the throttle body assembly would take weeks to get and that the replacement part is the exact oem part which has the same defect. Ford wants me to pay to replace a defective part with a defective part. The engine suddenly losing power is extremely dangerous if in high speed traffic the risk of a crash is even more of a concern. Why is Ford not fixing this issue on a recall? this is going to get people killed!.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2013

Driving on highway at about 65 miles per hour, car stopped accelerating and when pressed the gas pedal car actually continued to slow down. Also has started to not accelerate from a stopped position. Have almost been hit from behind as I was not able to accelerate.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

On June 1st my wife was on I-20 west of ruston, la traveling to monroe, la. The car suddenly lost power and had no response on the accelerator. She coasted to an exit and pulled over. The engine wrench light was on. She turned the car off and called me to come help. When I got there the car started and I drove it home without incident. I have since taken the car in to jim taylor Ford and was told the code indicated the problem came from the throttle body and it may have to be replaced. It has not happened again but I was told that other Fusions have had the same problem and some of the owners have elected to replace the throttle for safety. This could be a major problem in traffic if and when it a happens again. Something is faulty and Ford should fix this problem.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

I was driving using cruise control today going 60 mph on a highway with my 2007 Ford Fusion. All of a sudden, I felt the car jolt. I pressed the gas, but nothing happened as if the car was in neutral. I had to coast to the side of the road. I noticed that the warning light in the shape of a wrench was on. I turned off the car. When I turned it back on, the light was off and the car worked just fine. I looked up the description of the light in the owner's manual and it said it was related to a fault in the powertrain or throttle. I saw where several people have reported this exact problem with 2010 models of the Fusion. I just had to report that it happened on my 2007 model as well. I will be taking it in to get looked at. This is very dangerous. I could have wrecked or caused an accident because I could not control the speed of my car at the time. Someone will be killed if this problem is not resolved and a recall issued. I was really scared. There needs to be a recall. I will not be using cruise control until I am confident that my car is completely fixed.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/09/2012

While passing another car my car lost power. I pressed the accelerator to the floor and nothing happen. I was almost hit head on by another on coming car. My certified Ford mechanic said it may be my throttle and I should replace it but he could not guarantee this would solve my problem. He said I was one many to have this problem with the 2007 Ford Fusion.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

My transmition was acting funny and the check engine light had come on earlier in the day but went away. I took my car to Ford and was told the check engine light was from the gas cap and they couldn't get the problem with the transmition to duplicate. The car's rpm's stay up around 2000 rpm's on a cold start and the when shifting gears they will go up to around 3 and hold for a long period of time before it shifts. I drove a manual for 12 years and I know that this should not happen with an automatic transmition. I showed the dealer the TSB concerning the rpm issue but they didn't care. I started researching the issue online and have found this is a growing problem. I just wonder how many people haven't made their voices heard or haven't experienced the issue yet. Ford needs to fix this problem with the transmition before it gets some killed.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2011

At approx. 85k miles on my 2007 Ford Fusion, there was a noticable issue in the front end. Thought it may have been some slight damage to the front a end a while back and had a half axle replaced at 88k miles. No change since and have had many components looked at. Today, Ford tells me there are several codes in the computer related to transmission problems. No indicator light has ever come on to let me know I have been driving with a bad transmission. Many people on the Ford Fusion forum (fordfusion. Net) had reported the same issue in models from 2006 through 2010. Ford bares responsability for this issue and have swept it under the rug. Letting people drive around with a bad transmission, the computer never letting people know an issue exists is erious problem and safety issue. . Last time I ever buy american.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Se v6 transmission. When pulling into a driveway to get rid of a tailgater in the city, I brought the car to a complete stop, then shifted the car into reverse after the other car had passed. I took my foot off the brake and put it on the accelerator, but got no response from the vehicle. I thought it had obeyed my command and shifted into reverse before I released the brake. The vehicle rolled backwards for about three seconds before the transmission actually shifted into reverse. This resulted in a loud bang since the car was already moving backwards at a couple miles per hour. This could have resulted in transmission damage.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2011

I have owned my Ford Fusion sel v6 since June of 2009. In may of 2011 my ac went out within minutes of being used. I had stopped at my house for a minute in between errands and the ac worked when I turned the car off. When I got back in to leave again the ac would not work. A few weeks after that, my driver side inside door handle broke and I am no longer able to open the door from the inside. Now in may 2013, my passenger side door handle is broken the same as the driver side and the two back door locks have to be locked from inside because they don't work from the remote. I have also been experiencing a loud humming sound that sounds like the tires. However, after having the car looked at, I have been told that it is a problem with my transmission (not my tires at all) I see here where many of these issues have been reported but nothing is being done about any of these issues by Ford. This is the first Ford I have owned and it is going to be the last. I am looking at getting a different car ASAP.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2009

Hard shifting everywhere and all the time. . Was letting foot off gas during shift to lessen the hard banging shift, but now that does not work . . Now unable to drive. See web site of others with same issue. . If Ford attempts to fix it. . . Its just that an attempt. I am sick of this car. . This is the biggest issue not the only one. Please make them fix this!!! norm folks can't pay 3-4k to buy a new transmission. -https://repairpal. Com/harsh-or-dalayed-shifting-of-automatic-transmission-727.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2008

The vehicle response to the accelerator is unpredictable and always delayed. Sometimes the car will interpret a small quick depression of the accelerator the same as flooring the accelerator. There is always a delay of two to three seconds before it responds at all. The same action can result in widely varying responses of the engine and transmission, apparently depending on the temperature of the air and engine. The accelerator is very touchy and seems to use only a small portion of the movement. That coupled with the transmission constantly shifting to set the engine speed at near idle in all but freeway driving makes manually controlling the speed within 5 miles per hour when near a shift point almost impossible. The constant shifting and refusal to slow down when the accelerator is released makes it impossible to manually control the speed of the vehicle accurately on hilly roads. This is a continuous problem, not a one day event.
