The abs braking system on the car is defective and essentially has made the car unusable. The abs module is apparently no longer sold and only available from a salvage yard. I have brought this vehicle to the Ford dealership for repair and even with two separate abs modules replaced the brakes still do not work properly. They have no proper repair available.
I got in an accident when I was merging onto the highway because I went to brake and they all the sudden wouldn't work and went straight to the floor. This was caused because of the recall on the brakes.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at 60 mph in a bumpy road, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle accelerated unintendedly, hit a high curb and stopped. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that she would need pay for a diagnostic test fee. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated while driving in the rain and in the process of changing lanes, the vehicle in front of her stopped as the traffic light. The contact then depressed the brake pedal. However, the vehicle hydroplaned, accelerated and crashed into the rear of the vehicle in front of her. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained severe headaches, neck pain, knee pain and sought medical assistance. The contact’s friend who was pregnant and occupying the front passenger’s seat sustained back pain. The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries and sought medical assistance. A police was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. The dealer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.
Depressed brake pedal as I approached a parking spot at a very slow speed; the pedal went to the floor; the car did not stop. Backed up off of a grassy area and the brakes worked fine. The brakes have worked fine since than. Checking various vehicle complaint sites indicate the trouble is very likely the abs hydraulic control module. I believe that Ford is aware of this problem.
Tl the contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. While driving, the brake pedal had to be depressed to the floorboard in order to stop the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to eagle river Ford (1050 e wall st, eagle river, WI 54521), but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.
Driving on slippery winter northern illinois road, stepped on brakes when approaching a stop light. Abs kicked in (seemed to be right front wheel), then brake petal went to the floor and could not stop, almost hit the car ahead of me. Brake petal remained very soft and easily went to the floor board for the next couple of days. After that, it went back to normal. I am convinced an abs valve stuck, so I went to the dealer to get a fix / part. To my surprise, dealer said Ford does not supply the part and cannot fix this problem with a new part. So, I have no solution. If I get a part from the junk yard, it will likely have the same problem in time. This is a major problem to the safety of my family, and Ford offers no solution. Only thing I can think of is deactivate the abs. At least I will have some brakes in emergency rather than no brakes.
There is a problem with my car that is very dangerous, and could be life threatening to me and others. Under certain conditions my brakes will not work. It happens when the road is wet or has snow on it. A few different things has happened which apparently depends how slippery the road is. When braking sometimes there will be a odd noise which I think is the safety braking feature, but even that doesn't seem to work correct. The worst is this. Again, when slick or slippery roads. There have been numerous times when trying to brake I have lost all braking. The brake pedel goes completely to the floor. On a few occasions this happened while trying to stop before a stop sign and ended up in the middle of the road. This has happened going at a speed of 10 to 55 mph. Twice this happened where the stop sign was at a road that was 55 mph. You can imagine what could have happened. I have read online that others are having the same problem. Why has nothing been done about this potentially deadly situation ? for crying out loud. Does there have to be deaths before action is taken ? the car was taken to a local dealer and they said the brakes needed to be blead. They seemed to be aware of this problem. . . . Again, why and the hell is nothing being done about it ? next I am going to write my state representative or someone who can make something happen. I believe I wrote to you before, but lost the paperwork that came. But it doesn't look like nothing was being done about it anyway. Oh, and when the brakes were blead by the dealer it made no difference. At least when other car manufacturers have recalls something appears to be done about it . Here in the good ole USA things seem to drag on and on and on. So does that mean foreign manufacturers are more considerate for our safety than own country ? I want action.
My 2007 Ford Fusion was purchased in 2011 and was financed, and I paid it off in December 2017. It since then only it has a 144,00 miles. It was purchased with lower mileage, of an estimation of 40,000 to 50,000 miles on it at final sale meaning it was a 2007 car, purchased in 2011, so that's a problem when before it had been paid off, and major problems of many. I would like a refund of a lesser equal to or equal value to my purchased car price from manufacture or dealership. The two recalls issued that I have not taken care of yet, and other problems with cheap made inside door handles broke easily, being hard plastic/metal, this makes getting out of my vehicle a major safety issues along with the other issues of airbags and brakes and other safety issues.
This car was purchased in 2011with 68,000 miles at time of purchase. It was purchased at tom mosanos in berks county, PA . It was paid off at the end of 2017, then now all the recalls 4 or 5 different recalls and serious recalls . I have absolutley no brakes all was to the floor with no pressure at all . To many because and I do believe that since it was paid off at the end of 2017 . That I should be offered for them to me to pick out and them to replace me another car for up to $10,00, and that tom masano gets a rebate in the amount of 10. 000 or more , I need a safe car to drive with less safety recalls as this car has major safety recalls on it.
Soft brakes - 2007 Ford Fusion accident in which car was totaled. Driving on to on ramp to interstate. Cars slowed in front of us, applied brakes and pedal went to the floor car wouldn't stop and we struck the vehicle in front of us.
This has happen intermitingly during the course of ownership. Latest date is 12/14/2017, car has 100,000 miles on it - original owner. If on slippery, or snowy road and brakes are used to stop, if abs functions, peddle goes low and stopping difficult. If pedal pumped, brakes become firm and function ok. Eventually system goes back to normal by itself.
I made a panic stop to avoid hitting a pedestrian. The anti-lock brake system was activated with this stop. The car stopped correctly. I arrived at the next intersection to stop and the brake pedal went to the floor. I rolled through the intersection and was able to pull over. I pumped the brake pedal for ten minutes before normal brake pedal pressure was achieved. The car was later checked out for the low pedal and it was determined to have a defective abs module/unit. I am driving the vehicle with the abs fuse removed to avoid this from occurring again until the replacement of the abs unit is made. This must be recalled by Ford motor company before a fatality occurs.
The abs hcu valves in my 2007 Ford Fusion have become stuck causing the brakes to become very "spongy" and dramatically increase the stopping distance of my vehicle. After some research, it is clear this is a very common, dangerous, and costly issue that Ford will not stand behind.
From time to time my abs brake pedal goes to the floor unexpectedly and car is hard to stop. The pedal stays soft for a period of time or days and then returns to it's normal position. I've taken it to my mechanic but they can find nothing wrong. Some things not right and it sounds similar to the problem with the 2007 Fusion hybrid brake problem that was resolved with csp-10b13, TSB-09-22-11.
I was involved in a car accident that should have never happened. I was driving and traffic in front of me stopped and I attempted to stop, however when I applied pressure and then felt my pedal drop and get spongy, I then had to apply much more pressure but it wasn't enough. What should have been enough stopping distance almost doubled. I attempted to avoid a direct rear end collision and managed to veer off to the right and only hit the other car on the right rear side bumper. I have never been in any accident reports where I have rear ended a person and in this case I could feel the break pedal drop under me. I filed the accident report with my insurance company. This is the statement that I gave to them. "p1 was traveling w/b in the number 3 lane of us highway 50 with the flow of traffic at about 40 miles per hour on October 20th 2017 at approximately 6:19pm. Traffic was moderate and was beginning to come to a slow down. P1 needed to take exit 6b toward CA-99 south in 1. 9 miles so I used my right turn signal to indicate I was switching from lane 3 to lane 2. As p1 proceeded to merge into the number 2 lane traffic was slowing down and I was entering the lane at 25 miles per hour. Still traveling west bound in the number 2 lane just north of the 59th street overpass, p2 who is now directly in front of p1 slams his breaks and begins to come to a complete stop. P1 was driving about 25 feet behind p2 at 25 mph and also applied the full force to the breaks. When I applied the brakes I felt a spongy feeling on my brake pedal, and it didn't behave the same and I had to reapply much more force at which time it was too late. I collided with the other vehicle at about 10 mph ".
I have a 2007 Ford Fusion sel v6. The car had 87,000 miles. It was on the way to work in the morning. The car in front of me slowed down so I was slowing down too. My foot was on the brake paddle all the time at that moment. The speed slowed down from about 35 mph to about 20-25 mph. Then it felt suddenly not working. I tried to press the brake harder but did not work. The abs didn't work either. There was no braking sound or mark on the road. The car wouldn't stop. I rear ended the car in front of me. Watched the airbag deployed. After the crash, the car kept moving forward while the front car pulled forward. I used the emergency brake to stop the car before moving the shaft to park position and turning the car off.
After engaging abs, brakes are very soft and brake pedal needs to be pushed to the floor to stop the car. Brakes were fine before and after indeterminate number of braking attempts brakes eventually return to normal. Usually after a few days of driving. Only consistent condition that triggers the defect is activation of abs. Has happened in winter on ice, summer in rain or gravel.
The brakes went soft while approaching a red light and I could not stop. It felt like they 'blew out' and they made a low pitch scratching noise. The light then turned green, preventing an accident. I took the car into the Ford dealership and they told me the hydraulic control unit needed to be replaced. This is a design-flaw on Ford's part, and not a routine maintenance issue.
Brakes - on many occasions while driving on the highway and city street I find I have to press the brake all the way to the floor for the car to fully stop and I have been in many close call fender benders. Electrical - the left turn signal stopped working in route to work ,so I assumed the bulb blew out. However, when driving the car again the turn signal started working again. For the two weeks the left turn signal worked intermittently which made me very nervous when making left turns. As of now the left turn signal is working again with no intermittence and I don't know if/when the turn signal or something else will stop working out of the blue or why this happened in the first place. Trunk leakage - the tire well in the trunk as well as the spare tire area was full of water and not sure where the leakage is coming from. I have had the car 9 years and don't recall water in that area. At this point I don't place items in the trunk for fear of it getting wet on a heavy rain days here in florida. Vents - I had to remove the defrost vent above the dashboard because the lining that holds it in place is bent and warped a/c - continues to malfunction, I have had the air serviced multiple times and when working it's great but then the air becomes less cool and goes completely hot. This is torture during the summer.
I reported an issue relating to the abs in my 2007 Ford Fusion on 11/24/18, but just realized I had used my tile number instead of VIN. Perhaps that's why I have never received a response? I have attached a copy of my previous complaint. I am wondering if my vehicle is or will be a part of the recall for abs valve because I have been waiting for years for this issue to be resolved so that I can get the vehicle repaired and get rid of it.
Per your web site and investigation pe16017, my 2007 Fusion is exhibiting these exact symptoms regarding braking distance. Please be ensured this is a real problem that Ford should recall. It is frightening. I had to brake hard to avoid hitting someone. From that point forward, my brakes easily require 30-50% more pressure (sometimes more) to stop the vehicle.
Brake pedal goes to floor when abs engaged. This happens every time abs is engaged. Pumping breaks recovers pedal feel.
When pulling into the garage at home, the brake pedal went to the floor.
My brakes have gone soft after a incident this past winter when I applied the brakes while going over a rough road. I have replaced the brakes, you have to pump the brakes to get it to stop. The brakes function, they are soft when applied. My dealer, mathews Ford located in oregon, ohio stated I need a new hydraulic control box. The dealer stated the cost to replace the part would be $1400. 00. They also explained I am not the first to experience this problem. Please keep me informed regarding my complaint and possible recall. Regards, karl r. Helm khelm60@gmail. Com.
The brake pedal goes soft when I brake on a rough, or uneven road. The pedal remains soft until the car is shut off, and not used for an extended time period of time. This has happened to me more than once. The first time was in late 2015. I spent over $500 getting a majority of the braking system replaced. It just happened again on Monday, Feb 13, 2017.
I want to add my name to the brake softening issue that occurs on some Fusions after the abs is activated. This has happened several times and it takes days for the brakes to recover. The most recent time occurred last week and the brakes are still soft and the pedal goes to the floor before proper breaking occurs. I am very concerned because if I need to stop quickly to avoid an accident or pedestrian, I am afraid I won't be able to. Please continue to investigate. Due to the nature of this problem, I feel this issue should be a recall. Feel free to contact me if you have additional questions about this issue.
After hitting a bump in the road the brakes became soft, going almost to the floor. I was driving on a paved county road.
I have called the dealership for the takata recall and they continue to tell me that parts are not available additionally, last winter my abs braking system after a short slide on ice, the brake pedal became very soft and remains that way currently and I am concerned that if I have to brake hard for a severe stop that it will not stop properly. It happened when I braked on a street with ice, the abs kicked in as the tire slide on the ice, then afterwards the brake pedal has to be depressed significantly more towards the floor of the car that it used to from the inception of purchasing the car.
The contact owns a 2007 Ford Fusion. While driving unknown speeds, the brake pedal was applied, but felt soft and the vehicle failed to respond, the vehicle was taken to a local dealer (capitol Ford located at 4490 cerrillos rd santa fe, nm 87507) where it was diagnosed that the hydraulic brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 147,622.
Brakes are mushy after the anti-lock brakes engage. This happened before, months ago, and the mushy feeling went away in a few days. The problem just happened again and the brakes are still mushy a day later. The first time was due to snow on the road. The second time due to moss and rain on a gravel driveway on a steep hill.
While driving down a city road this morning at 40 mph, I applied the brakes as I approached the intersection. There was a red light and I was unable to decelerate normally or completely stop. The brake pedal depressed completely to the floor and I had very little control. I pumped the brakes feverishly. The brake pedal was very soft and hit the floor quickly. If it had not been so early in the morning, I would have been in an accident. Though I was able to slow my speed, I was not able to stop in time. I had to roll through the red light and turn right. This is not the first time this has happened. It happened before on the highway in rainy, inclement weather. The traffic was slow and I was able to avoid hitting the car in front of me. I attributed this to wet, slippery road conditions. I now feel something is truly wrong with the braking system.
When hitting a bump in the road while braking or after braking quickly and hard, brake pressure/resistance is lost--not completely, but disarmingly noticeable. I have to pump the brakes once to feel more pressure/resistance. My Fusion has experienced this problem for years. I'm pretty sure I reported it to the service department of harrold Ford in sacramento CA years ago and that I was told the brakes function as they should. Given that reply, I assumed that this is a side effect of abs brakes. I am reporting this complaint now because of the recent media reports that NHTSA is investigating this type of complaint. . The date shown in "when did this happen?" is an estimate of the last time it occurred. It has occurred many times in the 10+ years that I have been driving this car. The car is owned by my employer, California farm bureau federation.
Brake pedal will randomly go to the floor, losing all brake control. When pedal is pumped, I regain brakes, but have had some very close calls. It usually does it while in motion. This has happened several times. Local Ford dealer found no brake problems when inspected.
This has been ongoing for over a year. The most recent event was 12/16/2016. After abs engages for any length of time, brakes go soft and there is no braking power until the floor, when they finally activate. Pumping the brake itself a few times can temporarily harden the brakes. What fixed it the previous year [until another abs event] was doing a few hard emergency stops at a slow speed. This is no longer working and the only thing I can think of to do is take this to a dealer every time it activates and have them bleed the abs/brake system. I haven't taken this into the dealer, but from what I've been reading, it's the hcu unit that is leaving a valve open. Brakes harden up again when the engine is turned off and put in park. Again, there is very little or no braking power until well after the pedal is nearly fully depressed to the floor.
When applying the brakes in snow, the brake pedal went to the floor. Happened again on regular blacktop pulling out of a low spot.
