The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated the while her daughter was driving at various speeds, the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard however, the vehicle was slow to respond which extended the stopping distance. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to malloy Ford charlottesville (2070 seminole trail, charlottesville, va 22901, (434) 977-7960) where it was confirmed that the part was not available. The vehicle was taken to madison Ford (2895 s. Seminole trail, madison, va 22727, (540) 948-6806) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective abs control module and abs unit, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who performed a brake flush, replaced brake pads and rotors. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was 89,000. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Had new front brake pads installed Nov 2017. During rush hour going 25 under the posted speed limit of 45 mph (as fast as I could safely go with traffic), I was rear ended. Brakes would not work, brake pedal went all the way to the floor. Crashed into car in front of me. After repair (new front end), brakes will still go all the way to the floor on occasion, and are very jumpy-like it's stopping then releasing rapidly. 3 shops have found no issues.
When breaking sudden my brake pedal goes to the ground and won't stop. It happened when hitting a bump in the road and breaking and has occurred in slippery conditions. It has been intermittent. I have had my break pads, rotors replaced, all lines checked for pressure no leaks. The car may be very dangerous if we fall in the wrong situation. Fortunately that hasn't happened yet. Today the brakes are working fine but you just don't know when you have to use them and the pedal goes to the floor. This has happened on several occasions in the past few months.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while slowing to a stop from approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to operate as intended. The contact stated that on several occasions it required additional energy to depress the brake pedal when attempting to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the front and rear brake pads were replaced however the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 145,000. Ah.
Starting about 4 months ago, the brakes started acting extremely weird. When you are driving and push in the brakes to stop, the brake pedal pushes like a sponge and wont stop. At first when you push it, it starts to brake, but then quits working and requires you to push it to the floor. This will usually go on 1-2 weeks, and then will start working like normal. About 1-2 weeks each month, the brakes act up and you feel like you wont stop. This happens whether you are going 15 mph or 60 mph. This can happen at anytime, any place, any speed. I have taken this into a dealership, which they told me they thought new brake pads and rotors would fix. $400 later and nothing fixed.
I was braking when I caught a pot hole and the brake pedal went to the floor. Since then the brake pedal is soft and will randomly go to the floor. I took it to a Ford dealer and they tried replacing the rear rotors and pads and flushing the fluid but it did not work. I took it back and they ended up replacing the hydraulic control unit with a used one. It still doesn't feel right but it's better than it was.
The brakes are "spongy", slow to stop, go to floor, etc. The pads have been replaced, rotors/drums serviced, fluid checked. All is in good repair but problem still persists. This happens whether driving on surface streets or interstates, on dry and wet roads. It's been a problem for almost a year. I was recently advised the brake booster needs to be replaced but while researching the cost of this, I came across many other complaints of the same problem, spanning several model years. This is obviously a factory defect that Ford motor company needs to address and issue a recall on.
Upon exiting a highway and approaching a right turn exit ramp and driving over a rough patch of road under construction. While turning and simultaneously applying the brakes the abs system engaged and then the brake system suddenly failed with the pedal going to the floor making it very difficult to stop the car. I arrived at my location less than a mile away and safely parked the car. After my work conference (7 hours later) I retuned to my car and the brakes pressure returned, but remained very soft. Currently, when the car is now operated the brake pedal needs to be applied almost to the floor when descending a hill or coming to a complete stop on level ground. The car responds initially when the brake pedal is applied, but then goes soft as the car needs to come to a stop at less than 10mph. To find consistent pressure for braking the car responds best when the the brake pedal is depressed partially, then released and applied again. This method was adopted after the brake failure occurred. Brake pads and rotors are in good condition.
Ever since I had to slam on the brakes to avoid someone else getting in an accident 6 months ago on the highway, the brakes have been very spongy. I have replaced brake pads and turned the rotors also bled the brakes. I can still press the pedal to the floor. Can't seem to find a fix. I'm a huge Ford fan, but this is just embarrassing and extremely dangerous for such a popular car and company. Sack up and make a recall for those of us who are true Ford lovers!.
After abs engaged the brake pedal is now very soft and requires that the pedal to be pushed completely to to floor. Approx 3months ago new brake pads and at least 2 rotors were replaced as well as the brake fluid was flushed. So I know that the brake system was in good shape at that time.
