I was driving back home and the power steering assist fault message came up on my dash. I didn't know what that was about until after about 4 miles when I was supposed to get off the highway but the steering just wouldn't turn. I immediately freaked out. I kept going straight for a bit and I then tried to force it towards the right shoulder (thanks goodness I was on the right lane already) but as I started to slow down the cars behind me would honk and the passagens would stare at me while passing like if I was trying to mess with them on purpose. That was scary and embarrassing. Turned the emergency lights on and pulled over to call a friend who knows a bit about cars. I was told I was ok to force the steering in order to get home, although I was so sure it was going to literally break and come off in my hands. After around 13 miles I got home and my now both arms are totally sore and I'm not kidding. I wasn't even able to maneuver the car into my small garage since it's impossible to turn the steering wheel if the car is fully stopped. The car is there. . . Parked and useless. I just called Ford and I was told I will have to pay for the tow truck to take the car to the dealership, for the diagnostic and to get the car fixed. Seriously? I'm an college student full of stuff to pay and always living in a budget. It seems like the cost for this is over $1800 and there's no chance I have such absurd amount to fix this problem that wasn't even my fault. I need the car every single day since in utah there's no way you can get anywhere without it. I don't consider driving the car in this situation (it's probably not even recommended) and I've been borrowing my roommate's car, which I can't do for much longer for obvious reasons. I wonder what Ford is going to do to help not only me but all the unfortunate Ford Fusion's owners.
Hello, my name is mya owens. Recently I bought a Ford fuision 2010. I am pretty familiar with cars so I understand the commonly routine of taking care of a car. It's been only 30 days. The first first incident that happened on the parkway my car shut completely down. I got it to work back up but then I got a mechanic to do a tune up. Everything went smooth until I drove about 3,000 miles into the car & it told to me check the engine oil and the brakes. By the time I went to start my car up the lighting slowly faded away. Eventually the car shut off completely and almost rolled down the hill. I immediately put the car into park and put on the emergency brakes. Now the car completely shut down. I replaced the spark plugs and everything. I've been reading about recalls on the model of the Ford Fusion 2010. I would like to see if I could either get it fixed or possibly a letter to get a new or similar version from the car models dealership. I've also invested so much money into fixing this car and it just seems to be falling apart. The damage was all of a sudden. There was also an oil leak.
Advancetrac came on and also service power steering now came up steering is now hard I check the recalls on this site yesterday went to a Ford dealer the said their where no recalls I came home and refreshed the page an now it says that theirs 0 recalls. . I am unaware of what's going on. . . Please get back to me this is my only vehicle I have to get to work. . . . Steering is hard n it's a hassle drive it.
Wheel locked up while driving down a city street and "power steering assist fault" error popped up. I was unable to move the wheel at all. This is very dangerous and my year (2010) does not currently have a recall, but the later years do for some reason. The 2010 should also have the recall!!.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the check brake system message displayed with the traction control warning light illuminated. While depressing the brake pedal, the pedal extended to the floorboard and the vehicle would not immediately stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the brake module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. Haley Ford richmond located at 10724 jefferson davis hwy, richmond va 23237 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 152,000.

The rack and pinion is starting to get hard and making noise. My steering is not functioning as it suppose to be. Engine is starting to shake while on red light. My a/c doesn't work and lights do not work from the inside.
My car says check cruise control and has almost caused me to wreck with my child in the car this is a Ford defect as the power steering is electrical.
When driving steering intermittently has gone out with power steering assist fault appearing on the screen, usually restarting the car would fix it. Now going to work car didn't have power steering, after restarting advancetrac came on as well and now power steering assist fault is on permanently.
I was driving my 2010 Ford Fusion se on a highway and suddenly the steering wheel locked up and became extremely difficult to turn. I was fortunate enough to be able to turn into a local shopping mall. An alert popped up in the dash that said service electrical power steering. I called my local Ford service company and the service technician explained that this was a recall on the rack and pinion/ steering gear for my car model. He explained to me that this was a recall and unfortunately a common issue with the vehicle I had. However, I found out that my VIN was not included in this recall, and was informed that I would have to pay for the repairs myself. I called the Ford company and explained to them the issue thinking that they would simply add my vehicle and I was told that my VIN wasn't included. I explained to them how they could call my local dealership where my car was being repaired to confirm what I said was true, however, I was told they wouldn't do that. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the supervisor called a day later. She told me that at this time my car would not be added to the recall. I asked her how and why they came to this conclusion and she informed me that this was protocol. I asked her if they did any research into why my VIN was not added the first time, or double checked to see if there was an oversight as to why my VIN was not added and she told me that they did not look into my issue or claim, she just listened to the call, and called me back to inform me that at this time the would not add my car to the recall list. I asked her who decided to add the vehicles was it Ford or NHTSA and she informed me she did not know. I again ask her how I can get someone to review this issue as this is a serious recall and matter. I explained to her that I could have been on the interstate when the steering went out. She told me to contact NHTSA.
Hydraulic control unit and abs system failure. Ford recalled the same systems for their 2010 Fusion. Why is my 2010 Ford Fusion not included??? Ford must expand their recall.
Interior ac blower motor failure. Same issue in a previous 2010 Ford Fusion. Air would fluctuate on and off and then will die completely. Nothing fixes the issue besides replacing blower motor and resistor.
Dtcs u3000:04, u3000:49 and u2011:49 appeared while putting the vehicle in reverse, and has been intermittent since, causes complete loss of power steering until able to restart the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 60 mph, the vehicle loss power steering assist and became difficult to steer. The contact stated that the service advance trac and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the clock spring and the electronic steering system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Zoellner Ford-Lincoln of beatrice located at 4115 north s 6th st, beatrice, ne 68310, 402-223-2547, was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was informed of failure. Pulled out of parking space, made left turn, went about 50 ft. And car totaly died. No battery power at all. N0 dash lights when key is on, no hazard lights, won't start, no battery powerat all. Removed battery terminals for a few minutes and replaced. Battery power restored, car started and everything worked. No resetting clocks or radio.
Dash panel indicated door ajar, emergency and other brakes were engaged, tire pressure low, interior lights came on, blinkers no longer work. This all happened suddenly while driving down a flat street, 25 mph, weather was 65 degrees, dry weather, during the day.
Power steering went out and it says service advancetrac system & ser ice power steering.
power steering assist fault this showed up on my screen as I was driving and then it slowed me down to a complete stop. Then after a few weeks my power steering wheel went out and now it says service power steering now.
The ev system is no longer working. The hybrid battery is healthy and the owners manual states it is expected to last the lifetime of the vehicle. Many others have noted this issue as the battery "aging out" as programmed by Ford. A suggested remedy is to reset the battery to age >0;<10. Without this reset, the hybrid runs on only the gas motor. At times, this delays acceleration both forwards and backwards as the gas motor (ice) starts back up after stop. This hesitation can easily cause a wreck when pulling into traffic from a stop.
I started my car when leaving work and received an error that the power steering failed. I followed the guidelines in the book and turned off the car for 30 seconds and restarted. On restart the error returned. I drove car to mechanic and had no power steering. After talking with mechanic attempted to leave and still no power steering. Another error turned on prior to leaving the parking lot with advancetrac failure. Left car at mechanic. Error sounds similar to other Ford and Lincoln cars with power steering failure.

Car accelleration is sluggish/weak after car comes to complete stop. Poses real danger when entering traffic, especially left turns with oncoming traffic. Problem has been reported by several others. Cause is design defect in vehicle/battery age counter in car's computer. Only allows for one digit. Causes battery to stop working properly after car reaches 10 years of age. My car was purchased in aoril 2010. Had local auto shop reset counter to "0". (car has only 77,000 miles) now functions as intended. Copy of repair invoice attached. I will send copy to Ford motor company rquesting reimbursement after filing report here.
The fan motor cuts in and out. We gave replaced it 3 times and after about 6 months it will cut in and out randomly until eventually there is no fan running at all. It does not seem very safe if the wires or motor continue to short out. Chance of a fire? please advise if any recalls for this probkem.
Abs control module malfunction. Makes brake pedal extra spongy and hard to brake.
My 2010 Ford Fusion had the service power steering light come on while driving down the highway, and then the power steering went out and the service advancetrac came on. I called the dealership and even though my car has two open recalls for airbags and fuel tank, along with an extended one on my throttle body, they can't get my car in until next month. I've tried disconnecting the battery terminals, and replaced the battery in hopes that it would reset the computer as the car does not have a power steering pump and is controlled by a computer chip.
The power steering stopped working & almost caused the driver to have an accident. Vehicle was moving in a parking lot. Upon turning into a parking space the vehicle steering failed & almost hit the car next to it. A mechanic ran diagnostic & determined the electronic epas torque sensor had failed.
Dashboard warning lights suddenly came on, temperature gage went to hot and car suddenly shut off while moving.
My 2010 Ford Fusion power steering failed. I started my car and received an error message that the electric steering system had a fault.
Power stearing module has given out.
Power sterring some times when starting ,have to turn off them restart to make it work. Windshiele wipers intermitten stopsworking, blind spot light, cross traffic, rear parking aid light comes on cant turn off all on starting off.
Upon 9 years of age my 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid (any many others) no longer functions as a hybrid vehicle and will only use the internal combustion engine. This causes a safety concern due to the fact that the ev motor is supposed to kick in from a stop upon acceleration. This causes a significant delay in acceleration while it tries to use the ev motor but cannot due to this limitation. While at roundabouts or when making left hand turns this is a significant safety issue. Ford has done nothing to address this or even acknowledge the fact that this issue exists.
On March 7th, 2019 at 0600 hours, an error code popped up on the dash showing a power steering assist fault. Car was stationary at this time at homeowners driveway. Steering wheel was difficult to turn as there was no power to the steering. According to to NHTSA documentation, numerous complaints on this same related issue prompted recalls on other models, however 2010 Ford Fusion, which experienced same problem was omitted from original recall. Further research revealed numerous complaints regarding same or similar issue prompting another investigation. Unknown what the second results yielded.
Electronic power steering fault. The electronic power steering failed on me multiple times in the past week. It will be working fine then out of nowhere stop working and makes the car really hard to steer. Its happened when stationary and in motion when pulling in or out of the driveway. Needs to be recalled and fixed. I have stopped driving the car until it gets recalled and fixed for the safety of myself and others.
Driving down the road and the service power steering lightcame on out of no where and my steering stopped working.
