1 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2013

My wife driving a 2010 Ford Fusion with was driving down I 75 in detroit arround 9:30 am to work, when all sudden the engine lost power. The maintenance light ( yellow wrench) started binking rapidly. She could not accelarate even though is was pressing the accelator pedal to ground. The engine started shuddring and shaking. My wife managed to steer the vehicle towards the exit on the highway. Drivers behind her started to brake as her vehicle started to slow down. She managed to take the next exit and pull in gas station where she shut the engine off. After about a 5 min she started the car. She did not find any problem. She went home and called me. At home I put a code reader on the car and found it had the error p2111. Investingating this further tells me it is due to fuel injection trottle body. I called the dealer huntington Ford in rochester hills, mi who wants me to bring the car for checkup with scanner ( costs about $96). Since the car has 58300 miles on it is no longer covered by factory warranty. I am concerned this is a serious safefty defect and needs to be covered under warranty. I do see there a lot of people who have has this problem with 2010 Ford Fusions.

2 Other Fuel System Fuel Injection System problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2012

Vehicle goes into "limp-home" mode suddenly and unexpectedly. Happened on I-95 and was lucky I could pull over without getting killed. Dealer could not find problem although this should have been well-known to them by then. Happened several times since and got worse and now car is immobile and too dangerous to drive. Apparently a problem with fuel injection throttle body which Ford is well aware of and part is back-ordered 7-10 days (they say). Nhtsa inititated an investigation of problem in Feb 2013 but Ford has not informed customers of this very dangerous situation nor offered any fix. Seems unconscionable to me. What does NHTSA propose to do about this and why hasn't it done so? this situation is literally without exageration a danger to human life and the manufacturer does nothing. What is NHTSA for?.
