2011 Ford Fusion while driving the power steering now and advancetrak warnings came on. Took to shop and was told rack and pinion needs to be replaced. Wanted to charge me $3000; I pick up my car and it's been working but I am afraid after reading everyone else's issues that this is bad.
Car was turned off and parked in driveway when I realized that the driver side door would not open. The inside handle was inoperable and to exit the vehicle I had to climb across console and passenger seat. The car was driven to Ford dealer where mechanic verified after removing interior door panel the door handle assembly was cracked. The repair cost without tax was $209. 42 which included part #6e5z*5422601*a @ $61. 07 and labor @ $139. 95. While waiting for my repair another customer bought their new Ford Fusion in for the same issue which led me to question service advisor and sales manager who both advised there were no recall issue with interior door handles.
Made a u-turn received the bell tone and panel display that reads "service advancetrack" and a display in the top left of display panel between rim & mpr meters of an orange car with 2 lines.
Power steering suddenly went out while traveling at 34-35 mph. Car dash provided a power steering failure notice and a service advanced track notice. Called dealership and am waiting on call back from my service adviser. Was in a straight away, thankfully not turning.
Driving at city speeds and the power steering completely fails. Turn the vehicle off and then on again and it fixes the problem. Drive some more and a few days later, it happens again. A few days later, it completely goes. Take the car to the local Ford dealer and am charged $1832. 35 for a new rack and pinion. Ladies and gentlemen, a rack and pinion won't fix itself if you turn the car on and off. I did some research on this problem on line at Fordfusionforum. Com. It seems to be an abs module, not the rack and pinion. Called Ford today and they said no reimbursement was possible. A new rack and pinion for a car with only 21 thousand miles on it? crazy.
Car bucked then completely died (in the middle of the street)! lights that came stop safely now, wrench, engine, triangle with exclamation point. Took a few times to start back up. Took it to the dealer and they said they did not have a code but did not find anything wrong. A few days later, it happened again. This time in the middle of the intersection! ( same codes) brought it to dealer again, this time apparently they found the code. The dealer said gas was going in the wrong place and replaced a valve. It has since happened more than five times, all happening at less than 5 mph when starting after a stop. Currently with another Ford dealership (given the previous one cracked the windshield but claimed it was already there, not to mention the poor service to the car). This latest incident we had the car towed. This was at the recommendation of the Ford regional representative who has been extremely helpful. (by the way, this Fusion is a hybrid. ) currently waiting for diagnosis.
