general problems of the 2011 Ford Fusion - part 1

I need help to get the recalls done on the vehicle I purchased and was never warned of any issues and now stuck and Ford service is dwnyinf the repair recalls and I cannot afford or find financing. Please help.

7/24/25 Ford dealer replaced airbag recall, however, the caution light still lights up, like there is still a problem. To do a diagnostic why , they will not cover the cost. Is it possible that the new airbag still has a problem and should they cover the cost of diagnostic problem.

As I drive the powersteering is locking up and my steering assist vault keeps coming on. I have taken my vehicle to clinton , indiana Ford dealer & currently taking it back 11/28 for the same issue. Please help. 765-592-5477.

Door handle mechanism made of plastic and breaks, preventing the locking and opening of door from the inside. The inability to leave your car without opening the door from the outside poses a serious safety risk to the driver and passenger in the need to exit a car quickly during emergency situations. This is a common occurrence from the self-repair videos I found online, and the method of failure and the symptoms of failure seem to be the same. My failure occurred when trying to pull the handle quickly breaks the plastic latch inside the mechanism and prevents the door from opening upon pulling the handle.

It started in February 2023 no warning lights nothing just when I came to a stop at a red light the car dies it will start right back most of the time but other times when you start it back it's like the starter stays engaged and makes a struttering sound and whole car shakes and you have to hurry and shut it back off and restart it again the longer you drive the car the more it dies when you come to a stop other times it may not do it for days I've almost been in 7 accidents that I've counted bc of this issue bc it dies and ppl think I should be moving and I can't or I just turn at a light and it will die and I can go until I restart it I also think it cause my battery to go out bc I had to replace it not long after this started. It's not been reported to anyone but you or inspected but is available to be anytime. Components affected ( door handle inside passanger side)my 2nd issue is with my passenger side door handle without warning it just stopped working and now you have to roll window down to open from outside my safety could be at risk bc I wouldn't be able to get out of car if there was a crash. It's not been reported, inspected by anyone but is available anytime to be.

The power steering has failed intermittently (at least 5 separate occasions) while driving. The failure was inconsistent between times driven and parked. First time noticed, turned vehicle on and could barely move the wheel. Turned vehicle off and back on and didn't have an issue with the steering wheel or on the road and got home okay. The issue started out this way and then once it was consistent it was unable to operate the vehicle safely. This vehicle is our main vehicle so it happened to myself and to my husband while on his way home from work. However, when the power steering failed was extremely difficult to turn the wheel while driving. We took into dealership and the diagnostics was the electrical power steering is faulty and the traction control has failed. After looking into the issue - we believe our 2011 Ford Fusion may have been one of the recalls that should have been included for the power steering failure recall that was sent to other 2011 Ford Fusions. We did not receive a notification, however after viewing online - Ford recalled 445k vehicles with the same exact issue.

Blower motor resistor wiring he's up to a point where the wire melts could cause a fire the wire is crispy burnt had it replaced and had you have it replaced the next 2 years cuz it does the same every year.

On several occasions my teenage daughter has had her life put in danger by this mfg defect when the Ford Fusion suddenly flashes a red wrench warning sign and decelerates to a snail’s crawl in the middle of an interstate highway. This happens frequently on hotter days when the car has been run for over an hour. It is unacceptable, dangerous and sad that there’s been no required safety recall by Ford to fix this problem. A simple search online shows this to be happening repeatedly.

It started in January 2022 riding down the road, and the front left tire blew out. While replacing the tire is when the first, of more than a dozen lug nuts / studs/bolts broke off. This would make the car make a weird noise causing the tires to make a weird noise and it be the wheel wobbling. When you’d get up to 45mph or so it would cause the whole to shake and make a noise as well. I went to b&b tire to have front pads, all rotors and a master cylinder replaced. They said 40% was left on pads and rotors. Also that the used master cylinder wasn’t any good? so, none of the maintenance seemed to resolve the brakes. They were kinda of stumped ?the lug nuts/ studs/ bolts all the way around have either had to be replaced, or sporadicly came loose, broke off on there own. It as if the wheels/ lug nuts/ studs/ bolts and brakes are a combination of issues working against each other. We are riding with every tire missing at least one of the three. Some tires are missing more. No, we realized something wasn’t right with the wheels/ lug nuts/ studs/ bolts/ brakes with the first front left tire blew out. Now the back right wheel is giving us trouble. The front left only has 3 lug nuts/ studs/ bolts holding it on. I have photos of the ones that had to be replaced, and what’s on the wheels at this point. The tire pressure light stays on. Whether you just put right amount of air in each on or not. The front left tire was the beginning of everything. I’ve found a tire weight that fell off in my driveway. I called in and filed a complaint via telephone. The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his wife was starting the vehicle, the power steering assist failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was 3 months past the deadline for the steering recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 80 mph, the advance trac and "service power steering soon" warning lights and messages were illuminated. The steering wheel inadvertently jerked out of the contact's hands 5 - 6 times. The contact pulled over and disconnected the fuse from the power steering assist module. The contact was able to drive to his residence without power steering assist. The contact self-diagnosed the vehicle with a code reader that there was no communication to the power steering assist, and that the stabilitrak wheel speed sensor on the front passenger’s side was faulty. The contact replaced the front passenger’s side wheel speed sensor. However, after the replacement, all the wheel speed sensors appeared faulty on the code reader. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for the repair but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 103,945.

Power steering fault my car I couldn't steer the cr.

I was driving down walker road going onto day hollow and when I got to the intersection there was no stop sign indicating to stop, when I got there the other side had no stop sign either and when I came to a stop a car flew by as we both had the right of way, I have dash cam video and if you don't fix it someone's gonna die right there. Nothing actually happened to my car.

When my wife got in her car to go to work, the driver door would not latch. When pushing the door all the way to the closed position it appeared as if it was shut, but there was never any force holding the door in place. We managed to get the door to appear closed by me pushing it shut and her hitting the lock button from the inside. At this point, if she only pushed out a little bit on the door, it seemed the latch would hold. However, she told me it flung open when she made a right hand turn to drop it off at the mechanic's. This happened without warning. There has a never been any problem with the latch of the driver door. This vehicle was stationary when we discovered the issue.

Recall code p0456 was repaired by dealer. Sent back to dealer to be told they gave me a faulty part. Code comes back on, so I sent car to different dealer for repair. It was repaired but now code cane back on for the 3rd time now. Code is on now after repaired a week ago. I was not given a loaner car and they had my car for a week. I do not want to keep going back and forth due to a recall.

I got this 2011 Ford Fusion in 2020. The car runs good, but after a couple stops or when I'm slowing down the car turns off and my battery drains. I've replaced the battery, alternator, new shifter, I've taken it to mechanics and they can't figure out the problem, the car still turns off. Please help.

Oil, abs, and traction control lights came on. "service advancedtrac" code on dash. No power steering.

We were driving our 11 Fusion on a narrow road and pulled over into loose gravel while braking and the abs was activated and the brake pedal went almost to the floor. The next day the brakes seemed fine, then I pulled out of my driveway and the brakes went almost to the floor again and the pedal has never came back. I'm scared to drive this car because I fear that someone is going to get killed before Ford is forced to enact a recall. Please help us! sincerely, fed up.

Drivers inside door handle broke and unable to exit. Required crawling over to passenger door. The outside handle opens. The inside door handle loose and unstable. My vehicle should have been included in recall model/year. The internet is flooded with same complaint problem of Ford Fusion 2009 2010 and 2011. Please my VIN car to recall. Injury to right knee when crawling over from driver door to passenger door.

Driver's door does not open from inside. And power lock is stacked iin lock position. There is a recall exactly for this purpose on 2013-2017 Fusion with the same system than in my 2011 Fusion.

While driving, at posted speed, 40mph . . . . All at once, there was a complete loss of acceleration, a very rough idle to the engine and a wrench icon showed on the dash. I had to quickly pull off to the side of the road. I was able to turn the vehicle off and then when I started the vehicle again the problem seemed to reset and the wrench icon disappeared. I took the vehicle to local mechanic and their computer tools were not able to find anything wrong (codes with a diagnostic check). Car seemed to run fine for approximately the next 500 miles and then, while driving on a busier road at 65 mph, the vehicle did the exact same thing, again causing me to need to avoid an accident and pull to the side of the road. I, once again, was able to reset the system by turning the vehicle off and back on. I am very concerned about the safety of this issue and feel that I am now limited only to local travel.

The blower motor connector and blower motor resistor will melt with use, which causes smoking to come from the passenger side flood under the glove box. Is not safe and I have replaced 3 times since 2014. It can happen while sitting and driving, does not matter. I have reached out to Ford they must not care because I have been told its not their problem, or to get over it.

Faulty driver's side door latch will not open from the inside. The vehicle was parked. After climbing out the passenger side door and walking around the car the driver's door did open from the outside. Ford lists a recall for 2013-2014 Fusion, but not earlier years. An internet search shows I am not the only 2011 owner with this safety issue.

When closing the drivers side door it won't latch closed. The door bumps back without closing. It takes at least two attempts to close the door. This started when leaving the vehicle and trying to close the door. It takes several attempts to properly close the door from the inside. I have not driven the vehicle since this started.

Driver side door will not open from the inside it was like the door handle had broken on the inside. In order to open the door I have to press my unlock button and pull the outside door handle multiple times.

The interior door handle of my 2011 Ford Fusion will not open. Not only is this an inconvenience, it's also dangerous. In an accident every second counts. If you can't escape your vehicle the results could be fatal. I researched online and found that the door handle problem is prevalent with 2006-2012 Fusions, as evident by the number of complaints. There is even a work around trick posted. The service department at the autonation Ford westlake dealership quoted $212. 59 to repair my handle. My intake representative quoted the cost of repair without even looking it up because he's processed so many, many repairs. The vehicle manufacturer should voluntarily issue a recall and repair the car.

Abs module brake pattle goes all the way down Ford knows about it but won't recall it it is a safety issue they won't us too pay close to 1000 dollars to fix it an they knew about it I am looking to resolve this situation almost got in a rear end collision it was in san marcos texas 8-15-2018.

Power steering assist failure a/c fail defrost fail turns on & off by itself or just doesnt operate at all anymore tracadvance failure.

Driver's side inside door handle stopped working. Cannot get out using the drivers door. Must climb out passenger's side or roll down window and open from outside. Apparently this is a very very common problem. Why no recall? this is clearly a safety issue.

My wife upon returning home could not open the driver's door. I had to open from the outside of the car. I later read that this has happened to a number of people and one temporary solution is to roll down the window and open the door from the outside. I also have read that 2010, 2013 and 2014 Ford Fusions have been recalled for this problem but not 2011. I have however found that a number of owners of 2011 Fusions have also had this problem. Of course the car was out of gear, turned off, and stationary.

Reported 04/15/17 NHTSA id # 10978640 driver side interior door handle broken. I paid $209. 42 at Ford dealer to order and replace. The replaced door handle broke again on 02/24/18, not even 1 year later. Returned to dealer, advised that part # 6e5z*5422601*a is now in stock due to multiple replacements performed at dealership. Since there is a 2 year warranty on part, the replacement was no charge however would like NHTSA to investigate quality of part being installed.

Engine light on, drove to Ford dealership and was advised due to work load they could not perform diagnostic scan and to return on Monday. Drove to private service mechanic, ran diagnostic, report scan code p1450 unable to bleed up tank. Replaced purge valve and message did not reappear. I was later informed there was a Ford safety recall 15s34 which I never received that was issued. I paid $223. 70 for repair which would have been free at Ford dealer had I received notice.

I was driving down the road and heard a loud startling explosion sound. The sound scared me and causing me to swerve. I pulled off on the shoulder and noticed that it was my sunroof glass that literally exlode. The glass was shattered and pushed up a bit. The sunroof was not engaged or being used at the time. I had just left work and was on a 2 lane highway. Thank goodness there were no other cars around when I swereved. The Ford dealership told me they won't fix it. Surprising to me being it's a Ford vehicle. I have an appt. With a body shop to see if they can fix it.

Airbag signal light on, now off, but hear noise sometime I bought this car last October, 2 recalls are incomplete.
