Car just stops while driving. Happened 5 times in the last 5 months. Most recent incident was 10/04/2017. Thought that this problem was related to my power steering assembly that was replaced last week, but apparently this is a different problem altogether. Driving 50 mph on a single lane road and car just stops. Turned key to off, restarted, drove about 2 miles, stopped at a stop sign, and car lost power. Again turned key to off, turned back on and car was driveable. Happened twice in may, same scenario, driving about 45-50 mph, car just stopped, drove about 1 mi. , stopped at a traffic light and car just shut off. In early September, happened on deceleration approaching a stop light.
I was pulling up slowly behind two cars at a red light when my engine accelerated with my foot firmly on the brake. My car began to inch forward toward the car in front of me. I put the car in neutral and the acceleration continued. I put the car in park and once again the acceleration continued. I then turned the key off and the engine shut down with my car ending up a foot away from a car with a woman and two children in it. I went online and found other cases of this happening to other people with 2011 Ford Fusions. I took the car to my dealer and they said they could not find anything wrong. This is the second time this has happened to me with this car. I was on a busy four lane highway both times.
¿3 may 2013 (mileage 32,800) moab, utah. Driving in the mountains around moab for my daughters wedding. One passenger in the car beside myself. While driving around a sharp curve, all the electronics in the car went dead. The engine shut down, all lights on the dash, the radio, ac all stopped working. Power steering, power brakes were non-functioning. This happened a total of five times. ¿26 August 2015 (mileage approximately 55,600) time: 6:00pm. Driving home from work. I¿d stopped at a street light and when I pulled sharply out onto main road, the car went dark again and all electrical systems shut down. I quickly restarted it by shifting into neutral and starting it with the key. Three blocks later, it happened again. This was the first time it had happened on a straightaway. I was driving by myself. ¿6 September 2015 (mileage approximately 55,950 between san juan capistrano and lake elsinore, CA. Coming out of a sharp curve in the road while going uphill all electrical components of the car shut off. The Ford Fusion shut down again, and after I restarted it, two hundred yards later did it again. ¿Ford has tried to locate the problem three times. Finally replaced throttle body on 22 sept. And said that fixed problem. It didn¿t! Ford corporation customer service now refuses to return my last five calls.
I was on my way to the Ford dealership for work to be done on my vehicle. Once I got in the parking lot I was driving about 20 mph, my car just shut off by it self. I had told the manager that I need to get my car checked out because it just shut off while I were still driving. They said they did a diagnosis check and couldn't find anything and that everything is okay. This concerns me because what if I'm driving in traffic and it shuts off again. This could be very dangerous. Please help!!!!.
Vehicle hesitates then engine shuts down!.
My car shut off while at a red light when trying to give it gas. Restarted after a few tries. Had the battery and alternator checked and both were fine. It continued to give issues and finally would shut off while going between 1-10 mph. Took it to Ford to have a test ran on it, and they showed it was a faulty throttle body and would need to be repaired. We purchased the part and paid for a repair for this even though 725,000 other vehicles in the same make have been having these issues. It is quite frustrating.
Driving up a hill when my engine lost all thrust, then the wrench and battery light turned on. Vehicle engine shut down in the middle of an intersection. I shut off the car and restarted it with the same end result. Took car to a mechanic and I now have to get my throttle body replaced.
I was traveling about 45mph when the car just shut off. Had to coast to side of the side of the road almost got rear ended. This has happened at least three more times in less than a week. The service department claims to know nothing about this problem. I'm sure the service managers are told to act dumb about this issue. I have read that other people have had this same issue. What will it take to get action, someone hurt or killed??.
While driving to work one day my car shut off right after a turn going down a hill, the dash was illuminated and no lights were on other than the dash. I put the car into park and turned it off then started it right back up, it ran fine after that. There is another issue as well though, while driving it hesitated by shifting at higher rpm's than it should and took it to dealer on Monday February 25, 2013 and they still have it with no explanation as to why it did any of those things that I mentioned. The only thing that the service guy says is "well until it is billed out I do not know what is going on with the car. " I am very frustrated and just bought this certified pre owned two weeks ago. There should be a lemon law on certified pre owned cars, this is not cool. It has caused a headache for me and now I am stuck paying for a car I cannot even drive right now.
On the morning of February 7th 2013, I noticed the vehicle's acceleration and deceleration was ridged and jumpy. Prior to this problem, the vehicle has shut off randomly approximately 3 times while in drive and in motion. This prompted me to bring the vehicle in for maintenance at a Ford dealer auto center. They determined the power takeoff unit and drive shaft were faulty, replaced both parts and returned the vehicle to me on February 15th 2013. On March 18th 2013, the vehicle shut off again while driving at highway speeds on a busy road, forcing me to navigate cautiously to a shoulder. The engine light and wrench light were illuminated this time. I shut the vehicle off, waited 5 minutes, and restarted. The engine light remained on and the vehicle was drivable. I quickly returned the vehicle to the previous Ford auto center, in which they discovered the throttle body was faulty. They replaced the throttle body and returned the car to me on March 21st 2013. On March 22nd 2013, the engine cover fell off while the car was in motion, I immediately returned vehicle to the previous Ford auto center, they replaced with new engine cover. As of today, the vehicle is again showing hesitation at acceleration and deceleration, rpm dash meter needle bounces plus minus 500rpms during acceleration and deceleration. Breaking is not smooth or instant, the vehicle tends to jump during breaking. At coasting speeds, the vehicle also jumps. These are similar problems that occurred prior to the vehicle spontaneously shutting off. This problem is alarming and an extreme safety hazard to yourself and others around you, notably at high highway speeds. Ford has been presented with the issue and has claimed that the issues are all unrelated, even though the vehicle shuts off each time. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of others driving this model, 2011 Ford Fusion sel awd.
1st time engine @ 60 mph just shut down, came to stop, restarted and thought all ok, thinking maybe bad gas. 2nd time wife driving, while making turn in front of traffic engine just quit again, came to stop and was able to restart. Next day decided to try to drive to dealer. Engine quit 3 more times while driving to local Ford dealer. They said they could not even look at it for 6 days. Drove home, engine stopped one more time. I finally I had it towed to dealer 30 miles away. Good news: they quickly diagnosed as a throttle body assembly bad news it would take 3-4 weeks for them to obtain part as so many, many Fords were experiencing the same problem. . I had to rent a vehicle . . Very dangrerous situation and this should absolutely be a recall from Ford. I have gotton no where with dealer or so called "customer servce". . I was told by the 800 cs dept that they had never heard of this problem. I go on-line and find hundreds and hundreds of complaints with the exact same issue. I want reimbursement (I have all my out of pockets costs and receipts) and a formal apology.
