In the last 24 hours my vehicle stalled on the freeway (I was almost rear-ended--this highway has a curb on both sides instead of shoulders) 4 times in 5 miles. The first time was as I was turning onto the highway from an intersection. Each time, I was unable to accelerate the car with the gas pedal. Each time, this was preceded by a lurching forward and a sluggish performance of the engine for about 1 second before the engine no longer powers the wheels. The wrench light comes on and I have to turn the car off and then turn it back on in order to be able to accelerate again. As I said, when I would accelerate, the engine would die, and this happened four times. When I restart the car, but before it dies again, the check engine light comes on. This is an issue with other 2011 Ford Fusions that the NHTSA has already investigated--the throttle body is defective. However, somehow the NHTSA let Ford off the hook and didn't recall the part and allowed Ford to only apply the "customer satisfaction program 13n03" to cars with automatic transmissions. I have a manual transmission car. I will tell you that exactly what happened in cars that initiated the investigation and this program is exactly what is happening in my car. The investigation needs to be reopened and this throttle body needs to be recalled for all transmission types. I was almost rear-ended by a car going 55 mph, even though I had my 4-way flashers on in the right lane, because the highway my car died on a does not have shoulders. This defective part is an extreme safety hazard and needs to be recalled!!.
While driving at 60 miles per hour my vehicle decelerate in rush hour traffic, miles away from home. I was able to put my emergency flashers on and move over to the shoulder before my car completely lost power. I had a tool light come on the dash and the car was still on but no power. I turn the engine completely off for about t 1 minute and then restart my car. I was able to safely make it home. On my grandchildren first day of school, while picking up at 1 of 3 schools on the way to the second school my car decelerated just before a train track during rush hour once again. This time my engine light came on the dash. Following the same technique I restarted my car, made it across the track only for it to quit again. My grand baby was worried and needless to say so was I. . Using the same technique we were able to make it safely home. Requiring another vehicle to go pick up at the other two school late. . . . Please tell me I shouldn't be afraid to drive my car because right now I am I attempted to perform a vehicle health check but it want allow me too. Please say there is a solution to this ongoing problem surely Ford is aware of this problem and there's a recall and I'm unaware right.
There's a creaking sound that is coming from the right side of the vehicle hen you're driving. The creaking sound comes to play when you're driving 5 minutes into your travel. The sound tends to come and go but at times, it gets really bad. I've had other people comment on the sound and have seen on Ford forums that this has been a common issue with this vehicle.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and shook. The wrench warning indicator illuminated. The contact had to maneuver to the side of the road. After a few minutes, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The warning indicator was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence, but the acceleration was not normal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 99,700.
The transmission or engine slams at various speeds and starting and stopping the transmission slams the car forward. The rear view mirror has started to peel away from the glass causing major vision problems. I asked the dealer about the issue and they told me to call customer service. Needless to say I still have the same mirror.
Wipers quit working in middle of windshield. Attempt to speed up delay and will not slow down. If operator tries to slow the delay speed down speed will not decrease. Transmission slams after highway travel and locks up drive tire at times.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 72 mph the vehicle lost acceleration. The vehicle lost acceleration to about 30 mph. The contact had to maneuver to the shoulder to a complete stop. The vehicle was towed to the dealer that was closed. The vehicle has not been diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000. Bp.
While driving on city street car just loss power and slowly stop moving ,so I pull over into the center divider as it shut down. I turned the ignition to off started it back up and continued on that happened a few years after I bought the car brand new, recently my car has ben doing a lot of jerking as if I'm running over a rock so I took it in and some work was done with the transmission, that was about 2/3 weeks ago and it started doing the jerking again it usually happens when I take off. So I call today and made another appointment. My concern is that this car isn't even 5 years old and already having problems with the transmission and other issue. And I got the 5 year warranty with is soon to expire and the I stuck with a car that I feel was faulty from the beginning.
Car was traveling 60mph on straight road when it jerked and wrench light and check engine light and abs and stability lights came on. Pulled to side of road and shut off car. Restarted and drove 100 feet and wrench light came back on and once again pulled over to shoulder to restart car. After 2nd restart it drove fine for 15 minutes and then stalled completely, once again restarted car and drove 5 feet it once again stalled and lost all power. Restarted and drove for 10 minutes to have it start jerking at a stop light and then stall out once I pulled into work.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. While driving 65 mph, the safety hazard light illuminated and caused the vehicle to decelerate. The contact was able to move safely onto the road shoulder. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 78,000.
My car has had a few recalls. I brought it to watertown Ford and they did not fix it properly. I bought it at enterprise car sales, woburn MA. They were supposed to check it and it was not certified like they promised. From the first month the car had issues. It keeps showing the wrench and not accelerating properly. I can't afford to keep fixing it. I would like Ford to buy back the car. For more than 11,000. 00.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning indicators. The vehicle did restart, however the failure recurred after the wrench and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a tune up. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,525. Sh.
My car has stalled out and surges it looses all power. My check engine light came on and I immediately drove it to the dealership p2111 code showed up when the diagnosed the problem. I have researched the issue and have found that this is common in this paticular model. This should be a factory recall.
Ford Fusion 2011 engine surged and dropped speed and resulting in me nearly being rear ended by vehicle behind me. Engine felt as if the transmission hesitated in between shifting gears.
I put my car a 2011 Ford Fusion in drive the power steering failure asst light came on & I lost power steering. I am a 109 lb female & it took every bit of strength I had to control my car. I immediately took it to the local Ford dealership & I shut it off. When I turned it back on the light was off & my steering was back. This is the first incident I have had. I have owned this car for 11 months.
When ur going 60 mph or faster. It feels like the rear end is swaying. I just bought the car 7 months ago.
I started receiving a power steering assist failure warning light, and loss of power steering, about a week before it failed completely. Each time I was in a parking lot and reset the warning light by turning off the car and turning it back on. I was pulling out of the driveway on Friday March 6th, 2015 when the light came back on, and I lost power steering in the vehicle. Due to the vehicle not being operable on the road, I had it towed to the local Ford dealership. They diagnosed the issue as a steering rack module failure and suggested a replacement of the steering rack. We ended up having them replace it and the total bill was over $1,700. 00. The dealership stated that this is a common problem with this specific model year and car and had this part in stock. A simple internet search also shows that many other cars with this specific model year have the same issue. Please look into issuing a recall as losing power steering could potentially be dangerous if driving the car on a highway.
Driving down interstate vehicle stopped responding. Wrench light came on, diagnosed as faulty throttle body.
Twice now my vehicle has lost power steering while driving. The lights suddenly come on saying "service power steering now" "service advancetrac". The first time this happened they were able to reset the computer stating it was an issue with the electronic computer. Now it has happened again and it is completely unsafe. This is not the only electrical issue I have had with this car. About a year ago the electronic throttle body sensor went on it. This was an intense safety problem that was thankfully recalled. Ford really needs to realize the implications of electronic issues in this vehicle.
I was driving my vehicle on the highway at 60 miles per hour when the power steering wen out completely. When this happened I was at a off ramp exit and had almost zero steering I panicked and tried to get off the exit which had a sharp radius turn, I could not keep the vehicle on the road and traveled off into to grass until I could skid to a stop. If there would have been a different situation other then the grass I was able to crash off into I or someone else could have been killed or seriously injured. It took every bit of strength I have to try to control the vehicle to keep it from a very serious accident, as my vehicle lost steering I had two dash warnings that came on. Advanced trac and power steering both quit working. With the research ive done I think its a disgrace that Ford has done nothing to fix this issue. I have no way to pay over $2000 to get my car operational again. I will no doubt loose my job do to now not having transportation. My car only has 48500 miles on it. Thanks Ford.
Put the car in reverse and the power steering locked up. This has happened about 6 times since then and the Ford dealer keeps saying that the cant find the problem. But why is this happening if there isnt a problem?.
Driving up the highway at about 65mph then the car begins to start losing power and speed, I have to pull over all the way to the right in the emergency lane. The yellow wrench light is on and I shut off the car then start it again, I'm able to make it home about 10 miles from home. If I didn't react quick enough this could have caused a major accident on the freeway.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the wrench warning light illuminated and the speed decreased. The contact also stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.
While traveling on a highway at approximately 65 mph, my power steering went out, and a power steering fault message came on. I had a real hard time getting over to the emergency lane as the steering wheel was almost impossible to turn. This caused me to almost get hit by incoming traffic while attempting to change lanes or even keep the vehicle straight, had this happen while making a turn and accident would have ensued for sure. Once I made it to the emergency lane, I turned the car off and back on and the problem went away. As I look on the web this is a very common problem with Ford Fusions, why isn't there a recall?.
I was driving with my two children going aprox 25 mpg, I attempted to turn right into a parking lot, and power steering was competetly lost. I then drove to work aprox 20 miles with no power steering. I took my car into the Ford dealership, they spent 4 days trying to determine what the issue was, and ultimately decided the entire power steering needed to be replaced, at a cost of $1900. 00. Being a single parent, and only one vehicle, I was left no choice but to pay and get the car fixed.
Vehicle stalled in traffic. Restarted after several attempts and would not idle. Vehicle ran very rough. Vehicle was towed to a local garage and the throttle body was diagnosed as the problem. Codes (p2119, p2111) came up in diagnostic tests. Also throttle position sensor in throttle body assembly has internal failure.
Intermittent failure when pulling out into traffic. When you press the accelerator down, the wrench light comes on and the car will only go about 5 miles per hour. Was almost hit on two occasions by oncoming traffic. If you turn the car off, then restart, it works --- until the next time it fails! I consider this a life threatening defect. In high density areas, it is not realistic to have huge gaps in traffic that would allow you to adequately protect your life, and the lives of others, every time you go to pull out into traffic.
My power steering in my vehicle has been going out while I drive. (very scary) it has happened approximately 4-5 times. I read the manuel and it said if "assist failure" comes on, turn off the engine and let it sit for 10 seconds, then turn vehicle on to reset. The first 4-5 times it did reset after doing so. This very last time, the vehicle no longer was resetting. It remains in my driveway because the "assist failure" stays on with no power steering. I called the dealership and the gentleman that I spoke with mentioned that the 2010 has a recall out for that issue but not yet the 2011. I am very upset that I did not get any assistance with this matter due to the problem not being my fault.
I was driving on the 95 freeway in las vegas, nevada my 2011 Ford Fusion started jerking and idling down like it was going to shut off, but the car continued to run I get 4-5 minutes into my drive at 65 mph and the car shut down. I didn't realize the power to the vehicle was gone at first. Cars are flying beside me, and behind me on the highway I'm terrified that I'm going to get killed or seriously injured in a accident. I coast over to the side of the highway put the car in park. I had previously taken my car to Ford and they keep telling me they could not duplicate the problem so they keep sending me away. They replaced the throttle body in September 2013 and the car was fine until februray this year now my car is back at Ford I told them I was not taking that car because now I have a safety issue. I called the Ford regional customer relationship center I have a case number, but feel I'm not getting results. I was told by the service tech at Ford yesterday 6/17 that he has no idea what's wrong with my car they cannot figure it out. He said they check the tran and it all checkout fine. Please help I don't want to die by the hand of Ford I want to see my grandkids grow up. I have them in my car all the time I'm affraid to put them in that car now.
Ford replaced the throttle body. As this being the 2nd throttle body replacement in 6 months. My car is now lunging forward dangerously I am afraid of driving it. Still stall on the highway. And my avg miles per gallon have plunged from 29. 9 to 20. 1. I only drive Ford tough. But now I think its " Ford the weak" and paying for a piece of crapple at 400 a month for 6 years I no joke. Dear Ford I put my life in your hands. Id rather live with bad credit than be killed by a car thats failing.
While driving, the vehicle lost power and would not respond to the throttle in the gas paddle. The wrench light also came on the dashboard and the car jerked violently. Fortunately, the vehicle was safely slowed down to the side of the road while the jerking continued and the engine revved irrationally around 1000-4000 rpms. After turning the car off, the car was restarted and the problem went away temporarily until it happened again after about 10 minutes of drive. The wrench light does not appear again but the sluggish engine and the grinding noise that comes from the engine do not appear to disappear. This issue appears to be very common with many other Ford Fusions with faulty throttle bodies. Unfortunately, this car had its throttle body replaced previously but still has the same issue.
This has happened on numerous occasions but on this particular date I was driving with my two kids and as I was turning with traffic the power steering went out, it was all of a sudden and all the cars were going my same speed. I lost control of the vehicle and side swiped a car and also was rear ended because I stopped since I had no idea what was going on with my power steering. I will never again buy a Ford because when I called the dealership they had nothing to say.
I turned my car on, and went to reverse. The car started beeping, and a light came on. I continued to drive thinking it was because I didn't have traction in the gravel lot I was in. I didn't have any power steering and the brakes weren't working as well as normal. When I turned off the car and let it sit for a half hour, it started up and was working just fine. The warning my car gave me was to service the advanced trac.
This is a followup report. Took my car to Ford. They replaced the electronic throttle body at no charge.
I was driving at low speed on a secondary street, going about 15 mph. Suddenly, the vehicle became unresponsive to the gas pedal. The check engine light came on and the engine was alternating between surging and stalling. This was the 5th time this had happened to me since I purchased the car in September 2013. I pulled to the side of the road, took out my phone and made a video of what was happening. The video will show that the engine was non-reponsive, surging and stalling. However, when I shut off and re-stared the engine, the problem seemed to disappear. I had taken the car to Ford a few weeks ago to have them service this problem, but they were unable to confirm that there was any problem. The did not charge me to check the car. They did not tell me about the throttle body problem at that time. After I made the video, I was at Ford two days ago with our escape for an oil change and showed the video to the service manager. He told me that the problem is related to the throttle body and asked me to bring the car in for service. I have not been able to return to Ford as of this time.
