1 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving at 30 mph, the vehicle loss power steering functionality. The contact's son was able to steer the vehicle off the roadway. The contact called an independent mechanic and was advised that the vehicle was able to be carefully driven home. The contact called inskeep Ford (2651 w main st, greenfield, in 46140, (317) 462-1470) and was informed that the failure was with a steering column gear malfunction. The contact was quoted a repair cost of $2,421. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 49,594.

2 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2020

My 2013 Ford Fusion is experiencing power steering loss. I have experienced steering loss at start up, on the road driving, mid-turning, and when I hit a small bump or rocky surface. The messages that appear include power steering assist fault and service advancetrak. I was told this was a common occurrence among Fords with electrical power steering and was quoted $2000 to replace the entire steering column. After sending my vehicle in to a Ford dealership 8+ times, I finally gave up and requested for a refund. Research shows that Ford recalled a number of vehicles including the same name and model as my 2013 Ford Fusion, however my VIN was not included in the recall. I think Ford manufacturer needs to expand their recall regions to include all those who are experiencing this same issue. My vehicle is too young and does not have more than 105,000 miles to be experiencing this type of issue.

3 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2020

The bolt holding the steering wheel to the column loosened up causing the wheel to become loose and wobble causing play in the steering. It loosened gradually over time.

4 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

I usually drive local roads (max speed 45). This morning, while driving at 65 mph on interstate 84, I felt vibration in the steering wheel. I thought it was the new tires I had purchased 2 weeks ago. When I got home, I noticed that the steering wheel wobbled on the steering column. I brought my car to the dealer and the tech tightened the bolt that attached the steering wheel to the column. $95. 39! this is the second time this has happened to this vehicle. The first time was approx. 2 years ago when one of the service techs tightened the same bolt. (mike fedorsin) he didn't charge me that time and there was no bill (still under bumper to bumper warranty).

5 Steering Column problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2014

I was driving sw bound on hwy 20 in loganville, GA when my car surged and powered off at 50 mph¿the vehicle turned off on a very busy road. I just bought this car last year. This is the second time this has happened¿this first time it happened Ford replaced my entire steering column. I had zero steering capability, the engine was off and unresponsive and all of my electronic panels went dark except for a message saying "transmission is not in park" and the engine warning light (yellow) came on. I was able to hit the hazard lights and barely inch to the right side on the highway. There was a truck behind me that had to make an evasive lange change maneuver to the left in order to avoid collision. Once I came to a stop I immediately turned my video camera on my phone and started documenting what was happening in the vehicle. I have this video readily available for you if you need it to further your investigation.
