My 2016 Ford Fusion has a coolant is leaking in the cylinder due to head gasket causing miss firing, overheating and sputtering. Driving down the highway when the overheating light came on causing me to pull over to let engine cool down to pull off onto a exit. Only has 120k miles.
My 2016 Ford Fusion has approximately 53,000 miles on it and threw three check engine lights in the time since I purchased it (with about 18k on it). I took it in immediately every time. On the third time I was told there was coolant leaking into the block and it would need a new engine. It was 2weeks past warranty. I have researched, despite knowing nothing about engines, and found that this appears to be common. Ford refused to pay for the whole replacement. They are now saying my turbo charger is bad and I am out for 3600?? it has been in the shop for two weeks. . . Dealer shop at which I bought it and I am very frustrated.
Getting a check engine light - the reading is misfire on cylinder 1. After our mechanic has tried over and over to find where the leak is coming from. He spoke to a mechanic that works for Ford. He was told that it is a known fault in that engine that the coolant leaks into the engine and will eventually cause the engine to lock up - crack the block. Ford has not done a recall for this item even though I am able to find numerorus complaints of the same problem. My car is not under warranty and I owe too much to just trade the car in to become someone else's problem. So know I have our mechanic looking for an engine and have to just hope and pray that this engine that we find doesn't have the same issue. Wish I could understand why there has not been a recall for this issue if it is a known problem.
Car is losing coolant. I see there have been other Fords have been recalled for a coolant leak / poor circulation but my car is not on that list. We can't figure out where it is losing coolant or why it keeps showing it is overheating. In idle is shows it is overheating when you are start moving the temp goes down. Checked coolant and it was low. Added coolant then there was white smoke coming from the engine. Smoke stopped but the next day it showed it was overheating again when in idle state. Took back to the mechanic. They can't find where it is losing coolant but shows it is losing coolant. I see there have been other recalls for this on the same model as mine and other Ford models as well. My VIN doesn't show it is recalled for this item. Want to get fixed before I have to buy a new engine due to head gasket issue for a car I have only owned for a year and half.
Had to have the engine replaced for 2500$. Engine started leaking coolant last year. Tried to seal with head gasket leak fix. After over heating several times throughout the year, engine failed. This should be a recall.
The car reads as a 4th cylinder misfire but it's not. The coil has been replaced twice and the spark plugs have been replaced twice also. Went back to Ford after spending all this money to tell me there is a leak going into my engine form my coolant. Now I have to get a new whole engine and I only have the car for about 3-4 years. This is about a $5,000-$6,000 fix. After researching, this should be a recall due to the amount of similar cases there has been. When driving, the light would come on and off when it wants and it sometimes would bolt forward this is due to the leak to the engine. I've had to had it towed once because it was starting to give up. This is when I took it to Ford to misdiagnose me that it was the spark plugs when it was not. This is unsafe to drive and an outrageous price to pay.
My engine is misfiring on the second cylinder due to a crack in the engine that's causing coolant to leak into the cylinder because of the material that the engine block was made.
There is a coolant leak in cylinder 2. Of my 2l ecoboost requiring a complete long block replacement. This can cause the car to overheat and/or run unreliably. I have had to pull over on the side of a busy highway to add coolant. This will no doubt leave me stranded one day soon, as this is a known problem for many of Ford's ecoboost engines yet they have not recalled these faulty engines. And I can not afford an $8,000 repair there is a Ford technical service bulletin 19-2346 date of issue december19 2019.
Started to lose coolant, couldnt see anywhere that it was leaking, or any signs of leaking. Refilled the coolant resvoir. Drove to work the next day, and when I got off of work I tried to start the car and it wouldnt fire. Once it was moved all of the oil had been laying on the ground where the car was parked. Done alot of research and found out that the cylinder heads are junk and was loosing coolant in to the cylinder. So now im stuck with a $200 a month payment for something that happened that has happening to thousands of care with the 1. 5l eco boost turbo. . . And there still is recall??? the car doesn't have 130,000 miles yet.
The engine is misfiring, said engine 2 cylinder misfiring probably coolant leak. And I cant afford to pay 5000 for a new motor.
Engine is leaking coolant into the cylinders.
At 78,000 miles my car had a check engine light come on upon starting the engine followed by a drop in power upon starting it. The check engine turned off on my way to the shop, and they were unable to determine why it came on and turned off. About 1 week later it came on again and I had it checked and it was determined that there was a cylinder 1 misfire with a error code p0301. I had the spark plugs and ignition coils all replaced. The check engine light came on again about 2 weeks later after experiencing a drop in power upon starting the vehicle. And shortly turned off again. I then received a high coolant temperature warning while driving, and made a stop to refill my coolant housing to the max line. Not even 2 weeks later I received the same high coolant temperature warning while traveling down the interstate followed by sudden emissions of white smoke out of the exhaust pipes. There was no check engine light on during or after this incident. I pulled the vehicle over and shut the engine off, then had it towed to a trusted mechanic. He determined that the coolant may be leaking into the cylinder 1 causing it to misfire and eventually leading to a blown head gasket. This car was meticulously cared for and maintained and somehow has a blown head gasket before reaching 80,000 miles. The extent of the damage to the engine is still to be determined.
Car has 60k miles. Losing coolant no leak. Didn't start one day. Firestone couldn't find the problem. Had my car towed to baytown Ford. After a week and a $800 authorization to open the engine only. Next day I was told I need a new engine. $6k. My question was what caused the engine failure, and how can I be sure the new engine wont have the same problem. My oil changes are regular. Mobil 1 oil and filter. I was told the sludge in my engine was because I had a aftermarket oil filter not a motorcraft filter. Not in writing. I knew better and after some research I found a plethora if other owners has had the exact same problem. My car is my key to providing for my family and I dont have $6k for a manufacturer defect. Car has also cut off while my wife was driving but cranked immediately.
My vehicles check engine light came on and immediately after the light appeared the car began to lose power, become sluggish and slow to accelerate. The vehicle had to be stopped on the expressway and towed to a repair shop (delkers automotive 12198 lewis Ave, temperance, mi 48182) who looked at the vehicle and explained to me that there was leaking engine coolant into the cylinder that caused the engine to overheat and crack. There was complete engine failure and I would need a new engine at 73,000 miles. I had the vehicle towed to brondes Ford at 5545 secor road toledo, OH on August 28th. Brondes Ford verified what delker's automotive had found, the coolent leak into the cylinder that caused the engine to crack. Brondes Ford told me that this is a known issue and that I should try to file a claim with Ford to recoup some of the cost of a new engine as I was outside of the warranty, at 73k miles. I was told by Ford when calling in to make a claim that they would not assist me with any kind of monetary help, even though the issue is a known issue, because there is no current recall. I have now been without a vehicle for two months as I do not have the $8000. 00 to replace the engine, and have received no help from Ford. It is unacceptable that this issue is a known issue and nothing is getting done about it. There was a previous safety recall that addresses the engine issue on safety recall # 17s09 for the Ford Fusion 2013-2014 models, and the fact that the issue is still happening in later models shows the issue was not corrected by Ford, and is honestly appalling that they can get away with it.
My check engine light came on when I started my car to go to work one morning. I got my code reader and plugged it in, it showed p0301 and p0304 ( generic code for misfire on cylinders 1 and 4). I figured I had bad spark plugs or ignition coils so I replaced them with all new parts. Drove the car for about two days and the check engine light returned again when starting my car. Plugged the code reader back in, same code readings. My car is still under an extended warranty plan so I took it to a repair shop. They ran a diagnostic test and found the same codes. After a couple of hours, they informed me that they were going to replace the fuel sensors because they believed that was the problem. They replaced the sensors and cleared the check engine light and I was on my way. A few days later the check engine light came back on when I started my car. I contacted the repair shop again and they told me to bring it back in. I dropped the car off to them for 5 days. When they called me back they said they were unable to determine the cause and I should take it to the dealership. Took the car to the dealership and they informed me that I need to replace the engine because I have a cracked cylinder that is leaking coolant into the engine. The warranty company is trying to deny my claim, stating that the engine overheated due to improper maintenance. I change my own oil and I change it well before the manufacturer's recommendation. I follow all the specifications and use premium products so I know that it is not from improper maintenance. After doing some research I found that this seems like a common problem among these engine types and I have even found a few websites where people are trying to start a class action lawsuit. This entire experience/process has been a giant headache. Hopefully there is a resolution in the near future.
The check engine light came on in my vehicle and it was idling rough so I took it by autozone to get the diagnostic check. It showed p0300, cylinder misfire. I took my vehicle to the Ford dealership but the check engine light had gone off so they changed the spark plugs thinking this would fix it. A few days later, the same thing happened, with the addition of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, while idling. When I took it in the second time, the light was not on anymore and it wasn't smoking. They couldn't replicate the problem. About a week later, when I started the vehicle, it idled rough and then died. When I started it back up, the check engine light was on again and white smoke was coming from the back of the vehicle. When I started driving, on a city street, white smoke began billowing from the exhaust. The smoke was so thick that I couldn't see anything behind me. I immediately called the Ford dealership and made an appointment to get it looked at again. This time they informed me that coolant was leaking into one of the cylinders and that I would need a new engine and it was going to cost $7,300. My car has been in the shop now for almost two weeks waiting for the extended warranty company to make a decision on whether or not they will pay for the repair. TSB 19-2346 addresses the issue but the vehicle owner still has to pay for the repair if they don't have a warranty or it doesn't cover it. The first incident was on 7/22/20 and the final incident was on 8/14/20.
Cyl 2 misfire since 2 months after I bought car at 56k miles. Now overheating, coolant leaking into engine at rate of about a gallon/week. Still have 5 years owed on a $350/mo yard ornament. Ford is awefull!!! same junk as the 1. 6l they "fixed. ".
Check engine light came on and was running rough. It also began to overheat and run low on coolant. The check engine light indicated a misfire in cyclinder 1. I took it to the Ford dealership and was told coolant was leaking into the cyclinder and could not be repaired. I was told I need a new engine. I researched this and saw that this is happening very often to engines like mine. The service manager said there were no recalls but this shouldn't happen. This occurred while driving on the city streets and highway.
The check engine light is on. The code was p0304, which is a misfire in cylinder 4. The spark plugs were due for a change, so I changed them, the oil has been changed at recommended intervals, and fuel injector cleaner used when filling up. The new spark plugs did not make the engine light go away after clearing the code. I tested the ignition coils, and they are fine. Also, the coolant level is often low, and I have to put a quart in a week. It is not leaking from anywhere. I started researching, and found that there are many other Ford Fusions with this problem, and the coolant is leaking into a cylinder, and giving the misfire on a certain cylinder code.
There is a misfire on cylinder 1. Diagnosed as a coolant leak. It is the same engine that is in the 2017 Fusion that has a recall on the engine due to coolant leak.
Leaking engine coolant into engine cylinder 3, causing engine to overheat and a crack in the long block. Result: complete engine failure. Pressure test indicated a 4lbs drop in 4 minutes, which should not occur in that short amount of time. Through the ecc test indicated error codes p0304 and p0316 as well as that cylinders 3 and 4 have multiple misfires. Continued diagnosis discovered that coolant was coming out of the tailpipe which indicates an internal leak in the engine and that cylinder 3 pressure drops during power balance test. Crack in engine block due to overheating. Complete engine failure recommend new engine. This a mfg defect and is the same as the defect described in safety recall 17s09 that includes 2013- 2014 Fusions. Ford never fixed the problem. Recall needs to be expanded to include 2015-2019 models. Defect presents a fire hazard if cylinder head cracks it may result in a pressurized oil leak resulting in a fire in the engine compartment.
Engine coolant leaking in engine - engine long block needs replaced after 77,000 miles. Car overheated on a short trip - low on antifreeze apparently it was leaking into the engine block - took it to Ford dealer and they stated the long block needed to be replaced. Vehicle was serviced regularly and issue prior to this was the engine rpm were advancing but the engine speed was not engaged- took it in for repair and they replaced a fuel sensor - 1 month before the coolant started leaking into the engine.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle drove very rough prior to the check engine warning light became illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bill estes Ford located at 450 east north field dr, brownsburg, in 46112, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that coolant leaked into cylinder #1 and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 85,000.
Coolant leaked into my cylinders causing the motor to overheat. I was at a stop light when it happened and immediately pulled into a parking lot and shut the engine off.
In June of 2020 a check engine light popped up on my dashboard; therefore, I took my car into the dealership to be diagnosed. They ultimately uncovered that there was a known engine defect with my 2. 0 l 4 cylinder engine due to a coolant leak. Unfortunately, my vehicle is within 2 months outside of the current safety recall. There is an active recall on all of the 1. 5 l that covers 2014 through 2019; however, the range on my 2016 2. 0 l Fusion begins in 2017. I reached out to Ford and they indicated that even though I am within 1. 5-2 months outside of the recall they cannot assist me with financing my over $7,000 required engine replacement and I am quite disappointed that the recall has not been extended yet. Further, I am writing this as of 11/1 and it has been nearly 5 months since I dropped my car off at the Ford dealership and they indicated that they have no idea when they will be able to fix my engine as there are over 8,000 other re-manufactured engines on back-order due to similar issues. The coolant leak issue is an incredibly serious issue as it could cause my engine to stall out on the high-way or city streets. I have seen countless other people reporting the same problem, and I hope that our voices will soon be heard so that we can receive appropriate compensation from the manufacturer for their poor design and build. For reference on the two existing engine recalls noted above, please refer to the Ford technical service bulletins 19-2346 and 19-2139. Thank you.
I have coolant leaking into engine cylinders. Bought the car a year ago from carvana before purchase had a full inspection done. A year later I had problem with the engine spitting and misfiring. Local mechanic changed the spark plugs and leads. But noticed bad discoloration on the spark plugs. Ive been continuing to have to add coolant and the car is running ever worse.
Coolant is leaking through the cylinder causing the car to shake when started and emit white smoke. The check engine light code is p0302.
Overheating, at first coolant mysteriously missing with no visible leaks, white smoke, funny buzzing sound, weird smell, like water swooshing sounds, water in the oil, as the coolant leak out the car would stall and kinda spudder like mis-fire. Water is leaking into the block. I financed my 2016 with about 70k miles on it. At the time I believed it was a safe reliable vehicle. I can not afford to purchase a new engine, nor can I break the contract on my terms of financing the purchase. I feel sol and cheated. Please continue the recall to the 2016 models as I've been overall happy with my Fords in the past as well as my second, most recent 2016 Fusion. I know this is a manufacturers defect and they have found the fix for earlier models. Please help fix mine so I can drive confidently and safely on the roads again. Thanks!.
Coolant started leaking into the engine and now I need a new engine. I have only owned this car for four years and have taken very good care of it. I have done some research and found that hundreds of people have had the same issue. I will never buy from Ford again.
I have a 2016 Ford Fusion and I just recently began experiencing code p302 and losing coolant. I replaced the spark plugs and coil and the light went out for a few weeks but then it came back on and only got worse. On one of those occasions my car literally shut off while driving it on a busy road. Thankfully I was able to maneuver it to the emergency lane. The shut off apparently was due to an engine coolant failure. After speaking with Ford about it I was told that coolant is more than likely leaking and I would need to replace the entire engine. I am filing a complaint with the NHTSA concerning this matter. I can't afford to over 6k for a new motor. I am still making payments and my car sits in the driveway. After doing research I see this is an issue that has been going on for some time, why has a recall not been done due to the ongoing defect.
There is a known defect to the engine where coolant leaks into the cylinder. The suggested repair is to replace the long block of the engine. The coolant leaks while the car is off causing a very rough start, and eventually the coolant reaches a level where it is not sufficient enough to keep the motor cool, causing overheating.
So this started just about a week ago I noticed I had low coolant, I had serviced my car recently so I thought maybe they just forgot to add some, it wasn't below the minimum line but it was getting near so I topped it off, well not I notice my coolant is leaking further more and more, I've researched it online and many people are having this issue although there's no recall issues there should be, people are paying thousands of dollars for a new engine because of a defect and I fear I'm going to be one of those people also, they claim the 2nd piston goes out due to coolant leaking inside. Please please investigate this defect, Ford lied about their Ford focus and now it's their Ford Fusion.
Engine has a design flaw that allows coolant to leak into the cylinders and cause damage requiring a complete long block replacement. This happens when the engine overheats. This has been diagnosed by the local Ford dealer, they no it is in an issue and corrected the problem in the 2017-present versions of the Fusion.
Engine has a design flaw that allows coolant to leak into the cylinders and cause damage requiring a complete long block replacement. This happens when the engine overheats. Shop and extended warranty company say they see this often. Ford has since released an updated design without the flaw, however has done nothing for those owners that have the flaw.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle start to over heat. The coolant warning light illuminated. The contact coasted to the side of the road and noticed there was no coolant, when he check a second time, the coolant rises up then went back down. The contact stated that he had to add coolant every two weeks to the vehicle. The vehicle was driving to the contact residence. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and informed the contact that it maybe a leak in the reservoir. The vehicle was not repaired and was not taken to a dealer. In addition, the contact stated that when turn the vehicle on the rpm went up 2 and back down and started to shake. The contact powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was fine. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a Ford dealer and also informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000. Aw.
