June 1st 2020 while driving 55mph on a hot day windows down stereo blasting suddenly the speakers screech a defening sound and then nothing . Screen displays audio off and won't turn on. No music and the part that's dangerous no gps prompts (I get lost easily) the next day its cooler and it works again. October 13th 2020 the radio displays audio off and and is still off as I write this complaint on a cool October day. This car is a safety hazard and now basically worthless with out a functional audio system. I cant afford to take it to the dealer to even try to figure out the problem last time I went for a simple software update to address another problem with the radio it cost $80.
Ford sync 3 "apim" failure. The module controlling the infotainment system in the car failed after a software update to version 3. 0. Happened 7 days past and 6000mi before warranty expired with Ford unwilling to cover any of the cost. After apim replacement battery also failed. Aftermarket sellers of apim's acknowledge high failure rate on 1st gen (2016-17) apims.
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at between 30 and70 mph, without warning the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to manley's belvidere Ford Lincoln, 1800 n state st, belvidere, IL 61008, (815) 544-2138, to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The contact was informed that a software update was performed however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure case number: cas-22298025. The approximate failure mileage was 21,108. Ah.
Took car to the dealer the third time for a problem with the one touch feature with the front car windows . Called on 4/25/2017 and talked to repair dept. At glenn Ford; he explain his remedy about the switch up til clicking; utube had similar but doesn't work on mine. He search for service bulletins and indicated something new . . Reprogram. Set an appoint next day at 10am . Arrived at 9:55 am and was rtold they were running behind. Later at 10:20 they pulled the car into the back lot. I immediately went to dan ,the service advisor, and asked for my keys since I had an appointment for !0:00am and evidently my problem ,3rd time ,wasn't important to them and that I would go to another dealer. He said they were bringing it right in. 10:45 said mechanic was downloading a new fix that was just received. 11:00 am I peered into the shop and the window still was not working properly. 11:15 he came and the fix didn't wotk and let me drive off and said he would be in touch. No copy of work done. Needless to say after 3 months; I can't believe Ford egineers can get a software bug repair or a temporary work around. I think I'll ash for extended warranty on my cars windows as much as they have been over-used trying to repair ;just hope I don't get rain damage since at times it is very difficult to get "almost" closed before the windows automatically reverse and go down. This happens any time intermittently and rotates between the driver and passenger windows.
